If you want or like me demand the best in care and concern for your fur babies, then Colonial Animal Hospital is the practice for you.
The Colonial team (Both Locations) is comprised of smart, caring, passionate professionals who make the well being of your animal priority one.
I have experienced nothing but the best care for my animals (9) in all since 1998. Dr Rob Martin is nothing short of amazing and he continues to train his entire staff to follow suit. Dr. Martin is compassionate and will help you in good things as well as the difficult times.
Thank you team Colonial and Dr. Martin!

I have had many pets and vets but Dr. Martin is literally the best veterinarian I have ever had. His level of care, compassion, bedside manner and intelligence is unmatched. He always remembers my pup and always takes the time with me to talk through what’s going on no matter how busy he is. He also follows up and checks in to make sure everything goes well after. I truly recommend him for anyone even with pets especially with special concerns and a tough diagnosis. I am sad and so is my pup to move away and lose him as my vet.

This is one of the few vets that the nursing staff and front house staff is just as kind and helpful as the vets as well and I will miss this clinic. Thank you for all the support with my pup and dealing with the recent diagnosis. I can’t thank yall enough!

Colonial Vet is a top notch veterinary office with the best vets and staff. With their two locations they provide the best care that is thorough, compassionate, and affordable. I very much trust the two vets in the office. Dr Rob has many years as a vet which shows in his expertise as he provides care for our three dogs. Ilene at the front desk is absolutely wonderful and always goes out of her way to assist in any way she can. We have been taking our dogs to Dr Rob for the past nine years and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a vet.

Every experience here has been nothing less than wonderful. The staff is attentive and kind, and you can tell they love what they do and love animals. I can’t recommend this location enough, especially if you’re looking for a new vet or have just moved to the area. Thank you, colonial for always taking great care of Rika!

Dr. Martin has saved my dog’s life several times. First time when my 13 year old schitzu got so sick that he could not move, we took him to Colonial animal hospital. Dr Martin made space in his busy schedule to examine my dog and immediately he was taken into to their amazing care. He was treated for several days there and recovered. He also saved my dog when he got aggressive rare cancer in his front leg. After he removed the tumor few times and it always quicky grew back, he adviced to amputate the front leg. I was scrared but he did amazing job again and my dog is living his best life now. He truly cares about us dog parents and the dogs and always finds innovative, lower cost solutions that bring great results. Thank you!

I’ve taken my animals to Colonial since before it was Colonial. The location has caring staff and Dr. Martin is a great veterinarian. He is a mentor for his staff and a wonderful doctor. The office staff are friendly and receptive. The nurses are experienced and trustworthy. I have a dog who is very hard to handle but Judith can manage him easily. The groomer Nicole is top notch. The office is clean. This office used to be owned by Dr. Burton, a truly caring and compassionate man. When the new owners came they took over the care of my animals and have been there for us in spite of some of our pets being “special needs”. I would recommend this office to anyone. I have never been without a dog in my life and Colonial understands how important my pets are too me. I am grateful for all of the folks at Colonial!

The worst fear is your pet needing care when you are away from home yet the staff made me feel so relaxed. 2 of my dogs got sick and this practice was OUTSTANDING! 2 visits, 2 different days, 2 different Vets. They were so competent and compassionate. I found their charges very reasonable and seem to be less than what I pay at my regular vet. If you need a Vet, pick this practice. I know I would if I lived here.

Hands down the most caring practice in the area. The staff is always friendly, attentive and caring with not just our pets but with us as well. If ever there is a need for a procedure, the details are fully explained as well as the costs beforehand. We love Colonial - both Gateway and Woolbright locations.

I've never written a google review before but after reading some of these I felt like I had to...

I brought my GSD/Husky mix in after she got bit by another dog at daycare which left her with a deep gash in her side. When I walked in we were promptly greeted and immediately taken into an exam room. The vet was in within minutes and upon seeing the wound immediately said she would require stitches which they would try to do without putting her to sleep as that is both costly and can be dangerous. So they took her in the back, cleaned her wound and put in 5 staples. She was back in the exam room within 10 minutes and happy as a clam! The vet then came in to let me know he was having a nurse draw up a bill so I could review it and then decide if I would like to proceed with the recommended additional treatment. I agreed and the antibiotic shots were administered right in front of me in the exam room. The check out process was a breeze and the lovely receptionists could not give my dog enough love while I was checking out (which she loved tremendously). I walked out very satisfied and with zero complaints. They even called me the following day just to see how my beautiful girl was doing!

We had a follow up appointment within the next few days just so they could check the wound and ensure there were no signs of infection. Once again we were promptly greeted by their friendly staff and taken into an exam room. It was a quick visit and free of charge which I honestly was shocked by.

Following this experience, I have decided to make Colonial Gateway Veterinary my dogs primary care facility! They truly care about the wellbeing of my dog over everything else. They were also very forthcoming with expenses and doing their best to minimize those expenses in any way possible which as a 20-something young professional I couldn't have appreciated more!

Loved our experience! Everyone is extremely friendly and professional. They followed up several times to make sure our pup was doing well, called right away with any updates/results, and when we needed paperwork for our Pet insurance they were able to provide it all within a few minutes. I couldn't be happier with our experience.

I took my dog jada here as she was very sick for the first time. When we walked in we were greeted with a friendly smile and a cheery voice. Dr. Pierce and Karen were unbelievable! They're care for jada exceeded any expectation I had by far! I am beyond grateful for the amazing staff that took care of jada and I highly recommend this place for everyone with a pet!

Words cannot describe how happy I am with this place. Dr. Martin is the best vet I have ever known and in the past he not only saved the life of my little dog Judy when she was run over but since then has taken care of my rescue Barley and done fabulous work on surgery to remove lumps He is a nice guy, very humble and extremely patient and extremely good at all he does-I am customer, I am not an employee and my review is a totally unbiased review -this is from the heart

I took my cat Willow here because it was close to home and the vet I was using just didn't seem to genuinely care. I read some of the negative reviews here but my intuition was to go here. I met Dr. Vego and I asked her about some of the negative reviews. She told me that she's seen them and is disappointed that they are there. She said that it's true that there were some vets working at this location before she got here and they were upsetting people. Those people have moved on some time ago. I can tell you that my intuition was correct. Dr. Vego is one of the most caring vets I've worked with. I could feel that she had a genuine concern for Willow, me and my budget. She gave me lots of ideas and presented the alternatives and I was able to get Willow the care he needed and stay with reason financially. If you want a vet that cares about you and your pet, and will not try to sell you on a bunch services, foods etc. this is the person. She was truly genuine and wonderful.

We've been using Dr. Rob Martin as our veterinarian for a few years now at Colonial Animal Hospital and have been very happy. Dr. Martin recently opened this beautiful second facility in which the provide grooming and pet boarding services in addition to veterinary services. After meeting with John Grumbar, the groomer, I brought my Wheaten Terrier in for grooming and I am more than satisfied with the results, they did a tremendous job! Murphy has never looked so good. Thank you, John!

Half these reviews clearly are by ex-employees. Dr Martin is extremely honest & humble. I live in Hobe Sound & commute to Boynton just due to the extra care I feel I get. Or the fact I get “care” at all. Smiles go a long way when you’re dealing with a member of the family. From my gorgeous/perfect Pomeranian :), to my cute little Yorkie & my independent Sheltie all are treated with immense love & care. I never met a vet that I could honestly look at and say, right now it’s just too much is their any other option- all I heard is what kind of money were you thinking-my bill was discounted purely off of my comment to what I could do. Loyal customer for life.

My looney cats were so stressed. Instead of forcing them to get treated and freak out because the cats were so mean. The ladies were compassionate, and gave me a sedative for the cats so they could come back and try again another time under sedation. Many would have treated me like I was a bad mom with rotten cats.
Very nice people

I've read these reviews and by far they are wrong about Dr Martin and the staff. See my fur baby was recently diagnosed with CANCER of his jaw, just like humans do. When the results came in, the newest member of the team there Dr Paul , had to make that dreadful call to me. I can't Express my gratitude fir everyone there at the office. ABSOLUTELY GREAT..... also Dr Martin referred me to the oncologist in Broward ( Dr Moore). Who by far is outstanding. Between both places my fur baby is doing awesome. And would and refer them to everyone

Dr. Rob Martin and his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital are kind, caring and considerate. Rather than trying to prolong the inevitable - while racking up a veterinarian bill - they finally talked some sense into me that it was "okay to let your cat go - you've done all you can do."

My family recently said goodbye to Myrtle. After 14 good years, she joins her sisters Lily and Maxi across the Rainbow Bridge. Colonial Animal Hospital offered many options regarding Myrtle and after choosing one, they left me alone in the treatment room to say goodbye.

A vet tech returned explaining that she was going to take Myrtle to another room and prep her. Moments later, Myrtle returned with a catheter inserted into the vein of her leg. Dr. Martin explained that before euthanasia is performed, a port is inserted to make it easy and stress-free to administer the injection. I'm not a doctor, but think I've explained this correctly. Basically, the older animals are harder to treat and installing the port helps with the process.

I remember finding Myrtle living out of a trash Dumpster at the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce in 2003. I caught her, fed her, and brought her home. My wife complained as we already had two cats. We now had 3 cats - but no children. Back when the economy was good, she went to the vet on a regular basis - not so much so when the economy was bad and we couldn't afford it.

My original thought was to have her fixed and remain an outdoor cat. That never worked out.
Many years later, Lily and Maxi moved on and two new kittens joined the Lewis household. After they crossed the Rainbow Bridge, my 7-year-old twins Rebecca and William adopted Ash and Frost a few months ago. My kids love cats.

My daughter Rebecca loved Myrtle the most, but it became a quality of life issue. A quality of life issue that Dr. Martin continued to suggest "the end is here." I finally took his advice.

Sometimes you just have to ask yourself - "where would Myrtle be today if I hadn't rescued her from a trash Dumpster?" According to Dr. Martin, she never would have made it out of the Dumpster.

I've never had a negative experience with Dr. Martin or his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital. Polite and friendly - they explain every procedure. From making the appointment, explaining any procedure or test, to the fees being assessed, I was fully informed every step of the way. As a small local practice, I was impressed and never had an unanswered question.
