Captain David Kelley House

We just returned from a fantastic weekend at the Captain David Kelley House, managed by Rick and Tom. From the moment we stepped through the door, their warm hospitality enveloped us, making us feel like cherished guests in their home.

The cozy atmosphere of the inn, coupled with the impeccable cleanliness and tasteful decor of the rooms, provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway with my family. The rooms were quiet and the beds were so comfortable! Even the playlist for the background music playing throughout the inn was thoughtfully compiled, adding an extra layer of ambiance to our stay. (Music snobs will be happy here!)

And let's not forget about the breakfasts! Each morning, we were treated to a delicious 3 course meal that included the most incredible homemade scones we've ever had. Rick and Tom's culinary skills truly shone, making breakfast a highlight each day.

Overall, our weekend at the Captain David Kelley House was nothing short of perfect. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth made our stay truly memorable, and we can't wait to return for another visit.

Hosts Tom and Rick made us feel like cherished guests from the start. Impeccably clean rooms exuded old-world charm, and Tom even gave us a tour. Festive holiday decorations added warmth. The 1856 Country Store next door was a charming bonus.

Breakfasts were a culinary delight, with Tom and Rick's lively company making each meal memorable. The 'scone wars' were a highlight, showcasing their baking prowess. This isn't just a B&B; it's a passion project evident in every detail.

Our stay was truly enchanting. If you crave an experience beyond the ordinary, Tom and Rick's haven is the perfect choice.

WOW! This B&B is awesome! My husband and I went to Cape Cod, while Hurricane Lee was looming off shore, just waiting to pounce. We were pleased with our choice of places to stay. The owners Rick and Tom were so amazing, so much fun, made our stay worth every cent. The rooms are beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. Location was perfect, easy to travel around and back. And of course, the scones and the scone wars were awesome!! This place is worth the trip to Cape Cod, I’d give this place two thumbs up!!

I enjoyed the Scone wars, I enjoyed their warm and friendly manner. Their other guests reflected their mood, so it was an all around good time. You cannot go wrong at all by staying here. I would only recommend you book more than one night as you will only experience one show and one chef's scones. I would go back, but I would ensure I got to taste the other chef's take on the scone. This is our "go to" place on Cape Cod and we have been coming to the CDK House for at least ten years. The ambiance is fantastic, thanks to the hosts, Rick and Tom, who do everything in their power to ensure your stay is memorable. The location is handy for beaches, restaurants, shopping, and yet is nestled in a quiet, historic district, where probably the only noise is the sound of the laughter generated by Tom & Rick's "entertainment" at breakfast. The antique-filled rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and immaculate. The historic house has attractive covered porches and lovely grounds. This is a popular place, so book early if you are planning a visit, and if for no other reason, go for the scones ! You won't be disappointed.

The Captain David Kelley House is the BEST place to stay on the cape!! The house itself is historic and charming, the rooms are phenomenally decorated and incredibly clean, the breakfast is top notch, the yard is beyond peaceful, and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. Rick and Tom are the most hospitable and generous humans, and you can tell they go out of their way to make every guest feel welcome and comfortable.

No better place could possibly exist on the Cape! Rick and Tom are the most gracious and fun hosts! The place is gorgeous, the scones and other breakfast treats (all homemade) are superb. You'll also enjoy their "little bit of Ptown" appearance!

if you want to experience a fantastic BB on the Cape, go nowhere else. Breakfast is amazing, healthy, well presented, scones are to die for, clean, well maintain to the finest of details, they know the entire cape very well and offer fantastic recommendations on what to do while you stay there, they have all what you need to just enjoy and relax.. Rick and Tom are multi talented and they just do everything well and as one would come to expect. Upon arrival, our flag was flying, how thoughtful. It made us feel very welcome, not just like another customer. We have stayed at this BB for many years and would not go anywhere else.

I am hesitant to write a review because I want to keep this amazing B&B to myself!
The house has been beautifully restored. It was lovingly appointed, immaculately clean and comfortable. And I can't say enough how wonderful the hosts are. They truly care about their guests. The scone war rocks! I am already planning my next trip to Cape Cod just so I can stay here.

Thank you Rick and Tom for the most amazing two days! I slept like a baby, laughed till I cried, and ate the most delicious healthy food!

The house is beautiful, cozy and warm; everything was perfect.

We were there with family attending a wedding in the area. We occupied many of the rooms of the CDK house, so I can attest to the experience across many of the rooms and house. Every room was well appointed and very well thought out. The furnishings, bedding and amenities were outstanding.

We've stayed at many B&B's across the country - but what really made the CDK house stand out were the hosts. Tom & Rick are clearly proud of what they've created, and it shows in the rooms, their welcoming, helpful, caring approach and the wonderful breakfast served each morning. Breakfasts were fantastic (we still can't bring ourselves to vote for the winner of the scone wars!) - - but the accompanying entertainment was fantastic. We are extremely appreciative to Rick & Tom on their hospitality, and we are the better after meeting them.

Tom and Rick are The Perfect Hosts - open, friendly, funny, gregarious, and have an amazing eye for any and all details that would provide the most enjoyable stay possible. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and elegantly appointed; the breakfast was gourmet-quality (honestly, you couldn't find a better breakfast on the Cape if I tried!). Thank you for making our long weekend on the Cape such a pleasure!

There are no more superlatives we can think of. Outstanding, Superb, Excellent, Amazing.
The Inn itself is absolutely immaculate. The rooms, and the grounds are incredibly maintained.
Tom and Rick are so hospitable and welcoming that it’s wonderful to see that there are still some really nice people left in the USA.

The gracious hosts along with the wonderful breakfast have no equal. The scones are to die for. The entertainment is top notch and puts an added step into your day.

As an elder millennial I've never dine the whole bed and breakfast thing. My sister and I decided to take our 77 year old mother to the inn this weekend for our annual Christmas getaway. Since we have been driving by it our whole lives when we are on summer vacation We thought.. Hey let's give it a try!! Rick and Tom's warm hello, hilarious banter, attention to detail, absolutely fabulous breakfast / show were much appreciated added bonuses to the already fascinating historical home. We slept great, ate well, relaxed, and laughed our mermaid tails off 😄. What a pleasant experience for an elder millennial, a gen X -er , and a Boomer.

Breakfast is always above and beyond at CDK. You never know who might pop by.
Location is great to access many areas of Cape Cod conveniently.
You’ve stayed other places, but you will definitely remember and talk about THIS one for years to come.

The rooms were clean, comfortable and well decorated, the food was great but the best thing was the two owners! Tom and Rick were so fun and nice. They made us feel welcome. They entertained us and made us feel like we parted as friends. I would highly recommend a stay at the Captain David Kelley house!

This was by far the most amazing experience we’ve ever had! Tom and Rick are the kindest, most amazing people and truly make the experience unique and memorable. The breakfast is better than any fancy 5 star hotels we’ve ever stayed at, and their fresh scones are WOW! We didn’t want to leave and will be booking again ASAP!

If you are looking for a place to get away, be entertained and have some laughs this is the place! From the beautifully landscaped grounds, to the charming screened in decks, to the elegant sleeping quarters, you are in for a treat!

Staying at CDK was absolute perfection! Tom and Rick go above and beyond to make your stay extra special at every turn. They are welcoming and have created a beautiful oasis for their guests! We stayed in the Rachel Room and loved every minute! Down to the linens, every detail was well thought out and planned. Breakfast every day was impeccable: fruit, scone, and an egg dish of sorts served atop beautiful china. The shows Rick and Tom put in daily are highly entertaining! The only regret I have is not taking a nap in the hammock below with my book - oh well, next time! I’ll definitely be back! Thanks, Rick and Tom! We love CDK - you’ve done an outstanding job with it!

If I could give 10 stars I would. Rick and Tom are amazing hosts and this house is perfect for a weekend at Cape Cod. This was our first trip to Cape Cod and we feel like we got the full experience.

Breakfast was delicious and entertaining. I won't get into the fun details because it would ruin the surprise. Eating in an outdoor screened in porch was the perfect start to the morning.

Rick made us reservations for a restaurant we wanted to go to, he suggested great places for dinner, ice cream, shopping, and a bike ride.

Tom has scones ready to go for us on our departure day. We had to leave early in the morning and he had scones in a to go bag for our trip. I cannot say enough about their hospitality.

Book here and you will not be disappointed. We stayed in the Rachel room. We liked this room because it has a private entrance and an on suite. My wife loved the cape cod charm in the decor- it made us happy to come back to the room every night.
