Steve and South Eastern Carpentry replaced our large wooden deck recently. My wife and I had estimates from a number of high-quality contractors over the past 5 years before deciding to proceed with the project. When we decided to go with South East Carpentry, I was very impressed by Steve's finish work and his level of detail carpentry that was beyond what any others provided. What astounded me however is that when the work commenced, the amount of time and materials Steve put into reinforcing our substructure before even building our deck. No other comparably priced quotes from some very good contractors included this level of analysis and revision of the existing substructure, that was in very good condition to begin with. Beyond that, the finished deck is beautiful with unique detailed joinery that is Steve’s ‘signature’. Materials were of the highest quality available. Everyone who sees our deck make unsolicited comments of its beauty. Steve is exceptionally honest and fair, and was a pleasure to work with. We could not recommend his work more highly! South Eastern Carpentry demolished our old deck and built a new Azek composite 31' x 18' deck with Key-Link railing and horizontal cables, including a whole new frame, stairway, and several footings. We cannot remark positively enough about Steve, the owner, and his crew of John and Joe. They hold themselves to exceptionally high standards in quality and professionalism, are personable, and communicate well. The new frame greatly exceeded building code standards, and our town Building Inspector remarked privately to us that he greatly respected Steve's projects among all the work he examines. A couple of unforeseen problems came up during the construction which Steve was able to solve on the fly, but Steve nevertheless stayed within the contract price and finished the deck when he said he would. They have a very strong work ethic, as evidenced by their excavating 4-foot deep footings by hand in 95 degree heat. Even though this was Steve's first Key-Link horizontal cable deck, he quickly progressed through a steep learning curve to a point, at the end, where he could have given Key-Link's engineers a few pointers about how to improve their product and make it easier to build. Steve and his crew took a level of expertise that is expected from finish carpenters, and applied those same skills and levels of quality to our deck.

South Eastern Carpentry recently rebuilt my screened porch. We had a few contractors come out to bid the job. South Eastern Carpentry was not the cheapest, but they are the best. Right from the bid stage, we knew Steve and his crew were the right team. Steve told us exactly what his plan was and he executed to that plan. We chose the best decking material available; Azek. The team came on time per their plan, and stayed a week, per the plan, doing the work. Their attention to detail was amazing. The quality was 2nd to none. They finished on time and met their quote. The final job is perfect. We love our new porch. It looks amazing. You exceeded our expectations! Thanks Steve and crew. Great job!

There is not one thing that could have improved in our experience with Southeastern carpentry! They were fast, they were neat, they worked great together like a dance! I have worked with South Eastern Carpentry on several renovation projects. Strechting from full custom kitchens, baths, basement bars etc. Steve and his men take true pride in their work! I can honestly say their attention to detail at the first meeting to the very last final walkthrough surpasses everyone’s expectations. They simply love what they do and care about the final project, as if it was going in their own homes. I recommend them and only them for projects within their area!

Stephen is a Master craftsman that takes pride in his work. As a fellow carpenter I pay special attention to the details in the work he does and I am constantly going over all of his job photos to see if I can pick up a few things. In our trade you are always learning and personally I want to learn from the best. This man is one of them. Anyone that hires him to build a deck, remodeling a kitchen or bath has definitely made the right choice. I often will call him for advice and pick his brain on jobs when needed and he is always there to offer his wisdom.
