We took our kids for their first camping trip. Of the 4 primitive tent sites, only one is level. We didn't get that one. =/ Fortunately, the staff is super kind and accommodating and allowed us to move our tent to an open field nearby for our second night. The location is beautiful and accessible to I-40 and the bathrooms and camp store were clean and well-stocked.

Douglas Headwater is one of our favorite places to camp. Lucky for us it's only about 4 hours from home. We never get tired of that view of the lake with mountains beyond at a distance. We enjoyed meeting April and Chuck, new hosts and hopefully managers in 2024. They seem to be hard workers, very friendly, accommodating and took care of our needs in a timely manner. Our only request would be that all the bathrooms are heated, hot water faucets function properly and overhead lights working in the shower area.

We stayed in a tent on site 34 for 2 nights. We absolutely loved it. The camp hosts were very nice and accommodating. When our tent got swamped out by a passing thunderstorm while we were in town, they helped us to dry out our sleeping bags, etc. Our view was absolutely amazing. We didn't catch any fish, but enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding right from our campsite. The bathrooms weren't too bad. The one near the beach was worse on the evening, as it had more public use. I highly recommend this campground. Kuddos to the camp hosts! They were amazing!!

Great place to camp away from all the traffic and noise. You can get to all the attractions and still be able to enjoy a view of Douglas lake. Electric and water only with gravel pads. Enjoyed our stay!

Very clean, well run campground on Lake Douglas. Very quiet at night. Water and electric hookups, and a good dump station. Convenient to Smokey Mnt NP. It allowed me to take the “back roads” to miss most of the crazy congestion going thru Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Same with going to Dollywood. There’s a nice conv store/gas station just down the road.

We are 1 night in to a 3 night stay, and I wish we could stay here longer. We are on Site 3 and it is huge and shaded with a beautiful view of the lake down the hill.

Went out on the lake on our ISUPs and loved it. Lake is low, but that seems to be happening all around the country.

I don't remember how we found this place, but it is one we won't forget and will absolutely come back.

My family and I have been here a couple weeks, besides the beautiful views, which were always kept very nice and neat, bathrooms always clean, we were welcomed here by some really outstanding hosts , have to give special shoutouts to ( David and Tara) who welcomed us first they were very kind and friendly, they made you feel like this place was family (Chuck and April) who made sure our stay here was accommodating, relaxing, and if we needed anything at all we knew where to go, also need to give a shoutout to ( Gary ) Bella’s daddy ❤🐾 who didn’t mind sharing his fire wood.
We have stayed many places , but this place is definitely the favorite so far ❤❤
Thank you so much

The best camp staff we have had. They were very personable and spent time checking on everyone after a storm. The sites were great, the lake perfect for kayaking, swimming and playing with our dog in the water. Bath houses were clean, sites were clean, and the staff, did I mention how great they were?

We absolutely LOVED this campground! We tent camped at site 35 and it was perfect! It had easy access to the water and pretty views of the lake. This site didn’t have a ton of shade but it was fine. I agree with the other reviews that the staff is great and the little camp store had lots of things for sale from floats to propane to soft serve ice cream (see photos). We rented a kayak from the office—their prices are better than the nearby marina!! The bath houses are older but adequate. The nicest bath house is the one at the entrance by the office. We will 100% be back to visit here and we will bring our boat next time. There is plenty of parking for boat trailers here!!!
LOVED LOVED LOVED!!

We stayed two nights in site #22. We were originally assigned site #34, but our camper wouldn't fit there. Even though it was after hours the camp host helped us make the change. The cg is spotless and the bathhouses were clean. The view of the lake is beautiful. It’s a relatively short ride into Pigeon Forge. You can have the peace and quiet of an idyllic setting while still close to all of the attractions.

It was nice we loved it there. Everyone was nice and welcoming. There was two beaches to swim at, the bath houses were nice, and they have free washer and dryer’s for anyone who may need them.

Very clean, well maintained campground. We enjoyed the wide grassy spaces and big shade tree at our site 46. Site 46 is waterfront, but trees block the view, which was actually good because it’s view was really of the very busy boat ramp. A short walk down to the rocky beach with our dog was very enjoyable. We kayaked from there, but it was very windy and a little too challenging, so we went out only once. There was also a lot of boat traffic, it seems there was a fishing tournament. We noticed some spots seemed much closer together on the other loop. The staff was very cheery and helpful. There are many restaurants and shopping nearby, and we did have cell signal. We will return here again.

I have stayed at Douglas Tailwaters several times and thought it was a great value for the cost. But that campsite is in a valley and has issues with Cell coverage and sunlight. Douglas Headwaters is an even better value because it is the same price without any of the above issues. Douglas Headwaters is clean, quiet, well maintained, and has easy access to the Douglas Lake all for a very reasonable price. It is about an hour drive to the Smokies or Gatlinburg. But for the price, that drive is well worth it, in my opinion. I'm defiantly going to stay hear again!

For those who rely heavily on campground reviews to determine the best campgrounds, here is our review on Douglas Headwater Campground in Sevierville, Tennessee. We stayed here for 2 weeks. It is thumbs up all the way!! We had an excellent stay! This campground makes for a perfect central location to explore the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Blue Ridge Parkway, and surrounding areas during the day and then return at night to enjoy the evening of fishing, kayaking, swimming, grilling, and/or a campfire.

This park has the best park hosts. A huge thank you to Taara & David Treadway and April & Chuck Holcombe! Thank ya'll for the kind hospitality! They were so helpful and very informative. They are all excellent at their jobs! They made sure campers were doing well and made themselves visible throughout the day. They work very hard daily, keeping up with the campground, streets, and area with picnic tables. Everything was well kept and looked great! The facilities for campers were always clean and stocked. Kudos to these park hosts! This park is very lucky to have such personable people representing them!

Our campsite was #32. We had a view of the water and the picnic area. We loved watching the ducks, birds, and playful squirrels. All RV camp sites have only electric and water hookups, with the exception of the host sites. If you want to avoid going to the dump station during your stay, the campground provides a service called Honey Wagon (Waste Disposal). For a fee, they will come to your site and empty your septic tank. That's a definite plus!

Thank you for making our stay a memorable experience! We will definitely return again!
