Amazing little bakery in the heart of Sandy Hook. Clean, friendly, and delicious menu. Staff was extremely friendly and had the cozy everyone knows everyone town vibe when your in there.

Great section out front to sit, main road bit noisy but there is a nice side patio as well as surprising amount of sitting space inside.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Had never been here before, ordered a 'Too Good to Go' surprise box as a way of checking them out. So pleasantly surprised. You have turned me into a new regular customer after that. Everything looked, smelled and tasted amazing. Can't wait to come back.

Finally found a fantastic bakery in this area!!! Today I got fried avocado for my breakfast. It was delicious and I bought everthing bagel, monkey bread muffin, plain crossaint, carrot cake, macarons, panna cotta and coffee cake. I know I went a bit crazy after the smell of all pastries hit me when I walk in and I can't stop. 🤣 Today I ate carrot cake, plain crossaint, monkey bread muffin and macarons. They're awesome and my favorite one is Monkey bread muffin. Absolutely go back again!!!!

Had my first uncle matts cookie today and I am very happy with what I had. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite type of cookie and this did not disappoint. My job brought them and you would think they just made them very fresh with great taste. I will go and try some fresh ones at some point. Thank you.

My husband and I went for breakfast and were very happy with the food! The olive sourdough bread is perfect, the bagel and lox were delicious, and my husband loved the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. We went back after breakfast for a chocolate croissant. Amazing! So happy to have you in town!

Insanely good homemade bagels. Strongly recommend this place for breakfast. I’m sure everything here is tasty but those bagels were so fresh and delicious.

Do you love freshly made croissants, monkey bread, cronuts, dirt bombs, and other wonderful bakery goodies??? Well this new bakery is the place to go!!! So happy they opened in the Hook, although my waistline may not appreciate it!😂😂😂

Uncle Matt's Bakery & Cafe in Sandy Hook, CT, is a gem! Not only do they offer a wide variety of delicious pastries, but their Cube Croissant, available on Sundays, is out of this world. The texture is perfect, flaky on the outside and soft on the inside, and the flavor is just divine. The cafe itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. A must-visit for anyone in the Sandy Hook area!

I had a fantastic breakfast at Uncle Matt's Bakery! This cafe is very nice, and has everything you could want. The bread on my egg sandwich was so fresh and was very delicious. I will be returning!

I'm never in this area but decided to stop in while visiting a friend today. It was so cute inside and the staff was very pleasant. There is such a nice variety of pastries and I was so pleased to see vegan and gluten free options! I got a fried eggplant sandwich, which is hard to come across in CT, and it was amazing! I used to live in Boston and definitely have missed having good vegetable sandwiches in close proximity. The iced coffee was perfectly sweet and had the nice small ice cubes that don't take up the whole drink. Overall, I really loved this place and wish I lived closer so I would be a regular!

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and coffee. Love that they have seasonal flavors for coffee, try the gingerbread because it's delicious!

Rough to get seating depending on when you go early if you want croissants. Food is delicious. Even at a bakery they had keto items I could eat. Omelettes yum.

Newtown/Sandy Hook used to be one of the best places to have a ton of good breakfast options. over the years some businesses have closed, while others simply stopped caring about the quality of the food they put out. Uncle matts is quickly becoming my favorite place to grab breakfast or brunch, the atmosphere is CLEAN and welcoming, they have a huge variety of baked goods, and their menu has options for any type of food you're in the mood for. It's nice to see that some businesses still care about the quality and service they put out. I would recommend uncle matts over any of the long standing delis in town for breakfast. Keep up the good work!

I was able to finally get to this bakery today. The cafe itself is adorable and set up beautifully. It was very clean and had clear instruction on how to order/pay/etc. The staff was very kind. The food was AMAZING!! The dirt bombs are highly recommended, and I had them slice up the deli rye bread as a gift to my Dad who LOVES this type of bread. He said it was the best he ever had. I also bought a loaf of sour dough and I will be using it for spinach dip this weekend. 100% recommend this place!

Stopped for lunch and ordered a fried eggplant sandwich with mozzarella, roasted red pepper, arugula and pesto on freshly made sourdough bread. It was incredible! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. There is also a nice outdoor patio to relax and enjoy your treat. It's definitely on my favorite list.

This place is one of a kind. A gem in Newtown. Delicious fresh baked bread that’s off the charts. Selection of baked goods to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Had the Avocado Toast with smoked salmon that might have been the best I have ever had. They have salads and sandwiches that looked amazing which I am looking forward to trying over the course of one of my frequent return visits.
Tons of outdoor seating and the owner and staff couldn’t be friendlier.

Great location, plenty of space to park especially in the mornings. Inside is larger than it seems and there is allot of room to eat in, there is a second room with tables in the back right. Food is really excellent, great selection of pastries as well. Their bread is also good, it's all made in premise. I especially like their dark roast coffee.

Lots of traditional choices, the hot and cold New Yorkers are a must, plus some originals that are very tasty. Fresh bread and pastries to go with excellent lattes and hot drinks.

PERFECT! This was a fantastic find traveling back home. Wonderful pastries, excellent coffee and tea, and great service. Saved for future travel!
