Newport Police Department

I was traveling to Newport Kentucky yesterday and accidentally turned the wrong way in a roundabout. An officer was kind enough to help me get my car turned around and then led me to the location I was looking for which was more than five blocks away. Thank you so much!

I have lived in the City of Newport for four years ( originally from Bellevue). Officers have always been 1st class and polite.

Thank you to the dispatcher and officer whom seen to it that my elderly family member received food very quickly. On March 18, 2020.

Everyone is nice and helpful.

I just felt extremely disrespected by an officer when I was involved in an accident the other day. He was kind to the older woman but whenever I tried to talk to him he seemed agitated. He wasn’t about to ask me for a statement either, I had to speak up to tell him about it which I didn’t find respectful in the slightest. As someone who has never been in an accident before, I would hope they would be a little more understanding with me and my questions since I’m young and have never been involved in anything like this my whole life. I just feel like I could have been treated better by this officer, especially in a stressful situation like this.

The people who greet you at the door and run this building ( including the officers) are overly rude and disrespectful. They are not helpful AT ALL and they WILL try to escalate what should be a respectful dialogue between citizen and public servant. Take great caution before interacting with these people (especially minorities). Fair warning 😳

The worst police department ever. I have had to call on multiple occasions one of them was when a child pedophile stopped at my house and they didn't do ANYTHING. They didn't even show up. The second time was today when I was sitting outside and saw a lady walking her dogs down the street and all of a sudden two other dogs attacked them. I called and again no one even showed up. The only time they come is when they get a drug call apparently. If you live in newport & have a problem don't count on this police department to be of any help.

The other night me and a few of my friends went to Newport to have a few drinks and have a good time. My girlfriend had a bit too much to drink and falling and cutting her face on the ground. We cleaned her up but the cut needed stitches so we waited for our ride to come and take us to the hospital. In that time 3 Newport police officers came up to us. Instead of taking a look and my injured girlfriend and applying basic first aid they began to question her to see if I hit her or not. Not a single one of them said anything to me or asked me what happened. I also later found out that they tried to get my friends to say that I hit her, even saying that "someone saw them do it". This never happened and even when the security guard who had the whole thing on camera came down to talk to us they still pressured my girlfriend and friends into saying I hit her DESPITE THERE BEING CLEAR VIDEO EVIDENCE THAT I DID NOT. Those officers acted like punks with guns and in no way tried to protect and serve the people of Newport.
