Amazing coffee, very tasteful interior design, and intentional attention to details. I went out of my way to visit this coffee shop while visiting the area as the reviews and photos looked amazing. It definitely delivered and exceeded my expectations! Their drip coffee was extremely delicious with attention to detail in how it is served to the customer. Very friendly and hospitable service. And a very tastefully designed interior atmosphere made the vibe conducive towards being both relaxed and very productive. It does get busy as it is a very popular spot so make sure to arrive earlier in the day if you can to get a good seat!

The Lobby in downtown Excelsior is the quintessential coffee shop with a charming ambiance, perfectly made coffee drinks, and delicious pastries! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit this morning! The Lobby was packed and the order line was long. Nevertheless, I’m already planning to return on a non-holiday weekend morning.

Beautiful atmosphere, phenomenal coffee & love how it’s served in a mini pot when you order the 16oz for dine-in! Really enjoyed the ham + Gruyère croissant as well

The Lobby is delightful in every way… From the moment you walk in, to the last crumb of your ham/ gruyere croissant. Friendly, prompt, and professional service, too. I could have stayed there all day at the window seat, people-watching and drinking lavender lattes…

This place doesn’t even need any more reviews, it’s such a hot spot!
Whenever I’m in town I make sure to come here for a flat white and a bite to eat. Everything is delicious and it’s one of the only spots I’ve found that makes a flat white!
Super delicious seasonal drinks too :) I love buying from a local shop instead of a big brand.
It can get really busy on weekend mornings bit the service is really fast so give them a chance!!

I don't have many complaints about this new addition to Water Street -- I just wish it happened sooner!

The two best things about The Lobby? The space and the pastries. You can tell that whoever designed the cafe really put a lot of care into crafting a beautiful coffee shop. From the antique tiles to the grand chandelier, not a single detail was lazy. I also appreciated that there was a solid mix of barstools and booth seating. I believe there will be outdoor seating on the back patio at some point, too -- something that is always in high demand in excelsior.

And then there are the pastries... in lieu of homemade pastries, the Lobby outsources to Patisserie 46 for their baked goods. And while I always appreciate a baked from scratch effort first and foremost, you can absolutely not go wrong with a croissant (or two, they aren't massive) from Patisserie 46. Delicious! And it's so nice not to have to go to Mpls to get them.

You can also get smoothies here -- I enjoyed the pineapple matcha. Another menu standout is the affogato (espresso and ice cream). The owner mentioned they will eventually have wine (always a win) as well.

Remote workers can be assured that the wifi is fast... and the coffee is strong! Side note: bathrooms are out the back door to the left and are very nice and clean.

Fans of Smith Coffee & Cafe in Eden Prairie will love the Lobby.

The BEST coffee shop in the western suburbs and probably all of the twin cities! Great ambiance, drinks, service, and now food! This is my husband and I’s favorite thing about Saturday mornings! They thought of every detail in how they present their drinks.

Just stopped in while on a road trip. Excellent coffee, friendly staff, great atmosphere. The macchiato was excellently executed and the cinnamon toast latte was wonderful, sweet but not overly so and balanced. Marking this as a favorite for the next trip through.

Love the Atmosphere and vibe. Banana chocolate chip bread so yummy! Can't wait to try other items. Had hot chocolate,I don't do coffee but I know my coffee snob friends love their coffee. Such a great addition to Excelsior!

Let's say 4.6... Cappucino was in fact that, not a Latte or some other version of a coffee-milk drink - nice presentation (see photo) and good coffee/espresso. I like the default to maple syrup and oat milk in smoothies, not sure if options are available for people that do not - companion liked the Skipper smoothie. Pastries were very good quality. Modern and clean space, looks like maybe a little patio might be in the works out back too. Nice addition to the town.

And then, something I alsmost never do - a reference to another review I read. This is regarding not accepting cash to which my response is "yeah, and...?". I find it inconsiderate when people give a 1-star review, just because one thing is not to their preference when there is a spectrum of aspects to consider. And egregious when that one thing is fast-becoming the norm in society. Maybe drop the rating of your review a little, unless the entire experience was in fact awful - which it clearly was not.

Perfect place to escape the summer heat and busy streets of Excelsior. The barista was very friendly and had a great demeanor when responding to patrons less experienced with upscale coffee.

The cold brew was excellent, full-bodied with light acid and some fruit on the backend. An easy drinker without the need for cream.

There was a lot of seating options. Both tables and high-top bar style seating was available. My only critique would be to add the menu somewhere in the entrance or in the front window for ease of access.

Even though I only drank the coffee (a gorgeously designed latte that had a really rich flavor and needed no sugar..I haven’t had such amazing coffee like that in years!) could tell I was at a high end place…thankfully not with a nose-high attitude. Kira was incredible and genuine. The guy behind the counter was very kind when I almost put my emptied saucer in the wrong place-he enthusiastically answered my question of where to put it. The place is absolutely gorgeous. Some time I will go back to taste the pastries. For a small latte (I think it was small) I paid $6. So I saved the rest for a different day. The folks need to figure out better noise buffering (it was too hard to have a conversation indoors with my client)- then again maybe the design is to encourage you to spend less time there and have more turnover. It’s a gorgeous place.

Drinks are always impeccable, service is A+, the only problem is finding a seat as they are always packed! Their prices are reasonable for downtown Excelsior, and especially for the quality (their wine prices might be the best in the area!).

The Lobby is a great little spot. Its location is perfect, atmosphere friendly and aesthetic, and the service is top notch. Tea, drip coffees, and lattes were all on point. 100% will be visiting again.

Great artisan coffee in a unique historic setting. Staff is friendly and fast. Original coffee flavor combinations. The simple cortado is my personal favorite though. Prices are on the higher end but worth the quality you get.

Well crafted espresso drinks as well as their Matcha Latte. If you appreciate true quality when it comes to coffee and espresso, then check them out. Well worth going out of your way to visit.

Visiting from LA and needed an inspiring space to work from. Love their aesthetic — classy nods to historic Excelsior, while bringing a new vibrant energy to the neighborhood. I was completely delighted by the quality of service and espresso. Best latte I’ve had in a long time!

Busy and short on seating, but the Creme Brulée was fantastic, and enjoyed watching them torch it at the serving counter. The breakfast sandwiches were straightforward and done to perfection.
