Trident was so much fun that this was perhaps the only place in our 10-day itinerary in Boston that we repeated. They're cafe's menu is absolutely fantastic, and leaves you with just the right amount of options to choose from. The portions are great too, and so are their beverage options.

Had the vegan tofu scramble with mushrooms, peppers, and spinach which was delicious. Seemed like they were too understaffed to be available, but I rate a place mostly on food, and the food was great. Very convenient to do some book shopping after, and they have books on sale.

Trident Booksellers & Cafe is an absolute gem tucked away on Newbury Street in Boston. Upon the recommendation of our daughter, we decided to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. The combination of a bookstore and a cafe is genius, providing the perfect ambiance for both avid readers and food enthusiasts alike.

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality. I opted to sit at the counter and indulge in their renowned lemon ricotta French toast, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. Each bite was a delightful burst of flavor, leaving me craving for more.

The service at Trident was impeccable, with staff members going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. Their recommendations were spot on, further enhancing our dining experience.

In a city filled with dining options, Trident stands out as a true hidden gem. Whether you're a local looking for a cozy spot to unwind or a tourist seeking a taste of Boston's charm, Trident Booksellers & Cafe is a must-visit destination. I can't recommend it enough!

Looking for a spot to enjoy afternoon coffee or brunch with a book. This is the place to visit.

They serve brunch, a good selection of coffee’s the cheesecake is a must try!

The place gets really busy and packed at lunch time specially on the weekends. But nonetheless good place to eat and enjoy some reading. Before heading out you can check out their bookstore and at the center of the store there’s novelty items for gifting.

The place is tight, it would be hard to get into the cafe with wheelchair or stroller.

Great bookstore and awesome cafe! Visited on a weekday. First stop: the cafe. Had the Truck Stop Special ($15.95) which includes two eggs, one pancake, home fries, and choice of meat served with sourdough toast. Thought it was gonna be some fancy-looking, small portions plate, was glad to be wrong. Big breakfast with lots of bacon and a delicious pancake. Service was good too.
The bookstore is so cool, I went twice. Besides the books, they sell a lot of original, artsy and fun stuff that run the gamut from games to umbrellas. I brought home two beautiful hardcovers, some fancy chocolate bars and a cute bookmark.

I LOVE this bookstore! Great book selection, friendly and helpful staff, fun small gifts and stickers. The cafe has a great vibe - grab a seat at the counter and dive into your new book while you enjoy brunch. This is a neighborhood gem!

This cafe & book store had a little something for everyone! My daughter wanted everything she saw…. And so did I. The steps inside are a great opportunity for a fun photo. We decided to dine while there and their hummus was some of the best I’ve had! Sometimes hummus can be grainy but this was so smooth and creamy with a great flavor profile. I got the pita triangles fried which adds a fun, crunchy, yet chewy texture. The muffin grilled was a big hit as well.

We were struggling to find good place for pancakes in Boston. There are places that serve pancakes, but they don't look very appetizing, if you know what I mean. This cafe was fantastic, though. It is neat, and clean, and has some fantastic food. Not only pancakes, but their French Toast is excellent as well.
And the service was super friendly 😄
If we're back in Boston, we'd happily visit again.

Great atmosphere for a casual meal and read. They have a large menu. Students can get the student special on weekdays from 10am-4pm with bottomless coffee, a megatot (hashbrown+cheese), one egg, and french toast for $9.95.

This place is magical. I have nothing else to say. The food is amazing, beautiful and tasty. The waiting staff is kind as well as helpful. Moreover the touch free ordering system is perfect for my introvert brain. The bookshop part is also perfect, offering, a wide range of books, bookmarks and other little gifts. This place is a dream come true.

The ordering system here is so efficient. You scan can a QR code, place an order, and the food will be in font of you.

There are so much food to choose from the menu, and I hope you guys enjoy picking your favorite breakfast. We chose the French Toast and Egg Benedict. The portion here is big enough for us to share.

The atmosphere is nice, you will dine in a bookstore.

Google asked you to rate atmosphere. That is a little bit difficult for this lovely hidden surprise. It’s an actual bookstore with actual books and knickknacks to buy plus a lovely restaurant. So is it romantic atmosphere? Is it a cozy atmosphere? Is it a warm atmosphere. It’s hard to say. It’s suffice to say it’s just a very cool atmosphere. You’re surrounded by all these young people on computers, studying with reasonably priced food in a very expensively priced area. You wouldn’t expect crème brûlée and yet they have crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was prepared perfectly. With a slight touch of lemon 🍋 flavor and a golden caramelize sugar topping. They have a hamburger for $17. They have shepherds pie. Or you can get a small salad and a muffin. It’s just a lovely, lovely place. Service was surprisingly good. Sarah was our waitress and she was attentive. Knew her menu well and very sweet young lady. I suspect she’s a college student. This is where students go to eat in this very expensive high priced area. Look at my pictures. It’s so cool that they have all these knickknacks they sell them along with books. All this, a bookstore 📖 📚 and a coffee shop with great food reasonably priced. For dessert my husband ordered a chocolate Sunday for $2.95. it was a Quality vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, served inside of a coffee cup. Oh, one more thing I can’t have an accurate review without all the “necessary,” description of the details this little coffee shop has to offer.

THEY SELL BEER 🍻 🍺‼

A tall beer for $7. And a small salad for a few dollars. The hamburger was the size of my head. Served with a side of tomatoes, lettuce, and a healthy side of french fries. All that for $17. They have a French dip beef sandwich. I can’t remember everything, just take my word for it.

Do you want a reasonable good meal with Wi Fi and be around all these young people? And a beer 🍺 🍻? Go to the Trident 🔱
It’s a restaurant
No it’s a bookstore
No it’s a knickknack shop.
what it is is cool 😎

No, just go to the trident.

Awesome combination of a bookstore and a cafe with really good food. We dropped in for lunch on recommendation from a cashier at the nearby TJ Maxx, and were not disappointed. I had the Chamato Sandwich (fried chicken with bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, with garlic/chive aioli on rosemary focaccia), which was terrific. The side of fruit was quite large, with ripe strawberries, honeydew, cantaloupe, and grapes. My daughter got the Quiche Lorraine, which was also quite good. The only miss was the Trident Bowl, which my wife got. Service at the cafe was friendly, but our waiter seemed a bit, shall we say, dazed.

The bookstore is great -- huge selection, many sale options, lots of helpful staff recommendations. Here's hoping the small indie bookstore resurgence continues with more shops like this!

Absolutely loved this cafe concept. It’s such a good mix of books and food. Their breakfast menu is amazing. Pro-tip, download the toast app to get a discount when ordering.

The book section has a wide selection of books to choose from.

As a cafe it was a bit of a flop - the ordering and payment system didn't work efficiently and I prefer face-to-face ordering now there's no pandemic. The food was good but expensive.
As a bookshop it did everything it needed and sold me possibly my favourite sticker of all time.

I came here with family and that waffle with ice cream, caramel, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream literally made me start sobbing as my soul left my body and high fives GOD before coming back down.

I was hired to come here and shoot photos of a man as he proposed to his wife out front (which was awesome), but I will come back for the vibe! Staff were super nice - gave me a bandaid that I needed, gave free cookies to the newly engaged... gave me a reason to believe in love again.

Located inside of a cool book store, this Cafe never disappoints. There is a decent amount of seating. The food is always great and the staff is pleasant.

This is one of the best independent book stores I've been to in my life... and it also happens to have an amazing cafe, too? When can I go back? I absolutely adored this place from the moment I saw a picture on an Instagram post. I saw a picture of their stairs, which look like the spines of famous books, on an Instagram story of a teacher I follow. I knew I had to go when visiting Boston. When I found out it was less than a 5 minute walk from where we were staying, I HAD to go. When I finally crossed the threshold, it was like a dream come true. I love books, and it was clear they wanted visitors to enjoy the many books they had. They had a wide variety of books, too. Only wish they had the Horrible Histories books. It truly had something for everyone! And the food in the cafe?! Oh my word. I only had breakfast there, but it was so good that we went back another day to have it again! Each time, it was fast, delicious, and so filling! We still talk about it! I can't wait to go back someday!
