Goodwill West Palm Beach/South Dixie Store & Donation Center

Update: I have most recently been met with an "above and beyond" attitude that, in my humble opinion, negates the one negative experience that previously led to my 3 star review.

Much like any retail store, being consistent is very important. I've had some great experiences with staff members here in past visits. Employees have generally been more than happy to help with a variety of different questions or issues.
Unfortunately, as I write this review, I'm in the parking lot without the item that I changed my plans for, driving ~30 minutes for, with another 15 minutes drive to get home. Earlier in the day, my wife came here to look for some craft supplies for her classroom and ,just by luck, found a set of wires that have no value to anyone unless they happen to own the components for which they were designed, in this case proprietary connectors for a quasi-vintage, English-made KEF (not to be confused with the common, low end brand KLH) Home Theatre System. Since she wasn't certain if they were correct, and I was unavailable to receive the picture that she sent me, she ask a staff member what time the store would be open until for me to come by and check them out in person. Just like the sign states, the employee said 6pm.
Upon arrival at 5:53, I was told by a young lady that the store was closed. I tried to explain that I was simply attempting to grab an item that was on a specific shelf, not to go browsing the store. She refused to open the door to hear what I was saying, just repeating the "closed" gesture and turning away each time she opened the door to allow a customer out.
As much as I understand the desire to go home at the end of a long work day, I don't feel that it warrants demeanor towards customers, regardless of what time of day it might be. Furthermore, as I see it, if a store is open for 7 minutes, then a customer should be able to enter the store, even if it is very unlikely that they are going to find anything in that amount of time. it's just one of those small things that separates the good from the Great. Whether it be Publix grocery store in general, or Harbor Freight Tools in Palm Springs, they will welcome you into their establishment even if closing time is a matter of minutes away.
In conclusion I would say that, if it's the goal of a business to be out the door and in their vehicles to depart exactly at the time of closing, a better approach would be to modify the business hours and be willing to fully accommodate customers until the final minute of declared operations.

I LOVE this store! It's a few blocks from my house so I can walk there and I visit often. I have found some amazing things at great prices: for example, two beautifully framed and matted prints for $6 and a Hobart Kitchenaid mixer for $49. I purchased the Goodfriend 25% discount card and am already more than halfway to paying the $25 fee in savings. The staff are friendly and hard-working, there is no end of interesting stuff to look through and the stock seems to change every day. One nice staff member thoughtfully assembles collections of objects that make you stop and look.

Bought a beautiful china cabinet -just what I was looking for; plus an electric deep fat fryer - still in the box, brand new; and a fuzzy bed for my cat.
Lest I forget, the men helping load the cabinet onto my truck were super nice, and strong!

Love, love,love this thrift store. Great prices and friendly staff. Every week they have a certain color tag that is 50% off. They also have a discount day for senior citizens. They have clothes, furniture, baby and kid clothes and gear, books,DVD, home appliances, knick knacks, kitchen items bikes, and much more. They also have a dressing room. Hot dog stand out front for an affordable tasty treat.

Large store. Primarily featuring clothing. Large book and media selections. Friendly staff. Convenient location on Dixie Highway.

I love this place, but I love it even more on Wednesdays! Those 55 and older get an additional 25% off on all items! And the finds, here... ! I shop here at least once a month. :D

The beat Goodwill in all of SoFlo! Go inside and see for yourself. Management is the greatest especially Eddie L. Good clothes finds. Great furniture finds. Located right by the water which ends in great donation results!
