Mastrantos

I've only gotten to try their food at the Dining in The Dark Experience, but the food and environment is great. Savory or sweet dishes, atmospheric decorations, and a decent drink menu. I will have to come back to try their signature dishes, but this seems like a great place for a date or to meet up.

Food was delicious. The Tex-queño with cilantro sauce was delicious and left us wanting more. Mussels were very fresh, chorizo carbonara was an interesting twist and very tasty. We had a couple of Old Fashioned drinks that were very good too. We will definitely come back!

What's located in the Heights, is delicious, and super cozy? Well, that probably describes plenty of places, but I'm talking about the restaurant, Mastrantos!
We arrived pretty late, and although they looked quite busy, we were seated right away. The service was wonderful, the food was fantastic. The serving sizes looked a bit small, but I'm guessing that's because here in America we are used to eating double the size of a normal portion. It actually ended up being the perfect size. We both felt full, but without feeling like we had eaten too much, which, of course, meant there was room for dessert! It was a tough choice between chocolate ravioli and carrot cake, which sounded amazing. We ordered the chocolate ravioli, and again, the portion size looked small. However, we shared one dessert and it was plenty big enough for both of us.
This was a nice dining experience. I enjoyed the food, which was expertly prepared. The atmosphere was nice, it seemed to me like a "special occasion" restaurant, but would also be nice to visit every now and then "just because."

Everyone was happy!! This Italian based food incorporates flavors from other places. It was family friendly.
We ordered Plantain crocettes Classic beef bolognese with home made pasta

I did the dining in the dark experience and it was fabulous! I had the seafood meal and everything was delicious. The bar tenders Emily and Pablo were very friendly and helpful. All of the staff members were professional and courteous. The atmosphere of Mastrantos is quite pleasant, with Latin music playing and warm lighting throughout. The design and decor was modern with a calming ambiance. I'd love to go back for a regular dinner service!

Mastrantos is a must! We have become regulars because we love this place so much. The food is absolutely delicious with fresh and high quality ingredients, the menu is eclectic and international, the atmosphere is vibrant and trendy and the staff could not be nicer! Our server Jamila is the sweetest, she always remembers us and what we like and makes great recommendations!
From their new menu, we highly recommend the salt-roasted beet salad and the brussel sprouts!

A delightful dinner! The food was incredibly delicious. While the restaurant does offer meat dishes, we opted for all vegetarian items and we were beyond impressed. Everything was full of flavor, perfect textures and scrumptious. Our waitress explained different nuances about our dishes, how the pickled onions would combine with curry spice and unique deviations from typical ways the dishes are made. We loved her! We arrived early without a reservation but if you're going to go during peak hours, you might have a wait. If so, it's worth the wait! I'll definitely be recommending this place and can't wait to go baaaaaaack!

My wife and I had dinner at Mastrantos on the evening before Valentine's Day. We shared a green salad, and she had the Scarpinocc Pasta, and I had the Blackened Salmon. The food was exquisite, plated beautifully, and the service was perfect. We will be back soon to try other dishes.

I do not leave reviews the day I go to a place, but I had to get this one out while it's still fresh. The wife and I went to the blind dinner service through Fever. We were just trying something new on a regular thursday. This wasn't a regular thursday as we planned.
Made sure to order the red menu (meat) since I am a growing boy and blue (seafood) for the wife. Welcomed by the front staff and seated promply and drink orders were taken. Then, the request from the very talented Chef (sorry forgot name but young brother)to put on our blind folds to truly enjoy the experience. " FYI, I will not say what the meals were, but the experience yall need to go while they use this menu."
You get three courses, being a cook and able to figure a dish by taste and look the blind fold had me fooled and impressed to the 10th degree.
Red appetizer what chef did with something as simple as beans that could be put on a Michelin star restaurant menu is crazy! Will have to try again during a regular day to see plating. I know it was a masterpiece. Blue had my wife wanting to buy a ticket for a second blue appetizer just great. Entrees we both figured out the blue protein, but the red best "steak" we ever had. Steak is in quotations since it wasn't. We would have bet our lives it was... glad we didn't. The dessert was another play Chef put on your plate that will challenge and impress your taste buds.
Wish could put a 10 star, had great food here in Houston, and plenty of 5's on my reviews. Mastrantos blind dinner takes the cake.
We will definitely be back to taste their homemade pasta with lamb that Chef recommended.

My boyfriend and I came for the Valentine’s day 3 course set menu. We thought the food was delicious and the drinks were good. The service was slow but overall we will be returning to try the regular menu.

One of the best date night spots in the heights neighborhood. Globally inspired food which brings a different vibe than most other restaurants offer. The service was great, cocktails amazing, and the braised beef bourguignon was the best braised beef I’ve ever had. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a new date night spot.

Mastrano’s is such a wonderful restaurant! The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. The food is incredible, fantastic chefs!! Highly recommend for your next Italian food craving!!! Will be back soon!

Everything we had was excellent. Perfect portions for sharing. We got the beef tips, Bolognese pasta, and street corn. Fresh pasta is the best! We both had our own desserts which were delicious. Topped it off with a Vanilla latte. 👌

One of the best locally ones restaurants in the entire city limits of Houston. The food quality, service and ambiance are top notch! Fully recommend the chorizo and egg arepa and the cachapa. As well as the sangria the HUGE TEQUENOS ! Omg okay wait the DESSERT IS CRAZY GOOD

Delicious food, great service and very convenient location. The owners always been there, making sure you have great experience.
Everything is fresh, also you can see how they cook everything, and that is nice.
The pasta is delicious and the passion fruit croissant the best combination I’ve never had.

We had eaten here twice before over the last 3 years or so (we don’t live in Houston), but had not tried any of their house-made pastas. Oh, my! So good. My husband had the gnocchi with vegetables. I had goat cheese tortellini with lamb ragu. This was 5 days ago (our 37th wedding anniversary) and I’m still thinking about that meal. Our appetizers and smokey margarita and tiramisu were all delightful. We really need to drive into the city more often, if only to eat at Mastrantos.

The food is great. Plating is well done and the service is A1. It has a beautiful atmosphere. Brunch and Dinner services are a must to try here. Definitely will return again.

Came for dinner tonight and WOW! What a GREAT spot in Houston and even better for the Heights. We had the following - lamb tartare, pasolé, gnocchi, bolongese, carrots, Brussels and both desserts. Everything was truly spot on and delicious! Try it! They have lunch and brunch as well!

If I were to sum up our experience, simply put, it was perfectly curated!

The moment we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff; the place has an extremely warm and welcoming ambiance, which sets the tone for an excellent brunch or dinner.

The Ragú Bolognese had tons of flavor! The pasta is made in-house so it elevates this dish to a whole new level. The tostada on the brunch menu was packed with fresh ingredients including black beans, eggs, avocado, crema and salsa- lots of great flavors!

Overall this is a great restaurant and I could tell they really put attention to detail. I can’t wait to see what other dishes they bring to their already diverse menu.
