I contracted with BBH to build a family home in September of 2021. The lot needed to be cleared, blasted, etc. The house was completed in Feb of 2022. Other friends of ours contracted to build homes around the same time (9/2021) and still have months to go before completion. We couldn't be happier. Super efficient and quality work. A great family company to work with. Matt, Ryan and Melissa are fantastic. They are now working on phase 2 of the project adding an in-law. It's a pleasure doing business with Better Built Homes.

We are thrilled with our new home! Better Built Homes does an outstanding job & we highly recommend them. Hiring someone to build a home when you live 500 miles away is a little bit crazy, but that's exactly what we did. So...I'll leave you to your own judgement as to the state of our sanity. It was a gamble on our part, but thankfully, it paid off with our beautiful new home.

BBH did a great job with our new place here in NH, and got it done nearly on time (only one week delay!) in the middle of a pandemic, which is no small feat. I've heard of new construction being delayed for months, but thankfully, BBH was organized enough that we never had that problem.

We did have a few bumps and glitches along the way (who doesn't?), some of which were beyond BBH's control. Communication could have been a bit better, but overall, my husband and I have no complaints and I don't hesitate to give them five stars.

I'm also grateful to Melissa for pointing out a bad choice on my part (too dark countertops paired with the cabinets I'd chosen). I was making my choices based on online photos, which weren't always true to color. Her honesty really helped.

The house is beautiful, and any problems/concerns we had were addressed in a timely manner. I would absolutely trust Matt and Melissa and have no hesitation to recommend them and BBH. They are decent, honest people who did a great job in spite of the extraordinary challenges of 2020-2021.

This is our first new build and BBH was extremely helpful during the whole process. We selected a house that was already far along in the process but we still got to add many personal touches and even made some changes that Matt and Melissa accommodated. Instead of saying nope sorry, take it or leave it, as the materials were already ordered, they often went out of their way to make it work. Melissa has great attention to details and covered everything even though she was simultaneously working with other buyers on their home aesthetics. She never pushed us towards any upgrades, and as a matter of fact she was always looking out for our bottom line.

The only issues we encountered were a couple of important items on the punch list that both sides were unsure whose mistake it was (whether it was a lack of communication or mistaken assumptions on how we wanted something done), but in the end Matt and Melissa did not charge us for those fixes. They genuinely seem like honest folks wanting to help people achieve their dream homes, not trying to nickel and dime them. We are not sure other builders would have been as generous. Matt, Melissa and Ryan pride themselves in building good quality homes that will last for many years to come. We have some minor items left to address, but we are sure they will be resolved. We are loving our new home and we highly recommend BBH.

THE HOME IS BEAUTIFUL!
We waited a month before leaving a review since we wanted to live at the home for a while to be able to leave a honest review. BBH did an amazing job on our new home, every aspect of this home is beautiful. We got a bit lucky as we were able to step into a purchase after the house was already framed meaning we got to skip the less interesting parts where land is leveled and foundation is poured and set.
From the start of the process Matt and Melissa met us at the home and walked through the current state of the project and what was left. They explained the urgency of making our selections and were very accommodating to our busy work schedules to meet in the late evening to make those. The selection/upgrade process was honest and transparent, Melissa was clear about the cost of upgrades and didn't push us to upgrade anything we didn't want to. To be honest, the builder spec is very fair - we expanded a bit on the kitchen but other than that and a few electrical upgrades, we didn't feel the need to upgrade much. Matt is very fair and makes several upgrades based on experience building other homes at no cost - it is clear they are more concerned with quality and want the home to come out great even it affects their margins. There were several times where Matt said "that's normally an upgrade, but the home needs it so we'll just do it." The only complaint - and it's a minor one - was that I would have liked to receive a quote for the kitchen upgrades before committing to them. Fortunately it came out exactly as much as we expected, but I think that maybe other buyers would have like to have a chance to change their selections before cabinets/granite were ordered, when the quote was finalized. But maybe this was only because our project was on such a tight schedule and there was no time to reconsider.
After selections were made, Melissa kept in touch and allowed us to arrange several opportunities for us to see the home, either with Melisa, or our realtor. The project never felt out of control and we were kept in the loop the whole time.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and we were even able to move up our closing date a week and move in early.
To address some of the other reviews, I noticed a few people mention communication issues. I agree that it could be a bit easier to get in touch with BBH, but both Matt and Melissa are on-site regularly and I'd rather have them focused on building the home than answering phones. When we needed to get in touch, we simply emailed Melissa and were able to get a response, usually the same day. They are both busy managing their job-sites and I think, considering that, communication was not an issue at all.
After move in, there were some minor issues that we found during our final walk through and in the few days following (paint issues, etc.) but Ryan was/is very responsive and there has been steady progress addressing any concerns we raised.
Overall, we think BBH is a great company to work with and are thrilled with our new home.

My Fiance and I are first-time home owners and this was our first time building a home .We were more than happy with the desired outcome of our home, development and level of help and service delivered from Matt and his entire team. The house came out absolutely gorgeous. They have been there every step of the way to help, provide recommendations and just go above and beyond the call of duty for us (even after we moved in).

Not only did they do a good job for us, but our neighbors who moved in at the same time as us are beyond happy with their home and the development/neighborhood itself.

I would highly recommend going with Better Built Homes, New Hampshire if you are looking to build a beautiful new home.

We have now happily moved into our beautiful new home in Milford, NH and I sincerely want to share this review to help others.😍 Our home was carefully crafted by Matt and Melissa Arel, Ryan and their team of BBH artistans. We moved from NYS and had built 3 new homes there which I could visit every day during construction. I was a little apprehensive about building our new home "long distance" but as soon as we met Matt and Melissa and chose our lot, all the jitters melted away. They competently guided us through every phase of the build and kept us updated on construction progress between our "in person" visits. When we met in person, the highest attention was paid to covid protocols during the height of pandemic. The selections of flooring, tile, granite, cabinets, fixtures etc. were amazingly extensive and of the highest quality. Matt graciously suggested many items which would allow us to "age in place" and keep us safe and comfortable. Melissa guided me through kitchen design and selections with humor and expertise and encouraged my creativity. There were no shortages of building materials
which speaks to the excellent planning and design process of BBH. Curtis Commons Circle (CCC) is a perfectly lovely subdivision and resembles a Tiffany jewel box of house designs and colors.
Matt and Melissa should be extremely proud to have their vision become a reality while treating their clients with respect and honesty. Now that we have had our closing, BBH is still there for us with last minute items. They stand by their product which is rare in our world today. With their help and kindness we have achieved our goal of living closer to our adult daughter and enjoying our new home in our later years. As I prefaced this review, this was our 4th build and absolutely the best and finest!

Great building for meet ups with Matt and Melissa during the construction of our home. We travel from NY for our meetings and BBH is extremely convenient off major highways. Great attention to Covid protocols. Matt and Melissa bring their extensive experience and attention to detail to the building process.

Our home was built in December 2017 by Better Built Homes. It is a very nice well built ranch. Like any new home problems will arise and need to be corrected, our home was no exception. When I called or text Ryan with a concern I received a response in a timely manner. My wife and I have been in our home for 15 months now and all our issued have been resolved. I know that the home guarantee is only good for one year. I texted Ryan Arel on a problem with my deck, knowing the guarantee had expired. The deck rail had separated and pulled away an cracked due to freezing, within two hours Ryan and the carpenter came over an fixed the problem. I am very pleased with our home, and want to thank Better Build Homes for a job well done.

We love our new home! We have built several homes before, and we must say that this was probably one of our easiest building processes. The quality is very good, and we love how they fit the house to be ADA compatable. They were very flexible and easy to work with so our home building went smoothly.

We moved into our Better Built Home in November 2016. This was our first experience in building. The process of customizing our home was great! Melissa, their RE agent, was a huge help and made it very personal. As with any new home, throughout the next year, situations arose that needed attention. Our project manager, Ryan, was available via phone/text to address the issues. Throughout the project and in finishing our neighborhood, they did have to change several subcontractors who were not up to BBH high standards. Now, 2 1/2 years later, we are truly making our house a home. We have brought home our first child into this house and are proud to welcome visiting friends and family.

We bought a new construction home built by Better Built Homes in May of 2017 and had a one year warranty for them to repair defects as defined in their warranty. We had them finish a basement for an extra10k. A couple of weeks after moving in, water was leaking from the 1st floor ceiling from a cracked toiled flange they put in on the 2nd floor- they repaired. We had water leaking into our basement for several months a few months after we closed creating a huge mess and it took them digging up the backyard twice and resealing the bulkhead before the leaking stopped. Our bathroom pipes froze several times and it took them several weeks to correct the issue. We have a tile shower stall and BBH had a tiler install without waterproofing and shoddy construction which resulted in water leaking into the 1st floor for several weeks. They blamed our daughter 1st saying she likely spilled water on the floor. It took almost five months to get this issue corrected with our bathroom tore apart and out 1st floor business office with a massive hole in the ceiling. We had a home inspection done when we 1st bought the home and found multiple issues found that we had to ask BBH to correct such as snap ties not removed, pit /hole in garage floor, missing flashing in rear deck, no seal around gas line, some door trim not painted, missing gutters, large rocks in loam, no caulking between splash blocks & walls, no insulation in soffet above front porch and soffet below fireplace not sealed. Some of the items noted by our home inspector BBH refused to correct stating "they were done according to code"- such as missing J-Channel missing around outside vents, bolts not fastened properly in deck, no firewall in ceiling in garage that's below bonus bedroom, no caulking between granite surfaces and splash blocks in most of the house, incorrect propane conversion of gas range, and rotten egg odor in water (we had to buy a water treatment system- BBH said they refused to buy- that the odor isn't a hazard, just a nuisance. The caulking of the splash blocks was done by the project manager and he made the issue worse since the caulking just dripped down the wall and is now a crusty mess. We had cracked flooring that had to be repaired, bubbled up carpet repaired and tile in the master bathroom that had to be replaced due to bulging. I'd give BBH a 1 except they did finally address most of the issues and most of the house was built in a quality manner- but the fight that we had to go through to get them to fix all of the numerous issue that went on for almost 15 months was almost unbearable. I would not recommend this builder. They don't consistently check their contractors work and we had many instances where they promised to repair items and were a no-show no-call.
7/27/20: Update- After the one year warranty expired, we had our basement flood again, from the same area that BBH had worked on, unsuccessfully. We contacted BBH to notify them that the basement leak that began while under warranty that they didn't correct was still present and they refused to take action. We ended up having to pay almost 5k to repair the leak out of our pocket. We also had frozen bathroom pipes again that began under warranty that they attempted to fix but didn't. The home inspector that inspected the new home for them pointed out that they likely forgot to install an "air barrier" that which caused the freezing pipes. BBH agreed to install the barrier, in which they did, but spilled glue all over our siding and when asked, refused to respond to requests to repair damaged siding. This is why we decided to change to a 1 star- unresolved warranty issues.

We unfortunately had to part ways with BBH after many promises were broken and they neglected to return any of our phone calls (subsequently removing their equipment off our lot without even advising us). While I don’t feel that it’s necessary to go into vivid detail, I will simply recommend that you stay away and find another contractor. I hate to even give them 1 star because they really don’t even deserve that. What we went through with BBH was, quite honestly, the worst experience I’ve ever had as a customer.

As a contractor, if you are looking to do honest work, send a bill and get paid...stay away. If you want to do a ton of work and get a small portion of what you are owed, 90 days later (being generous) while having to call the office every single day, enjoy.
