Stone mountain and Hutchinson are gorgeous. The hike from the trailhead is relatively easy and follows a creek on the way up. Round trip is maybe 1.5 miles and mild elevation gain. We walked the road back where the handicap parking is. If you're looking for the easy, quick route, walk the road in and out.

Lots of parking for individual cars, RV’s, and buses. There is a restroom, a pay phone (disconnected, no service for cellular) and trailhead information. I would park and hike the lower part (which is this), leave the easy part for last. Go left once you reach the junction (to hike all the way to the top) or right (to reach the Homestead).

We go a few time a year. Views are breathtaking, even after going for over 30 years. Always a great hike whichever you chose. We love a hike over the top of the mountain and picnic on top, looking down at the birds 🦅 below you is a fun experience. We went over the top with a 9 and 12 year old and it went well.

This place is a great hike! There's plenty to see and explore, lots of wildlife, and friendly people. The full loop is a pretty challenging hike, but is definitely doable. Had an absolute blast here!

Simply Amazing - When you get up top of the Granite, the views are just mind blowing...
Dress accordingly - the weather can be deceiving from the base to the summit. Sun or no Sun!!!

Most of the trails can be handled by most - you should carry water of course. But plan to get a little dirty, the trails can get soft in places.

A fantastic trail that goes along the bottom of Stone Mountain before looping up the slope. Contains numerous overlooks on the mountain, a beautiful waterfall halfway along the trail, and a preserved historic homestead that you can drive to if you don't want to walk. The climb is a little difficult, but if you take your time anyone can do it!

Super place to relax. Take a long or short hike, fish, swim or grill yourself a hotdog. It's a must see in our great state of North Carolina.

Beautiful place for a family hike. The stairs on the loop trail will definitely make my butt less saggy. We had a great time!
