Dixie Chicken

This was my first time in this College Station institution. What a neat place!? The atmosphere was so cool - tons of fun things to look at. The food was so good - especially the chicken fried steak sandwich. The chicken fried steak’s breading stayed nice and crispy while the steak inside was tender and delicious. So glad I went while I was in town and would love to go back someday!

I got the three piece chicken basket and the TX Toothpicks. The food is fantastic, I couldn't finish it. I LOVED the TX Toothpicks, batter fried jalapeño and onion strips. YUM

This is the place to go! Very busy place on game weekend! We stood in line to get in & had a wonderful time! Have to admit I felt bad for the old snake in the small cage. The music was so loud he had to feel the vibrations for hours.

This College Station fixture is a must-visit for visitors and a regular stop for locals. Be sure to take a Sharpie or something to carve your name in the tables. The food is as good as you’d expect from a dive bar like this. Haven’t had anything I wouldn’t try again. Burgers, fries, tater tots… Enjoy!!

Flew up for A&M vs Alabama, and this place was packed. Waited until the game started and went back for food. Loved the burgers and onion rings. College Station has a great vibe, I see why this place is recommended.

An authentic embodiment of what it means to be on the Texas A&M campus in College Station, Texas! Took us back 3 decades to our college days…what a treat!! The ambiance of this restaurant is spectacularly Texan!! We had the 12th man lager, 2 cheeseburgers and Tijuana fries….100% delicious!

Drop in for a Freddy burger and rings at the College Station standard for all greasy spoons and dive bars to strive for. Carved up tables and walls add to the battle tested ambiance. Service was polite and quick, prices were fair and it was a perfect day to enjoy it all on the patio. The inside has plenty of tables and games with a massive old bar. The area around the Dixie Chicken is all getting cleaned up and renovated but I hope they don’t touch the chicken...some things are better left alone.

Really good local joint for burgers and fries. The prices are reasonable. Six dollars for a cheeseburger. $2.50 for fries. We especially enjoy the fries. They were so crispy and flavorful. There are many local students hanging out here at lunch

I've been going here since 2007. The best thing is consistency. The chicken has been and will always be my go-to bar and grill any time I'm in College Station. Have a cold beer, awesome food, and a game of 42.

A Texas tradition and one of the very best cheeseburgers ever enjoyed. Eclectic environment, busy and packed spot. Full bar, cheap inexpensive menu yet so delicious! Cool T-shirts.

What a great place. We had the chicken sandwich and a burger. Food was fantastic and atmosphere was great. You order at the counter and then sit at some cool old picnic style tables that have been carved in for years. This is a can't miss in College Station.

Definitely a college bar with good food. I would go early, it gets wild and crazy towards the end of the day. Food is decent priced, get the cheese fries.

Students were out of town, the wife and I met an old friend. Enjoyed watching the aggies lose! The rattlesnake was cool, as usual. We told to get out at midnight, rather rudely, so we went next door

Fun Texas A&M tradition with good burgers. Despite the name don’t expect chicken dishes. As I recall they have two sized of chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich. Quintessential college bar with A LOT OF BEER CHOICES, pool tables and fun and interesting decor.

The chicken is an institution. Always a good time. Say howdy to the rattle snake

Having been away from College Station for years (20) I had no idea how much everything had changed. My old dorm, Crocker, has been torn down. All over campus there us construction. The town itself has grown exponentially, and many of my favorite places are gone (RIP Fitzwillys). No matter though, because the Dixie Chicken still remains, unchanged, frozen in time, a reminder of past glory for us old Ags. Gig em.

Omg this is such a fun place to have a drink, we visited this place in our mini trip to College Station and stopped by here for a beer. We enjoyed our time so much definitely we'll be back next time we're around

Very friendly staff and good service. The food was great and came out quick. Definitely get the Tijuana Tots if you can.

What can you really say about this Texas A&M/College Station landmark that hasn't already been said? Had a fun visit. Good food and excellent beer on tap.
