I went in to see Dr Mae's June 2020 to discuss the Urolift procedure. After talking with him, he scoped me out on the very same visit. This is to make sure that I qualify for the procedure. Yes, it was not a pleasant to go through. After putting up with 25 years merry-go-round of symptoms of BPH I was willing to put up with a little discomfort.
I was scheduled for the procedure July 6. I appreciated the no nonsense approach to getting things started. Dr Maes has a lot of energy and confidence. I like his assertive approach. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. I'm not gonna sugar coat it. It is very uncomfortable but doable.
The first 36 hours was pretty nasty. There was a blood in in the urine with clots. In hind sight I should of probably sat on the toilet. It can be pretty messy. I kept drinking water to flush everything out. There was a lot of burning but that was to be expected along with the overall soreness in that area. I never took any pain relievers. Every day got better. After about four days there was no blood in the urine. By day 12 no discomfort. The symptoms I had began disappearing too. No more racing to the bathroom. No more peeing four times an hour, and sleeping through the night!
Three weeks out and I am very pleased with the results.
Dr. Maes is a fine young doctor. I whole heartedly recommend him. If you're sitting on the fence on this, don't.

He is awesome. Had my lithotripsy this morning and the pain is minimal. Unlike other times when I was in excruciating pain right away.
