It’s a cafe and breakfast place in downtown. We stopped by for a coffee . Coffee was good and options for coffee were good in number. Decor of this cafe was good with different type of tea and coffee pot around and poster. While traveling if one want to stop by for a coffee it is a good place.

This is the chill, local coffee shop I was hoping to find here!
I’m just stopping through on my road trip, and wanted to see some local flare. It seems like the main spot for working on a writing project or meeting up with friends. Hell, I’m just enjoying sitting by the window relaxing and watching the cars go by. Love the vibe.

Wow this is a wonderful place for locals and tourists alike! The staff is very accommodating and really know their stuff about coffee! Good selection of snacks too, and the vibe inside can’t be beat. Check out the table made from an old loud speaker, it’s super cool. I love the vibe here and I will likely be back again soon! If you haven’t been to Tamp & Grind yet, what are you waiting for?

Tamp is a regular stop anytime we are in downtown Alexandria. It’s a little slice of modern Bohemia, and a bulwark of antixenophobia in an otherwise landlocked culture. The walls celebrate artistry and artisanship, and the menu items do not disappoint. In addition to coffees and teas of all kinds, their snack items are good quality, and they make an excellent hot chocolate here. I only wish it were larger - and that there were more places like it here.

Though I’m over 60, I love to go to local coffee shops when I’m on the road. Stopping in at Tamp & Grind was a real treat. I loved the many nooks and unique spaces, but it was the baristas that gave it a five! I explained what I was hoping to have.. a frappe with “depth”. They asked a few questions and then made a drink that hit a home run. Way to go!!

The absolute best coffee shop in the world. They are the kindest people I’ve met and they always have a smile on their face. I’ve been grinding for years and I can honestly say that they will always have my business. If you are in the Alexandria Louisiana area and want coffee there’s no better place to go than Tamp and Grind.

Back in the day this was my coffee ☕ shop before Starbucks was even a name to us. It use to be named "the house of java" back then, now it goes by "tamp and grind" and they moved into the section next to them making it double the size it use to be. Loved it back then, love it now. If I ever come back to my old Stomping Grounds again. I'll always make sure to stop by and grab me a white mocha. My fav back then, my fav now.

This is a must go every time I'm in Alexandria. The coffee is phenomenal - hot or cold, they are tremendous. Have been drinking lots of cold brew lately, and their's is really the best I've had in Louisiana. The food is fresh and delicious and the muffins are huge!

A block from The Hotel Bentley downtown Alexandria. We were staying at the historical hotel and really wanted coffee. Tamp & Grind is the closest coffee shop--only a 2-minute walk! First impressions: This is the coffee shop I always wanted to own. It's an artist's dream! So much creativity from the local art pieces on display to the imaginative ways the tables are created (one is an amp with a glass top). Great atmosphere. You know this is a place you want to be.

The menu is fabulous. My husband ordered a bourbon caramel latte, and I had a lavender latte, both with heavy cream. The coffee was delicious. Rich, robust. You didn't feel like you were missing something. The flavor and depth were all there.

And great service. Sweet people, coffee came up fast.

We hung out in the coffee shop for a good bit just enjoying the vibe and talking. There were people of all ages and walks of life there doing the same. Hard to beat!

We got here a bit late because they were out of quite a few things on the menu. No peanut butter, eggs, or bread. So we were unable to try the avocado toast and the cereal killer parfait. We did get to try the banana bread, ham pepper and cheese frittata, breakfast oats, mini waffles, and a white chocolate mocha. The food was delicious! Most of the food was gone before I could take a photo. The mocha was wonderful! I did feel a little unwelcome when I first came in though. I felt as though I was bothering the woman at the register. She did come through for me though when we ordered another item to find they were also out of yogurt so we got the oatmeal instead. All in all we may come back. Also, the decor is so aesthetic, definitely a good place to study, read, work, or just chill.

Eclectic and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of historic downtown Alexandria.

Staff was friendly, attentive to details, and patient for each customer, even during busy times.

Excellent place to study and focus, but also a fine place for a date. I especially appreciate their board game collection, available to all visiting in person.

Stumbled upon this place while exploring some old buildings in downtown Alexandria. Place has great energy and vibe, and the best latte I have had in quite some time.

There are nostalgic remnants of the past sprinkled throughout the place, like a school desk from the ‘50s, and some other odds and ends. The view from the large windows invites in a lot of light, and highlights some of the older buildings nearby, one of which is covered with graffiti and street art, which I appreciate.

So glad I found this place and will continue to enjoy it while I’m down here for a few months.

So I’m 20 and never ever drink coffee because I wasn’t a huge fan of it growing up, and I would 100% have to say this place completely changed my opinion and mind, this place serves the absolute best I’ve ever tried, the staff was really sweet and all working hard even though they were packed today during a big event but that still didn’t keep them from getting it out quickly and efficiently, recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t tried them, it’s kept very clean and taken care of and I hope your visit will put a smile on your face as much as it did mine when you take your first drink, absolutely positively delicious and heart warming like each cup is made with love

I grew up in the PNW and I miss having a hip coffee shop to hang out in. This place reminds me of home. They make a fantastic lavender oat milk latte.

This place has become an every day part of my routine. The service, coffee, food, and all together great atmosphere have made Tamp and Grind my most visited place other than my work and home. All of the baristas have such a warm and inviting attitude that I appreciate more every day. I highly recommend taking a gander into this local business and trying an Irish Creme Breve! 10/10 will always recommend. Thank you tamp staff for my home away from home

It's rare that I get the chance to have a drink from Tamp&Grind. But I never regret coming here. This coffee shop is a part of Alexandria's heritage, in my opinion. Great vibe, and always love the smell when I walk through the door.

I’m not from Alexandria but I googled coffee shops and stopped there while passing through. Their ready brew (drank black) was very good. They offer it in mugs if you drink it there, which is important to me. Atmosphere was great, located in the heart of downtown Alexandria, you really get a feel for the art and history of the city. There was a mix of students, professionals, casuals, and maybe some writers in there. Staff was really friendly and knowledgeable. They let me taste test the coffee, and I never complain about free coffee. I will definitely stop there again while passing through.
