I am 5 months post stroke, which I had while pregnant. This was an ischemic stroke of the cerebellar left side affected. While pregnant I had pre-eclampsia with severe features that led to eclampsia. I also have epilepsy that affects me daily, I’m not allowed to drive. I lost my job due these medical issues. My husband and I moved to Portia, Arkansas so that he could take a job that would better support us and would provide insurance. Saying our lives have difficult is an understatement. My husband called this last week to try to get me in as I am in need of a primary care provider, I already have a neurologist in Jonesboro. He requested to try and get me in with Dr. Spencer. He was told that he would get a call the next day, which would’ve been October the 20th, to see if he could take on a new patient. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday passed by without a call back. I called myself today (while on monitoring for epilepsy) and kindly asked about what was going on, and the receptionist said that there was still not a decision made. I got a call around 3:50 today the 26th and was told that I was “Denied” to be seen. I asked what she was talking about, and then proceeded to ask if anyone else in clinic would see me. She told me if one physician denies to see me, the rest of the providers in clinic would deny me to. What a big welcome to Arkansas. I actually cried on the phone when I heard this. I have never been denied by a clinic and am hurt, confused and distressed. Know that as you think about being seen in this clinic. I’m not one to complain, but I felt I should let others know.

Dr Shawn Peyton is the SLOWEST doctor in the area. You better plan to wait about 3 hours to get in and be seen by her. Every single time you go there you will wait at least an hour past your scheduled appointment time in the lobby then another hour once you get to a room. I switched doctors. My time is too valuable to waste it waiting on a slow doctor. Her bedside manner isn't all that good either. Not very friendly. Kinda seems too goody goody. There's too many other options available to have to put up with such poor service.
