It has come to my attention that you have a goal to close many smaller branch locations around the county, as well as centralize services in an effort to save money. As a St. Charles citizen for more than the past 25 years, this is insulting to hear. In a city where we have worked to build it bigger and better and in turn pay more and more taxes each and every year, I would expect my public services such as a library to only expand, not get smaller. Our city is growing out in every direction. We built the smaller far reaching branches to be there for those on the outskirts but also then be there when the developments make it to them. It is nothing less than a fairly on YOUR part that you are considering this horrible change. I’ve read into all the ways you have personally mismanaged our money through terrible decisions you’ve made and it is insulting to find that you would take that out and on us citizens. Instead of bolstering your own wages to go up each year, you should focus on how to maintain keeping the lights on at all the branches we have had running well before you got here to mess it up. As an IT professional myself, I find it distressing to see you have had no technology director and have been actively NOT trying to fill the position. It is organizations like yours that malicious actors target and soon you are going to find yourself in a much worse money place when someone hacks into your poorly managed system. I wish for you to step down/ resign as an act of good faith to our community. If you have failed, own it, ask for forgiveness and move on. Please take this seriously, the entire community counts on it.
