First I should say this is more of a food place than a coffeeshop, at least the branch located at Dean Hotel, which is the subject of this review.

We ordered breakfast food here, Deviled Eggs and Stewed Beans, you can check the photos and spot their actual photos and ingredients in there.

We also got coffee, which was served like a brunch place coffee; however, it tasted much different from a typical American brunch restaurant coffee.

Overall, if you’re looking for an actual coffeeshop with a variety of coffee drinks, this location is not yours.

If you’re looking for experimental brunch menus, this is a nice place to try. As seen in the menu you won’t find typical American brunch menu items.

Last but not least, this building used to be a church, which was converted to a night club (or something like that), and now it is a hotel and this coffeeshop is in its first floor.

Place is located inside the Dean hotel with an entrance off the main street. The batista was friendly and made a great coffee! I tried the woodsman and the blueberry muffin which was great. There's a long wooden table you can sit at, along with some cushy chairs and couches. Atmosphere is very chill.

Absolutely one of the best lattes I’ve ever had in the area. Cool vibe in the dean lobby too

Visited in September 2022. We loved Bolt Coffee! The single origin varieties were top notch. We had a Guatemala, Columbia, Ethiopia, and a Peru. This is a very cool location in the hotel. The staff were super personable and also educated us about Bolt's history. This is the original location. They have spanned out to several other spots in Providence. Great roasts, fair trade, single origin, high-quality coffee beans for sale, too! One of the coolest coffee businesses I've seen. Bravo, Bolt from Providence!

I actually didn't initially plan to review this place, as it almost seems like apart of the Dean. But I really enjoyed my experience with them. Their coffee drinks are very well made and their staff seemed very professional and trained. After ordering drinks one of the baristas asked me what our plans were, and so I explained the place we ended to have breakfast. He quickly got out his laptop and showed me another place that was even closer with more options. He even let me scroll through the menu. This was consistent with the type of service that The Dean offered in general, very personal and helpful. I'd stop in at the Bolt even if I weren't staying there!

Great eclectic coffee shop in the heart of Providence roasting their own beans. Americano was on point and the Barista was super friendly and informative. Highly recommend checking this place out. Excellent Third Wave experience. They also have a second location.

Cozy little spot for a quiet cup sitting on their couches or stop by and get it to go. The coffee is delicate and a great morning roast in my opinion. They have some knead donuts first thing. I tried the cortado which was lovely and the drip coffee. The barista said they use the same beans/toast for the espresso and the drip and I really enjoyed both. Definitely worth stopping by.

Cozy, little coffee shop with couches and magazines to take a break and get caffeinated. Roast their own beans and do it well, flavor of the house drip was great. With a little oat milk, couldn’t be better.

The "Huntsman" maple coffee drink is really good, not very sweet which is what I was hoping for. It seemed like it could get very busy, but we got our drinks super quick. Very understated, cool vibes

Coffee here is one of the best flavours I've had since leaving Sydney. I've found even the good espresso places here never seem to have enough strength of flavour, but this place does.

Super friendly baristas with an excellent pour and Knead designer doughnuts. Hotel wifi is free and good. Space is limited though.

Tucked away in the Dean Hotel a top-notch coffee book, with excellent espresso drinks and a mix of comfy and work-y seating.

Considered a 4 Star rating because they don’t open until 8am, which I find annoying as a coffee drinker - but I was thoroughly appeased once I tried the coffee. I don’t care what time of the day they choose to serve it when it tastes that good.

I ordered a Cortado and a drip cup of Columbian (Covid has them not doing V60 pour overs). The shot in the cortado was perfect. Well balanced, no acridity, and subtle sweetness. Best I’ve had.

The drip coffee was delicious. It’s drip, but the quality of the bean and the excellence of their process behind the counter just made it an excellent cup of coffee.

I also grabbed a breakfast sandwich - I had gotten hungry waiting for them to open, after all. Eggs were velvety, brioche bun was pillowy. The decadence was well beyond what I typically ask of a breakfast Sammy. I can not complain. I recommend it heartily.

Service was friendly and clearly very competent in their craft. If you’re in Rhode Island, you’ll be missing out on something significant if you don’t get a cuppa this coffee.

This is a great coffee shop! Definitely hipster, but welcoming! Seating is available with newspapers and books if you don't have anything to read.

They have regular coffee and latte specials. I tried the Nor'Easter which was an 8oz. Eggnog latte with 2 shots of espresso. My husband ordered the mocha latte.

The coffee was priced fairly for 2 shots of espresso, $4.5 each, however I would loved for mine to be bigger. Most of the drinks come in only 8 or 12 oz.

We will definitely be back again!!

It's been a while since I went to a real coffee shop, but I've been to some really good ones. I couldn't have been more impressed. This was a very small place, and kind of hipster, if that's what you're looking for. If it's not, it's still worth checking it out. The coffee was some of the best I've had, and the barista was nothing short of expert. I say that with sincerity, as he truly was a master of his craft, which is a rarity nowadays.

The delightful demeanor of the barista pairs well with some exceptional craft coffee (latitude 49) - photo from the alley out back

The best espresso and latte in Providence, in fact they pull the best espresso in all of Rhode Island. Up until recently, I would use my travel excursions to Boston, NY, Seattle & San Francisco to get my espresso fix. Finally little Rhody has a contender. If you are fortunate enough to meet Brian the owner, he will craft your drink with such precision, that you feel the practice, care and thought he puts into each cup. This place is worth a trip. It's become part of my ritual when I'm in town. You may even see me lounging in the Hotel lobby with my dog & laptop, enjoying myself immensely.

Small but totally chill spot. Great for coffee explorers and experts because their brews are sophisticated! They have wifi. Beware of the rush, the line gets 12 people deep and the single barista holds his own, but the demand is real.

Such a pleasure. Barista is such a pro ... artistic, friendly, and a master of efficiency, delivering little sips of coffee, comfort & cheer in turn. Mocha was smooth and balanced. Highly recommended for a flavorful way to start the day!
