First time to Taste of Texas with my family. We loved the food. Best steak I have ever had and I love steak. This fine restaurant needs to be on top 50 restaurants in the nation! I want to personally thank Erin our server for giving us VIP service. The manager was walking around making sure all the guest were fully satisfied. All the food is amazing. Erin showed us around and made us feel very comfortable. I finally found my #1 Steak house. If you are looking to eat like a king and be treated like one, look no further. THANK YOU!!! Taste Of Texas. We are very glad we found our new home. We will be back soon…

My family has been coming here for 10+ years to celebrate my birthday. I turned 21 yesterday, and deciding to keep up this tradition was the best decision I could have made.
Taste of Texas ages just as well as their wines. It seems like over the years the service, food, and atmosphere keeps getting better. Our waitress, Laura E., was the spitting image of what exceptional waiting and customer service looks like. She made this milestone that much more unforgettable.
As always, we cannot wait to go back!

First time at this restaurant and I was blown away by the whole experience. Loved it. From Texas history to the Chopping Block in the back where you can pick out your steak. Salad Bar was 1st class.
Steak was melt in your mouth. Unbelievable.

Highly recommended.

Definitely enjoyed Taste of Texas. Our server was awesome and sheknew everything about the restaurant and menu. I had the 16 oz Ribeye Brussels sprouts and they have a salad bar and different breads to choose from. Expect to spend over $100 for a party of two with most options but was worth it. I also got the Stuffed Mushroom caps with crab cake filling.

This is my first time visiting Houston. I'm away on a business trip and taste of Texas was highly recommended. I'm so glad I'm here, the ambience, the professionalism of the staff, everything from top to bottom is pure excellence. I ordered a 16 ounce prime rib, it's honestly one of the best I've ever had. Definitely a must visit if you are in the Houston area.

When I requested that my husband take me to the most Texas restaurant in Houston, this is where we ended up. I was originally anticipating an amped up version Texas Roadhouse but Taste of Texas turned out to be even better than anticipated.

The steak - so many cuts to choose from and cooked to perfection! You can choose your own steak which was really fun. The meat was super juicy and tender. Our server suggested we get butter on the side so we can try all the flavors with our steak and we very much enjoyed that as well!

Salad bar is top notch, probably the best salad bar outside of a Brazilian steak house

The service was stellar, super attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Our beverages were always filled at the right time and each course was paced perfectly.

The decor was very on theme, genuine Texas artifacts adorn the walls and the whole space feels like an upscale country tavern.

Highly recommend for fellow meat eaters who enjoy classic steakhouses!

Taste of Texas is a local favorite. One - for their DELICIOUS steaks, and 2) for their super support for the local US Navy Families. The owners are just awesome people and spirits, and it is reflected in their restaurant, its staff, and its customer service. It is no wonder the lines are out the door. The steaks, the salad bar, the drinks - all top notch!

Six of us drove 5 hours from the Hill Country to attend the Adult Texas History Tour event recently led by co-owner Nina Hendee. We started off early on Saturday morning with a nice light breakfast at the Taste of Texas and then settled in with a fantastic 2 hour presentation by passionate Texas historian Nina. She brought our history alive with accounts from eye witnesses at the time of our fight for independence and then as an independent country and on to joining the union. At the conclusion of the presentation we ate in the Taste's large dining room and were served a delicious Certified Angus beef kabob with mash potatoes, green beans and concluded with a choice of deserts. All were terrific. The service was professional and always friendly. Our dining area was surrounded with Texas artifacts, as a matter of fact the restaurant is a Texas History museum! While we were eating, Nina came around and visited with all the tables. Warning: this event is always a sell out event so book months early! It is worth the trip! Oh, and the food is terrific! Nina is a wonderful hostess.

The menu at Taste of Texas features a wide variety of steaks, including prime ribeye, filet mignon, and New York strip. The salad bar at Taste of Texas is one of the most extensive in the city. It features a wide variety of fresh salads, vegetables, and fruits. There is also a pasta bar and a soup bar. The service at Taste of Texas is excellent. The server is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, he was a little bit busy.

Good experience! Definitely an expensive place to dine, as you should expect from a steakhouse.
The server was super nice to guide us through the menu, which quite frankly was a bit confusing for first comers. You get a complementary salad, bread, and a side if you order one of the entrées, otherwise you’d have to add it.
Definitely get the salad, which you can make yourself at the salad bar - the sauces are so yummy. The salad was one of my favourite parts!

We got the cowboy steak, a bone in 24oz rib-eye, and it was great! The server bring you to the fridge and let you choose the piece pre-sealed. Nice to choose it yourself so you can see the cut before. Supposedly they dry age all the steaks they serve, which you kinda can taste, the stronger beef flavour. Yet, it lacked a bit of juiciness in my opinion. I’m used to more juicy rib-eyes and I was expecting that from a place like this.

Overall good experience. I’d recommend taking a large stake to share because you’re not going to finish that alone, and perhaps add an extra salad or starter. Recommended!
We spent $60/pp.

The cheese bread alone at the salad bar is worth the trip. The steak was also cooked to perfection. Don't forget to try one of the complementary sauces to enhance the flavor of your steak. I ordered the New York strip for its reasonable price and generous size, and I enjoyed it very much.

Tip: I highly recommend making a reservation, especially for special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays, weeks in advance.

I have been here twice for dinner recently. I had a very enjoyable meal both times. The restaurant is very cozy. It is like I am having dinner in a log cabin. There are several dining sections with a bunch of tables in each area. One of the major differences at Taste of Texas compared to many of the current trendy steakhouses and restaurants is that there was no ANNOYING LOUD MUSIC! We were able to enjoy our meal and have a conversation without having to yell at each other. I have no idea why so many restaurants feel the need to blast music at a deafeningly loud volume. It DOES NOT add to the dining experience in any way. For this ONE reason, I would make Taste of Texas my go to steakhouse in Houston.

After placing our order, the waiter took us to the on site butcher shop to select the cut of steak we wanted. The first time here I had a 20 ounce Ribeye. It was cooked to my desired medium rare plus. Delicious! The second time I had the 14 ounce Bacon Wrapped Center Cut Filet topped with Herb Garlic Butter. The waiter suggested that I have the filet cooked medium rare. He said that since the steaks come out on a hot plate, the meat will continue to cook a bit to reach my desired medium rare plus temperature. It was a very good suggestion! The center cut filet was very tender. The bacon and herb garlic butter added to what was already a very good steak.

Included with every steak is an open salad bar where you can build your own salad. There is also a selection of warm bread to choose from. Also included with every steak is your choice of one side. I went with the baked potato with toppings of scallions, bacon, cheese, and butter. Potato was a decent size and was baked just the way a baked potato should be.

The service was very good both times I was here. I did not see any valets outside the restaurant but there is plenty of self parking. I highly recommend coming to Taste of Texas whenever you want a good steak in a laid back, calm, warm and cozy atmosphere. I know I will be back for sure.

Taste of Texas was a fantastic experience. The indoor and outdoor decor is beautiful with a combination of local Texas flora, and pieces of Texan history. This was the first time I made a trip for a friend's birthday; the staff was extremely professional and guided us through the process. They took us to the kitchen to see the actual cuts for ourselves and which ones we wanted based on a ratio of fat to lean meat. It is an experience for anyone who enjoys a good amount of steak. The desserts are fantastic. We recommend the creme brulee and the Snickers Cheesecake.

I’ve eaten here twice already and the experience has been amazing so far. The service was great and the food was the best. The salad bar is completely worth it and my favorite part of it is eating the fruit and the breads, which are delicious!

From my visits, I’ve eaten the chicken sandwich and for my recent visit, I ate the herb crusted chicken with veggies. It’s also worth it to get dessert and bring it home if you are unable to finish it. I’ve tried the strawberry cheesecake, I believe and the chocolate cake. Keep in mind that the desserts are humongous. I will definitely bring my family here if I can.

This place has high ratings for a reason!

Fantastic food, ambience and service from our server, Britanny, who was very helpful to us navigating the menu.

The steak by the ounce was well worth the money, properly marbled and fatty without being overly greasy. The whole steak was done to medium rare without the odd overly/under cooked spots. The salad bar is well stocked and the breads delicious.

Would have tried the desserts if only we weren't so stuffed by the end of the meal!

This restaurant is Amazing!! Tina our waitress was professional yet fun. The food was melt in your mouth DELICIOUS. The decor was eye drawing & educational.
Taste of Texas is now my new favorite restaurant in all of Houston area!!

My only issue was it was my first ever visit & I asked our waitress to pack ALL the left over for & when we got home we were missing many items that were on our plates that I didn't even try because I was so full, Very disappointing..

I don’t know if I will be able to put how good the food was into words. I have never had a steak this good. When we walked in it had a steakhouse vibe but a welcoming, comforting feel. I felt like I was at home eating a steak.

The service was top notch. Our waiter was very friendly, insightful and helpful. Since it was my first time he explained everything in full detail. Just on that alone I would visit again.

Let me start with the wonderful salad bar that had a plethora of topping options and the bread oh my goodness. So moist and soft.

I ordered a T-bone steak with a little fat on it. Nothing like a little fat to add flavor. I got the lump crab sauce on top along with the garlic butter and for my side I got the mashed potatoes. You know how when you normally go places you have to put a little salt and pepper on your food… wellllllllll not in this case. The mash potatoes melted in your mouth and needed nothing extra. The steak was moist and seasoned well, I didn’t even need steak sauce. Steak sauce would have taken away from it. I ordered me a nice little drink and since it was our anniversary they gave us free cheesecake. Everything was top notch.

Overall this is my favorite steak house unless there is better which I have not had…..
