25 years going to Gils and we've never been disappointed. Always good food and service.
We both had the 1/2 chicken dinner, onion rings great as always

I'm from California and this was my first time eating at a place like this. Portions are huge and the service is so friendly that you almost feel like family when you're here. Pricing is reasonable. The fried chicken was AMAZING, as was the cobb salad. The pies also looked delicious, but I was too stuffed to order any. The fried catfish wasn't to my liking, but I suspect it's because it wasn't Basa catfish like my city-slicker self is used to, so I can't fault them there. I had a great experience here, and hope to be able to visit again someday.

We hadn't been to Gils for years as the food has horrid and the owner actually gave us a full refund then. We took a chance and went today. Server was very attentive and the chicken and catfish done to perfection. There isn't much atmosphere but when the food is good a clean restaurant is enough.
Prices are a bit high at 15.95 for 1/2 chicken with 2 sides but everyone has raised prices. At least here the quantity and quality aren't suffering.

This was my first time to patron Gills. We did a 21st birthday for my Neiece. All food was served Family style. Fried chicken was fresh chrisp, and the white meat was juicy. The spaghetti with meatball was very good. I had to give a little ding for using instant mashed potatoes, but they were still good. The Wait staff was amazing and very attentive. The dining room was clean and spacious. The restrooms were also clean. I will definitely return. Great job, Gills and Staff.

For over 50 years this place has been serving great comfort food and desserts. Fried chicken is one of their specialty menu items, ask for specials! Dine in or carry out. I recommend making a reservation as they are very busy on weekends. We have always had great service and great food.

Small town eatery with the BEST FRIED CHICKEN! No frills but solid food. Everything we had was tasty. Corn fritters were sooo good. It tasted like a zeppole but with a crust. Service was friendly, although for those used to city pace you need to adjust your expectations and enjoy the experience.

Had reservations since we were a larger group and got right in. The food and service were excellent as always. I do believe they have the best chicken in Central Illinois. The Alaskan Walleye was also very good. Highly recommend!

The best chicken hands down y’all! The food has such a good taste! Sometimes they’re super busy and I have received cold food from time to time, but I’m still giving 5 stars cause the chicken can’t be beat! Great comfortable family atmosphere.

The breaded porkchop is huge and delicious-not greasy at all and I just love the onion rings. The corn fritters are perfection

Always good food here. Highly recommend the prime rib and shrimp.

It was good. The staff ptovided excellent customer service. The food was great. The fried chickem wasn't as good as it was 4 years ago. The other food selections were excellent, especially the fresh fruit, the fritters, the stuffing, the ham, and the salad bar.

Took my mom to eat. Everything was perfect. Matthew was our server. He was great.

We waited about 20 minutes to get a table. We had a great waiter and the fried chicken was very good. Wanted to have dessert but we were stuffed. Maybe next time🙂🍰

Great food. I had the blue gill special, and my wife had the walleye and chicken special. We both loved it... The only bad thing about the night was I didn't have enough room for their amazing looking deserts

Food is good and you definitely get enough you will probably be taking some home

Gil started this place the year I was born, 1962. Earliest childhood memories were going to Gil's on Wednesday night. Back in the day before they expanded, we sometimes waited over an hour for a table, and was more than happy to do so. Gil's has been a family tradition ally life. Never had a bad meal ever. The only problem is that if you order onion rings and you like them done right, you have to ask the waitress to have them cook them a little longer. Found out they use a timer to cook them. A place that has never served me a bad piece of chicken will serve me undercooked onion rings, but when they cook them to my liking, they're awesome. If you never been to Gil's, go, especially on Wednesday night for chicken.

Always have excellent food, specials, and desserts! Their homemade ranch dressing is out of this world! Best chicken tenders I've ever had. 😋

Gil's is a top notch restaurant, there isn't anything more you could ask of this place.
If you'd like a family diner experience with the best fried chicken and walleye in the area step in. If you have a little noisier crowd or want cocktails before dinner or after the game check out the warehouse ( same owners, same awesome food and wait staff) rarely a wait time for a table and never a disappointing meal!
