We just happened upon this place, and we couldn't have been more impressed. Everything was perfect! The Christmas decorations were beautiful, the service was outstanding, and the food was amazing! My wife, son, and I shared the New England Feast. SO good! The inside is cozy and comfortable, and the outside is so picturesque. We had a great view of the dam/waterfall from our table. If you're in the area, you'll definitely want to stop here.

This was a recommended to us by a city clerk as the best place to go in Rhode Island for an excellent locals meal. Absolutely everything was wonderful and did not disappoint. The service was amazing and had an excellent knowledge of the menu and food allergy precautions.

Hands down my fav restaurant and I travel 2 hours to come!!! Went for the first time in October- after reading reviews was nervous but one said would be like a “hallmark Xmas movie” so had too see if it would hold up to the praise! It def did. It was amazing atmosphere, salad bar was delicious, food was great and servers were efficient and polite. Came back again in December and even more of that hallmark feel. I’m surprised to see negative reviews because not close to anything we have experienced and I’m excited to see the restaurant in the spring and summer also!

I always enjoy dining here, I’ve been coming here for years. This afternoon I had the French onion soup and fish n chips. I had to pack the fish to go, the portion was enough for 2 meals. Everything here is good! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty meal 😊

I go here each trip back to Mass, and I can say the food is always consistent. The cinnamon bread and salad bar great touch. The Pear Martini the best. The service is top-notch. Thanks for keeping it together and maintaining a great place to go after the pandemic. Not alotnof places can do this. Cheers!

We had not been in over 30 years. What a pleasant surprise. They had a piano player and cello in the bar area. Still had the salad bar. Food atmosphere service were great.

I can’t say enough nice things about this restaurant and staff. We had to completely change our wedding plans and ended up deciding Grist Mill, all in less than 48 hours. They were so accommodating and just wonderful to work with. The day went seamlessly. The food was incredible, people couldn’t stop talking about how good everything was. My only regret was being too full to eat more. They deserve more than 5 stars.

I have actually only been here once before and it was right after the re-open. Unfortunately I was in a terrible relationship and therefore the experience was tainted. This time it was an over all excellent experience. My company was good. The food was exceptional. The service was on point and the atmosphere was calm and classy. I absolutely loved the food and it wasn't as expensive as I originally thought it would be. Less than $100 for 2 people. The cinnamon bread was delicious. The table was near the waterfall. The staff was polite, friendly, and constantly had smiles. The atmosphere was so comfortable and decor was stunning. We had the roast and seafood platter. I also had ordered a Baked French Onion Soup and it was one of the best I have had. Both dinners were cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a date night.

Florida visitors here! And we were BLOWN away by the whole experience! Great food, great service (Maggie ) was amazing 🤩 & atmosphere! The views were so calm & relaxing and beautiful!
We were able to take advantage of the lobster fest and got the 2 lobster 🦞 for $25 which was amazing! Salad bar very good, the bread OMG! But the best service we have had in a long time with Maggie she was excellent so pleasant & accommodating! We hope to make it back there in our future! Also loved the history of the building and that it survived much tragedy because it is a gem 💎 you won’t regret going there!

I ate here for the first time & thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Warm, cozy atmosphere. There was live music of a singer, pianist, & strings player. The selection of songs they chose was awesome. The salad bar was fresh & well stocked. There was cornbread, cinnamon bread & butter provided; which was delicious. I ordered the Beef Wellington, baked potato, & chef vegetable (brussel sprouts). I also had a bottle of Cava, which was great. I wanted dessert, but I was too full. Ryan was my server & he did a great job. The scenery on the outside of this restaurant was beautiful. There was a pond with swans & geese. Rocking chairs were by the pond. There was a small waterfall & an outdoor library box. I sat by the water & read a book after dinner. Would recommend this restaurant 🤍

Great food, great service, and it was my mom's birthday. We enjoyed it very much. They gave her a piece of cake and sang "happy birthday." We had a happy day. 👍🏼

A little expensive, but we're glad we went. Incredible clam chowder. Fish and chips were great. Service was best in Rhode Island so far.

We had an intimate small family and friends function at the Grist Mill on Saturday, 17 February. The party included 32 people with a small cheese and fruit table, beverages limited to wine, beer and soft drinks, a salad plate, a choice of 3 entrees along with coffee and tea. The bread dishes included a very nice corn bread and a sinfully good cinnamon swirl bread. The salads were all generously apportioned with a perfect coating of dressing. The entree offering included a fresh salmon filet that was flakey and moist, yet fully cooked. The poultry option was a boneless breast of chicken that also came to the table moist, juicy and thoroughly cooked. The meat option was a generous portion of boneless prime rib of beef that was presented to each attendee as ordered, from medium rare to medium. All entrees came with flavorful fresh mashed potatoes and simple green beans. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that even though they delivered a large number of entrees to the tables in just a few minutes, everyone’s dish seemed individually prepared. They were appropriately warm and presented in an architecturally aesthetically visually pleasing manner. Throughout the 3+hour event, service was surprisingly attentive. Glasses were never empty, and specific needs were consistently met by the service personnel. Although this group tends not to be very needy, most are discriminating individuals and they enjoyed the food and accompanying service. Our thanks to the Grist Mill catering and event managers, the kitchen staff and the room service people. We brought good friends and family. Your provided tasty high quality food and the kind of service that made the event more enjoyable

Very festive for Christmas.
Old styled 1980s salad bar anything you think you might want in a salad is at the salad bar. Homemade cinnamon raisin bread and regular bread.
Winter menu I had the rack of lamb medium rare with mashed potatoes.
Exceptional high quality lamb cook to perfection in the mashed potatoes were delicious. Service was impeccable ! Everything was served hot. One of my favorite places. Originally built in the 1700s as a gristmill for flour and grain. Still has the paddles and the falls from the lake to power the grinding of the grains. A little more expensive than other restaurants in the area. However it's worth it for the service and higher quality meats and .......
