MFRP Parking Lot

Many marked trails with off shoots to many cliffs for climbers. Seems like most cliffs have steel mounting points for carabiner attachment. Gorgeous views and creeks/streams all throughout. Truly a site to see! 😁

We went out to the parking lot from Miguel's right after a thunderstorm to do some climbing at Infirmary. Just be aware there isn't really anything below a 5.10 that's fully covered and climbable.

We were in a 2wd dodge dart and this is a little guide of our experience getting there in hopes someone will find this useful.

Coming from the north is longer and has one steep hill that we couldn't get up...we spun out coming back. We took the south way with the 2 creek crossing both ways and were able to get in and out. The creek crossings were really not bad at all maybe like 3-4inches of water max, but the hill after the first creek crossing on the way in is really steep so be cautious.

We made it out but it definitely was a challenge and stressful and probably damaged the cars undercarriage...if its dry you'll probably be fine it was the rain that made the roads slippery.

Climbing was great especially on a rainy day but you probably want a 4wd car that is raised up a little bit.

The roads don't REQUIRE 4wd but it will take some ground clearance. This road gets worse with time and sometime requires emergency maintenance if we have a hard rain. That being said 2wd will make it but don't spin your wheels everywhere it washboards the hills and digs mud holes that will soon make it impassable yo 2wd vehicles. There is a southern and northern entrance the northern entrance is a steeper hill but the southern entrance has 2 creek crossing one has a small cruxy hill the other can get deep and requires ground clearance.

Depending on the time of year there's plenty of parking if you get there by 10 am. If it's prime climbing you need to get there before 9. Learn to make rows and keep the parking side to side close. If you park long wise in the middle you are going to make life more difficult for everyone. Please park to maximize use of the parking lot. Do not park on the side of the road crushing the foliage. If there is no more parking you need to head somewhere else. 🙃

All in all have fun climbing respect your surroundings and pick up after yourselves.

I love that they have a nice big lot and a pit toilet here.

It's a good sized parking lot with a vault toilet. Don't park if it's super full. Will make it hard for other to leave.

The ride down was amazingly fun. You better have 4wd! The pit toilet at the parking lot is deadly!

The road in can be sketchy on a dry day with 2wheel drive. But the climbing makes it worth it.

Park and climb or hike your heart out!
