Found this little restaurant online while on a work trip in Peoria, IL. They have amazing catfish, the breading is great and their sides are amazing. Had Mac N Cheese and Green Beans that were amazing. Highly recommend, staff was super friendly and prices were good. Amazing food and service, highly recommend visitng.

Great food and the best lemonade I have had this summer. I’m visiting the area for work and needed some good down home cooking. Thanks again. I will be back before I leave the area.

don't sleep on this spot! we loved the fried catfish (pillowy and flavorful) and the pork chops smothered in gravy (sooo tender and fatty). the rice is also well-seasoned. 👌

I had an amazing experience at the Honey Sugar Cafe! Sometimes it can be really hard finding soul food downtown or anywhere in Peoria IL. So if your looking for some I suggest stopping by the Twin Towers. The food was so good, I’m happy I stopped in.

One of the best cafes in Peoria hands down. This is exactly what I got catfish fillets with 4 sides … by the way I didn’t finish the plate I had left over One of the best !!

I'm from Los Angeles and I travel the United States as my job requires. I've had soul food from Mississippi, Alabama, Philly, etc. And I was blown away with the food here.

I had the BBQ chicken, I tried to pick it up but the bone slipped right out. Tender and seasoned perfect. Green beans w/bacon were definitely on point and the Mac & Cheese!! YUM!!!!!

I will going back a few more times before I go back to Los Angeles.. Thank you to the Chef (whos name starts with W, so sorry i forgot her name) it must be a lot of hard work to do what you do, but then again, MAGIC TAKES PRACTICE AND PATIENCE..

Honey's Cafe is AMAZING
I ordered the catfish, yams, and collard greens. Everything was seasoned to perfect and the service was great! Willette took care of me.

We drive to Peoria every few months for my pet’s vet appointments and usually spend the day touring the area while we wait. Today I found this hidden gem after googling for places nearby the Peoria museum. So glad we stopped here. The menu is small, but probably because there’s a lot of care put into the dishes. Everything was PERFECT. We got the bbq chicken, yams, Mac n cheese, and greens. Everything was cooked to perfection with the chicken falling off the bone!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! We will be back!

I over heard a conversation behind me at Walmart... And just for the record black businesses do not receive the correct or amount of attention it deserves. And most BLACK folks should know most meals soul food meals were started in the southern areas of the U.S.A. Pay attention to the soul of the food. It's called soul food for a reason... Very clean place, excellent food that's very delicious. I had the catfish, Mac &cheese, greens, and corn bread. Very tasty and well prepared. I recommend all come and support this upcoming business. Comfort Food at its best.

Was in Peoria for an appointment for my son and love trying new spots. We went to Honey Sugar and it was really good. The lady we spoke with was so kind. I called her like 2 times before we even arrived because I was trying to figure out where to go (not from peoria). When we got home and ate the food it was good! I got chicken and yams and my dad got meatloaf. We got a chicken for my mom. We all enjoyed our food and the sides. She even offered a snack for my son but he is gtube feed. I recommend to try her food out for yourself! Also she will be celebrating one year this weekend and has some customer appreciation going on!

Willette, the owner is such a beautiful soul. She's such a pillar in community and her personality is as good as the food. However, the storefront location is kind of weirdly lit and weird to get to, but it's still a vibe.

Came with no expectations and the food was amazing! I got the wings and i had a great time eating.
The service is best as well, the young lady that helped us is a wonderful human being. Great place to eat, will be coming back for sure.
