Altered Tails Barnhart Clinic, Phoenix

My neighbor found a sick, stray dog roaming the streets of Tempe. She knew if she took her to the shelter, that she would likely be euthanized, so she took matters into her own hands. After a couple animal hospital and vet visits, it was confirmed that the dog had pyometra and needed immediate surgery. Not only was it devastating to watch an animal suffer, but the cost to save her life was exorbitant.
My friend was recommended to Altered Tails. The experience at Altered Tails was EXCEPTIONAL. These people truly, TRULY care about animals. Not only did they do the surgery at an affordable price, but every single person we interacted with were phenomenal. We felt a major sense of relief here - it literally brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to every single person who helped us and saved this dog’s life. The doctor, the techs, the girl who helped us at the front desk. Everyone! You are all so amazing. Thank you for what you do.

Was a little bit hard to find where to go for vaccine clinic. You're supposed to drive to the back to drop off and then drive to the front to pay and pick up.. it's a long way around to the back with no signs but there's a little fenced in area you pull into. Aside from feeling lost momentarily, it was a much better experience than the vaccine clinic at Petco. Maybe I was just really lucky that it was practically empty, but I was in and out quickly with my dog. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Friendly staff, great prices and loved duke like their own. He was happy when we left and happy when we picked him. All you could ask for when you leave your pet in someone elses hands

Did a few TNR with some community/stray cats from my area. Staff was extremely helpful & kind in explaining how to set humane traps, walked me through the process on how to care for cat prior/post surgery.

Very thankful to know there are hardworking people out there who also care for the well-being of the free-roaming cats.

Team was great, shot clinic for my dog went smooth and they really cared about his health and ensuring his shots were up to date.

We were a little nervous to take our kitty to the clinic for her spay versus going to her regular vet. But, we had an awesome experience! No issues (on her second week of recovery), and now she is all up to date on her vaccinations as well. Awesome price! :) Only issue was getting her to take her medicine post op..LOL

I have taken so many cats here and every time they take such good care of my fur babies! The staff there are all very knowledgeable and caring. It's always a great experience when I go there.

Great place to take your pets. Employees are fantastic and loving to your pets when you drop them off and pick them up. If something extra needs to be done, they call to ask if it's ok to proceed, I really appreciated that. Would definitely bring my pet to them again!

Great veterinarians and support staff... I was especially impressed with their method of efficiency! You go in the morning, drop your pet off, and then you come back at 5:00 to pick them up. They will only call you if there's an issue. This system is very easy and the most efficient method I could imagine to get as many animals neutered and spayed as possible. And after all, this is the point of a neuter/spay clinic... So bravo to them for setting it up this way! 😊 Very happy with how smoothly the whole ordeal went... And you absolutely won't beat the price here! Other hospitals charge upwards of $400-$500, but my female cat who was also pregnant at the time, was taken care of here and it only set me back $25! Prices most people can handle, even if your struggling financially - So there really are no excuses not to do this for your pets anymore! I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking to get their pet spayed and/or neutered for sure!

Everyone was really kind and the whole process was soo fast. Flawless Dropoff & Pickup. Zero paperwork had to be done at the site. They sent an email prior to pickup to pay online, super convenient!

This place was great it's an affordable option for taking care of the necessities for our fur babies. Everyone there seemed very very nice helpful and caring. I highly recommend it

these folks do a good job but they run a tight ship. you have to adhere to their time frames and follow their directions. I believe because they deal with so many animals on a daily basis it is difficult for them to make exceptions to rules that they make. make sure to set up an appointment over the phone and fill out the paperwork via the email they get you. if they tell you to come back at 4:00 p.m. don't come early or late. come at 4:00 p.m. . if you follow these tips you'll have a good experience with them. also if you have an appointment early in the morning try to get there early so you can get in line.

I was nervous to drop off our kitten for her spay, some vaccinations, and microchip for many reasons, but as soon as I stood in line and saw how the staff were talking to other pet parents, I immediately felt better. No one's babies were "pets" or "animals", the staff called every single floofer "babies" and "kids". I know that this is silly, but we don't have human children of our own, so our floofers are cherished family members, and I felt so much more comfortable leaving my kitten with this team because of how they spoke to us as pet parents and about our sweet floofs. The staff was patient and kind even though they were busy, they answered all of my questions, and were professional, but personal. I really feel that the employees here believe in what they do, this isn't "just a job".

As to the actual procedure, my kitten recovered wonderfully! I have heard that a smooth recovery is often a sign of a great doctor/surgeon/vet. This may as well have just been the patient (my kitten), but her recovery was smooth. We are about 10 days post-op now and our kitten is doing great. Other than her shaved belly, no one would even know that anything happened.

Kuddos to the staff at this clinic. Even still today, I am thankful and comforted by their excellent care. If we add another floofer to our home while living in Phoenix, we will certainly go to this clinic again.

LilMiss was taken care of at Altered Tails. The staff are amazing. She was chipped and spayed. Her incision is neat and clean. She hates her daisy cone. Lol

Affordable!! Easy signup online, quick dropoff, and pick up. Have taken all pets here for spay/neuter.

My dog wasn't expected to live through the operation they performed. She survived and is as active as she was as a puppy. The cost was a fraction of what I was quoted at my usual vet. Can't say enough good about them. Thank you
