Grey Pine Lodge

We thought this hotel was great. We stayed here one night because we had a wedding at Kings Family winery the next day. The night of the wedding we moved over to a hotel in Charlottesville because that was where the guests were staying. Definitely regretted that decision. The Grey Pine Lodge was a much better location. The scenery was beautiful and the hotel was new. It was so nice to be able to sit out in the front and relax during downtime.

Location is amazing for what this area has to offer. Hiking, Nelson 151, and surrounding towns. The room was clean and well thought out. The grounds are beautiful, tho close to the road if you are really sensitive to sounds. We didn’t notice it much, and our room was on the closer side to the road. Like any other hotel, you can hear neighbors to a certain extent. The managers were very responsive and the check in/out was very simple. Will definitely keep this place in mind for coming back.

Note on the trail on property: it is short but I would classify it as “moderate” due to the steepness throughout. The view at the end, however is worth it.

Maybe adding some rocking chairs to the porch would be a lovely addition.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Grey Pine Lodge. The setting is lovely and the room we chose was spacious and clean with a comfortable bedding and pillows. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn't get to have a campfire but hopefully next time. This is the second "no host" hotel I've stayed at and I really like the experience. Only one small hiccup with the code to the little shop not working, but I was easily able to call and get a code, so don't let the fact that there's no on-site staff concern you. We took a hike through the Blue Ridge Tunnel and really enjoyed the experience. Only one thing I'd like to see is interior locks for peace of mind. Super cute and comfortable place at a fair price.

This was the best surprise last minute booking traveling through to Charlottesville. Will def make a point to return intentionally. The ease of checking in and self service was absolutely stress free. The location was perfect !! There is a private trail with the most beautiful mountain top view

I’ve been in a lot of air bnbs and hotels and really loved being at the grey pine lodge. It was so nice we could bring our giant black lab with us! The grounds are cozy and each night we spent around a fire pit with s’mores. I loved the added touch of the little convince store and thought there were great selections. I also loved how we didn’t need a hotel key it was all just a PIN number. Felt very safe and loved being close to Waynesboro. We went into town for happ coffee and alex taco truck and loved both. We also would highly recommend the Humpback Rocks trail. Overall great stay 10/10 and will be back.

The ONLY bad part was someone’s dog was barking a lot but that’s the owners fault for leaving them so long and not the hotels fault at all!

Absolutely loved the lodge and location!

This was one of the nicer hotel rooms I've ever been in. Cool location, very clean, nice amenities, soft comfortable bed, awesome shower. My only gripe would be, that I wished there was a slightly better food selection in the commissary. Dry goods like soup that could be heated up with water, or cereal and milk in the drink machine would go a long way. Ordering in, or going back out was the last thing I wanted to think about after traveling or hiking all day.
