Tarahumara Restaurant

Very different Mexican Restaurant experience than I am used to but it is some of the best Mexican Food I have ever had. They have a regular restaurant, a separate bar area, and their own Mexican Bakery. We had their tamales and chili verde. Their tamales had the most meat I have ever seen in a tamale. They were very delicious and something worth taking a picture of. Their chili Verde was also very good and full of succulent pork that tasted amazing. Definitely a place worth stopping at in a small town where you don't have many dining options.

Wonderful Mexican good and service and such a good place for kids and large groups. There isn’t much to eat in midway so it’s great that this place is there and provides a sit down experience with lots of options. I got the steak fajitas and was happy. You have to try not to get filled up in chips with all the amazing salsas that are available. I would recommend stopping by if you only have a few days in Midway

Not only do they have an extensive menu of Northern Mexican cuisine like tacos, burritos, tamales, enchiladas, fajitas and tostadas, they have an amazing made-fresh-daily salsa bar with over 20 offerings! It’s currently not self-serve amidst Covid precautions, but they give you a salsa bar menu and will bring you as many selections as you choose. My favorite was the pineapple-mango salsa and cilantro crema.

For lunch I choose the Carne Asada and Birria tacos with a side salad instead of the usual rice and beans. The side salad of fresh field greens was above and beyond the average side salad. It was garnished with corn, cojita cheese, and seasoned tortilla strips. Highly recommend the passion fruit dressing with it.

Our seating on the outdoor patio in the back for a late lunch was perfectly shaded, quiet, and with just enough sunshine warmth to want to linger longer. Sounds like they may have live music on the weekends evenings, though you may want to visit their website to verify.

Well worth the beautiful drive up Provo Canyon to enjoy Tarahumara Restaurant and Bakery in Midway, Utah!

This awesome local restaurant was recommended to me by one of my friends that travels a whole lot! She said that we absolutely had to stop here while in Midway and we would totally be missing out if we didn’t. My best friend got the shrimp tacos and I got a combo with shrimp tacos/burrito! SO GOOD! Everything was cooked perfectly with so much flavor. Great portion sizes too!

After we had our dinner, we ordered a desert that our friend raves about. The cheesecake chimichangas. Absolutely one of the best deserts I have ever had! If you don’t give them a try when you’re here, you’re crazy! Aside from the food, our waiter was so friendly and really attentive! Seriously one of the best restaurants I’ve gone to and it’s a huge step up from all of the tourist traps and chain restaurants in Heber! This local restaurant is a gem!

Very good food! Fresh ingredients and lovely salsa bar. Nice to have some veggie options and not have everything drenched in cheese. Some of the best Mexican I've had in a while.

Fantastic food and service, will be going back! All of the salsas are delicious (the pineapple one especially) and the chips are great. The kids meals have good portion sizes. The cocktails are also amazing. I highly recommend Hurachan, passion fruit juice and lime with lots of spiced rum! They have a cantina side of the restaurant for 21 and older. Large space for families and a great patio area. The tequila orange shrimp with vegetables was delicious and light, the vegetables were cooked perfect. Polo asado burritos were good. The beans and rice are also great. Big scoops and guacamole and sour cream with each meal. The side salad was delicious with the creamy cilantro salsa/sauce.

Every meal we've had here has been delicious! Good service, excellent salsa bar, and the BEST churros you'll ever eat!

Excellent! After moving to Utah from Arizona, it took us a long time to find truly good Mexican food. Even though that was years ago, this would have been one of our best finds. The fajitas were a huge portion, the meat was nice and tender. My wife's tacos were very good. The Cadillac margarita was made well, no cheap drink mix involved. An added bonus is the choice of 16 different salsas for the chips, small portions so that you can sample, and the big bowl if you decide to pay for one is absolutely huge! Great service as well. We'll definitely come back when we come back to the mountains, and the place looks like it's hopping when there isn't a pandemic to worry about (We happened by at 4 pm on a Monday, so it wasn't as busy). Definitely a great choice.

From what my parents tell us this restaurant changed hands (new management) recently, and this was our first visit in a while. My Wife and I thought the food was outstanding. They serve free chips and salsa. They had "many" different salsas at the two salsa bars and every flavor was Very Good. The service was great also. We will eat there again.

Excellent Mexican good and margaritas! 5 star service. We went in on a Saturday night and it was getting quite busy. The owner, Andrew, noticed we had not ordered drinks yet and he came over to our table and made sure we were taken care of. He asked Stephanie, who was in another section to make sure we were served without delay. She was great, with good food recommendations and she was very attentive to our table. We loved the salsa bar and our food was really good. Can't wait to go back!

We started going to Tarahumara when we moved to Midway 3 years ago. We've always liked it, but it's obvious that the new management is working very hard to improve the restaurant. I love the salsa bar and always order the fajitas. Portions are generous and the food is much healthier than a lot of other options when eating out. I love this restaurant, and it's great to see how busy they are, especially on weekends.

A wonderful experience - they have a salsa bar that was amazingly tasty, and we had terrific service from both our hostess and our waitress. The food was delicious, considering we both have had great Mexican food in many cities around the country. Also, we asked for extra guacamole and they didn't charge us for it. And the final price was more than reasonable. An excellent time and we'll be back.

Even with high expectations I was not disappointed. Started with the coldest, freshest Dos Equis from the tap I have ever been served. The waitress recommended the shrimp tacos which proved to be great plus the beans, rice and salsa bar all tasted fresh. Due to rain/hail today I was the only one in the building so service was immediate. This place is worth going out of your way for a great meal or very cold beer.

My new favorite Mexican Restaurant! Everything I have tried is AMAZING! They have a salsa bar where you can try and pick your own salsa to go along with their delicious homemade chips while you wait for your entree! Their tacos, burritos, fajitas and enchiladas are so full of flavor! They have amazing queso! I could go on and on. The atmosphere is awesome. My husband and I have been on the bar side and another night we took the kids and went on the restaurant side. Both great experience and great food.

This was an amazing place to eat. The man who took our order was friendly and knowledgeable. After ordering he infromed us of the salsa bar. The salsa bar is described as "vast", and i absolutely agree. They noticed we were enjoying the salsa and put some extra chips in the bag for us. The chips were free but the gesture was very nice.

We stopped here before taking the kids on the Polar Express train. This restaurant has new owners. Fortunately our favorite salsa bar stayed the same and the food was also still good. My favorite salsa is the Mango salsa, but there are also a handful of salsas that come in a close second for me. The staff was helpful seating our party of 17. We will be back soon.
