The Bates museum is an underutilized gem. Although small, the museum has unusual and interesting displays. Easy access and a great place to spend a little time. Staff are very informative and friendly. Enjoy!!
You might enjoy some concerts they hold in the same building or view the recorded shows online.

Marsden Hartley bequeathed all of his work to the museum. Not a single piece is on display. Three week notice MIGHT get you into the archive.
The exhibit they had, portraits of celebrities and the famous relies entirely on QR codes. Not a label in sight.
Deeply disappointed. Save your gas.
