Housing Authority-Polk County

Called West Valley Housing Authority today (5/31/22), whoever they have answering the phone today was very dishonest. My original voucher came from West Valley, I ported out about 8 year's ago. And have been living in Vancouver, WA every since. Just recently I put in a request to port from Vancouver, WA to Dallas, TX, the case manager from Vancouver Housing Authority sent me the forms a few weeks ago saying that she sent everything from Vancouver, WA to West Valley. Well, I called West Valley Housing Authority because it's been about a month and I haven't heard anything. When I called West Valley the lady who answers the phone tells me they don't port out to Vancouver, WA or Dallas, TX. And once I told her that I ported out from West Valley to Vancouver, WA then she changed her tone and asked for my name and then said "oh they're still working on it". I really don't understand why she would be dishonest like that. But mainly I wanted to warn other people to do a thorough check on your paperwork. Because I'm sure this isn't the only time she's done this. People will screw your paperwork up and then act like it's your fault.

Rundown. If you want to apply for housing. They don't do individual house packets. They don't have a list of INCOME BASED apartments for people who live on disability. Which is a requirement for housing authority to have. THEY choose where you get to live which is incredibly rediculous as someone likes me wishes to live in Dallas and not Independence or Salem. They give the excuse that you'll live next to a bus system. But I can't drive and I work in Dallas. Don't bother coming here. Try finding the landlords on their own property and get applications to their apartments. Do not go through housing authority.

I have been waiting for over 2 years to come up on list and now I'm told I have to reapply because I didn't respond to some notice asking if I still want to be on the list. And I know I did reply. Does anyone know how to dispute this and get help? Ty

The lady at the front desk is very rude most of the time. Doesn't make it feel like a good place to go through.

Its was worse than a jail.no privates.being acused of things you didnt do. . if you didnt hang out with the drama queens you were always being talked down or talked about. Gossip all the time. Im glad i dont live in the high rise anymore. 3rd floors the worst. Only 3 good people on it..

Casey is frustrating to try and get ahold of and get things taken care of. So many mistakes have been made due to his lack of professionalism. He just seems like he doesn't care.

I expect to have to jump through different Hoops to be a part of the program but what I'm not going to be able to deal with is the people sitting behind the phone... slow the hell down and listen to what people are saying!!! Listen!!!!!!!!

When your hours are so limited and you’re only open 4 days a week.. it’s important to actually answer your phones for the very small window in which you’re actually open 🙃
