Restaurant at Big Sur River Inn

Big Sur River Inn restaurant is a culinary masterpiece! The Tortilla Soup was a warm symphony of flavors, and the Prawn Tacos were a taste of paradise. The setting? Nothing short of breathtaking, surrounded by the scenic wonders of Big Sur. The service was flawless, adding a touch of perfection to our dramatic dining experience. In a nutshell, it's a culinary journey you won't soon forget. A must-visit for food, scenery, and service that's beyond extraordinary! However, the menu is a bit expensive here.

If you are visiting Big Sur, you should absolutely stop here. We stopped here, bought a coffee and discovered the river banks behind the inn. There are a few sitting arrangements beside the river and also a few in the water. We sat on the one which is in the water. We saw 2-3 blue jays flying around. The whole ambiance was so serene that we didn't want to leave there. Highly recommend.

The food was good. I ordered a chicken sandwich with coleslaw. The coleslaw was amazing. The chicken was smoked and needed just a tad seasoning but good. Originally ordered food to go but ate it at the bar!

Had dinner here. Ate inside but deck looked inviting next to flowing river and with lots of heat lamps. Had the best salad of my life, their winter beet salad with salmon and avocado added. Everything was perfectly cooked and service was friendly and attentive. Pricey but worth it.

Very awesome place to stay, eat, shop, and drive out to BigSur. Super convenient. Excellent food with huge portions. Friendly people. Cozy wood cabin rooms by a river. Excellent French press coffee. Worth every penny. One of my favorite spots to stay on the 1.

Great place to handout in your BigSur drive. They have these chairs setup in the creek behind the restaurant, you can grab some drink/food and chill. Very pleasant and not much crowded, we had a very good time.

Good food, full bar, and attentive service make this an obvious choice if you're in Big Sur. Choose between the fireplace indoors or outdoor seating overlooking the river. My burger with cheddar was large and perfectly cooked (a bit pricey at $26); partner's beet salad was tasty. The Bloody Mary is as spicy as advertised.

We showed up about 15 mins to closing but they were still happy to seat us.

Service was really friendly and fast. We never felt rushed at any time.

The food was excellent. I had the salmon which was nice and moist. The garlic bread was amazing. My wife has the pesto salad and loved it.

Would definitely dine here again.

First time visiting Big Sur Ca. We stop for dinner at this beautiful restaurant. We didn't have to wait at all.
The food is fresh, delicious and great drinks. My favorite was this amazing Lemon-Herb Aioli topping on Salmon. The staff is so nice and caring. Our food was served really fast. We decided to seat by the outdoor area. It feels so refreshing, they have heaters and the sound of the river was a plus to our perfect dinner.
Very clean, family friendly environment.
The restrooms were super clean.
You can also have drinks by the river. They have chairs so you can deep your feet in the refreshing river.
There is a hotel right next door.

If you are driving by highway 1 you cannot miss thus wonderful place.

This was an awesome time! Enjoying drinks in the river! It was so fun and relaxing. The drinks were great. Then we stayed for dinner. The atmosphere is really special. Great chocolate cake!

Wonderful stop for a meal, drink, or snacks on the way up or down the coast. Lots of seating options and the creek is right behind the restaurant.

Fun stop on the northern side of the Big Sur areas. Open air dining, "picnic style" dining means you order at the entrance then pick up your order in a cooler. Inside the cooler the meals are packed in a variety of plastic containers. The staff told us they are able to clean and reuse most of the containers.

Fun experience and the food was excellent. Not the deepest menu but enough to satisfy most palettes.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Sitting on the back lawn and in the water is amazing. Spent the day there. Unfortunately our server forgot a plate at restaurant. When asked about plate he said he would check. He never came back and let us know what was happening. My husband ended up picking at everyone's plate and we ended up just leaving. Spoke with management and he gave up the plate my husband would have ordered but it was kind of late for that.

Had an awesome Burger here. They cooked it as ordered too!! I ate on the patio and really LOVED the vibe. The waitress was awesome (Katie?). Super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately their ipad based billing system may have not entered her tip as I've been waiting for it to post to my CC but so far only the meal amount has shown up.

This restaurant has the perfect atmosphere. You can hear the water 💧 since your sitting so close to river. Just so relaxing, also have a great simple menu 😋 the service is quick and you get choose where you sit. The place is pet friendly which is a plus ➕for 🐕dogs lovers. There hikes right around the corner so you can walk 🚶‍♀ 🚶‍♂your food off. Check ✔out some pics I took well I was there.

Really enjoyed eating here! We stayed at the River Inn a few nights, and when we booked they had a deal for $100/night at the restaurant, (also could be used for breakfast, lunch, and general store). All our food was delicious and the service was really great. Of particular note, the veggie burgers and pancakes were top notch, and coffee drinks and cocktails were delicious too. Prices were reasonable, especially by Big Sur standards. Highly recommend.

Anniversary celebration. Cosy restaurant surrounded by beautiful trees and natural. The food was great. The waitress was very personal and prices were in line with other restaurants. Nice relaxing lunch while visiting the redwood trees.

This place is the best!! It is in a beautiful location on the coast in the Big Sur forest! The food was so delicious and fresh tasting! And positioned right on the creek! After eating you can enjoy some relaxing time sitting in Adirondack chairs in the creek!

Delicious food and beautiful scenery. Relaxed atmosphere every you can sit down for a full meal or grab a drink and head down to the river and sit with your feet in the water.
