North Mountain Trail 44 has become a cherished favorite for me and my companions. Its moderate difficulty level and convenient location near my residence make it an ideal choice for a quick outdoor getaway. The well-maintained and pristine trails enhance the overall hiking experience. This trail is always bustling with activity, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. Plus, the panoramic views of Phoenix and the stunning backdrop of Camelback Mountain only add to its allure. Highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable hiking adventure!

This is the best little hike in all of North Phoenix. It’s a short walk to the top for a beautiful sunrise/sunset. You can take the paved road or walk up the slightly more strenuous back path for a little scramble action. It’s an easy hike for the pups as well.

My boyfriend and I happened to hike this mountain on the most beautiful day, (cloudy and windy)! This hike/trail is super fun, family friendly, and beautiful! Do be warned, the first bit of the trail does have quite the incline and consists of rock and gravel.

Been hiking here for years. Good workout and beautiful view and very close to the city. They have a park for kids and restrooms at 2 locations. The park was having some upgrades to the playground when we went this time so it is currently closed but I’m excited to see them upgrade it and I’m gonna miss the old one.

This is a great park with a 45 minute mountain hike, with a paved side and rocky trail side. Both paths lead up to towers with fantastic views. The hike may be short but is steep, and perfect for quick workout and mediation after work, or weekends. In addition there are walking paths at the base, and pavilions for meetings or events, such as family BBQ

One of my favorite hikes. It’s a steep one, but the paved road helps. And if you take trail #44, you get a nice mix of both. Beautiful views all around!

My son loved the mountain, and he saw a wild rabbit first and other wildlife. It wasn't crowded, and everyone kept a respectful distance.

Love this scenic hike! Best time to go is at sunrise, the view is breathtaking and the wildlife is an exciting plus!

Penny Howe Trail is a nice stroll through the mountain on a freshly paved path. It's listed as .5 mile but it feels even faster. This is a great option for strollers or wheel chairs.

The playground is a short drive away (or could walk it). It's pretty basic and a bit rusted, but just fine.

Bathrooms are easy to get to and covered picnic tables are abundant.

This is my happy place!!! ☺ At 2,104 feet above sea level, the hike is challenging but absolutely worthwhile, and the views are so incredible!!! Feels like being out in the desert even though it's right in town. The hills block a lot of traffic noise, and sometimes I take off my earphones just to listen to the silence ❤❤❤. Also, there is a lot of wildlife in this park. So far I've seen a dead raccoon (!), bats, kangaroo rats, rock squirrels, chipmunks, cottontails, quail, roadrunners, and of course, SCORPIONS!!! They usually only come out at night during summer (they hibernate in winter), and I enjoy carrying a black light flashlight to observe them - and also to know where they are so I can keep a respectful distance! 😆 One time not five feet away from me, two javelinas emerged from a culvert and commenced climbing the hill. There are also rattlesnakes, coyotes and birds of prey in this area so a lot to watch out for! During warmer weather (April-October), please make sure to bring a lot of water, as people often underestimate the heat and end up in trouble. To avoid the hot sun in the summer, people flock to the park around sunset so I feel perfectly safe climbing the hill alone, even at night. One more thing: most park restroom stalls have no doors, apparently for children's safety. The restrooms are locked at 5, 6 and 7 so if you don't find one open before 7 pm, keep looking. Update: last year I saw 0 snakes. This year, so far I've seen at least 4! One of them was a rattler.

I have loved this place for years and will keep making memories as long as I can. At times it seems like I'm the only person here it's such an awesome place especially when the full moon comes up it's breathtaking. The rangers have been watching over me god bless them they have enough to do yet have been making sure I'm ok not many would care for this old woman they are very special to me and God bless them I told them my hopeless homeless situation and why I'm here enduring this scorching heat. 60 homeless disabled and widowed living in my car with 2 cats. I didn't feel judged. Thank you, North mountain Rangers God bless and keep you safe.

This spot is totally gorgeous and normally while perhaps not really normally enchanting. Show up with from companions and partake in the sunset, you can do a decent vertical climb or track down a spot to sit and chill. Saw a bird of prey and was captivated by the geologic extraordinary ness of a portion of the landscape.

Great morning weekday hike. We always walk from our place on 12th St, but there's always open parking if you need to drive. Dog friendly too, which is nice in the cooler months. It's takes us 15 minutes to the top, keeping up a good pace, but could be a nice slow hike too.

Great park. Many hiking trails. Ramadan if you want to cook or have a picnic. Great views of the mountains. It can get packed, but there is still plenty of room

This is a great hybrid hiking spot. What I mean by that is when you take the mini hike up, it is not paved, but once you get to the paved area, it goes all the way up and down being paved. You don't have to worry as much about your footing, which is nice since it is like the street.

There are many other spots for hiking trails, too, if you want that instead. We even found a secret spot that takes you off the paved area, which was kind of cool. Definitely check it out. It's a great high intensity incline workout if you want it to be.

Very fun hiking trail, it is pretty intense so if you’re a beginner I would try a side that’s a little more simple but other than that it’s awesome 😁

Beautiful and has several different options for exercise and fun! They have several bathrooms, a playground, a wheelchair accessible nature path, and several good hikes that take you to higher points for wonderful views! You can also walk or bike the circular drive that loops around the park -
.8 miles around.

There are 2 different parking lots, the second lot closer to the path has some benches with covers and 2 portable bathrooms. The path going to the pavement is a little rough and has lots of rocks. Pet friendly, the view at the top is beautiful.
