Currently the ICU department and staff are fantastic! They are very understanding to our situation, informative and willing to communicate. They are and have been amazing in the care of my friend and baby daddy and understanding of some information is not to be said in front of our children. Respectful, courtesy, knowledgeable and good bedside manner. It says a lot about a hospital. I'm grateful to have them tending to him.

Update:
He passed 11-21-17. After he fought starvation for about 6 weeks as well as dehydration. The attending physician and surgeon decided to push and bully a decision to put him in hospice or not. Mind you even the lady from the hospice that helped arrange it for us did not at all cover what was actually happening. I asked for a second and third opinion but because I could only Be in the hospital for the duration of the visit, I never got one. Did not always get to see the doctor either. Visits were about 4 hours long like 3 to 4 times a week. I watched him get better and showing signs to having the Annasteciologist give him a sedative which it was listed to NOT give him any because it could cause another stroke or heart attack. Breathe....breaths had to be at a minimum of 16 reps on his own. But never wanted to give him the chance. He should've been alive today. Forced to sign dnr papers and hospice papers. Not ok at all. We weren't even called when he passed like they said they would. I was notified hours later and asked if he was a donor. He wasnt but the took anyways. This place is rude mean disrespectful and non observant.

I asked to speak to my grandfather who we hadn’t heard from in over a day and was placed on hold without being checked on for over an hour. Multiple family members called to check the status of my grandpa or at least speak to his doctor and we were refused the information. When I called to speak to my grandpa directly, the first person who I spoke to was rude and just transferred me to the emergency room. The next person I spoke to place me on hold so I could speak to a nurse. I asked to speak to my grandpa not a nurse. I waited on hold for over an hour without anyone checking on me before the call was disconnected. I understand these are difficult times but this was the most horrible experience I’ve had over the phone. If I could give 0 stars I would. Honestly someone should teach these people some common courtesy and phone etiquette. This is an 80 year old man who doesn’t speak English and we’re all concerned on how he’s being treated and we can’t even get that.
