I had a wonderful breakfast experience at this little diner. Very friendly, energetic and attentive staff. I ordered 3 breakfast items which came out fast and tasted great! I highly recommend this place.

Such a fun place in town to stop and grab a bite to eat. It is always packed and I've had to wait for a tabel every time I've been in, but never for very long. Nice staff and yummy food!

The competition for Wisconsin’s best breakfast is heating up with Little Fat Gretchen’s as a real contender. A tasty breakfast served quickly by a friendly staff. Choose to be seated at a booth, traditional counter, or enjoy one of the retro tables. Nicely decorated with local art and plenty of available parking. I enjoyed the 2 farm-fresh eggs cooked to medium per my request, sourdough toast and hash browns. I chose to accent my dish with a side of sausage patties. For those with a sweet tooth, enjoy the home baked goods with your coffee. Daily specials include omelets, breakfast sandwiches, and French toast.

I can honestly tell you that I have been searching for a go to breakfast place for most of my life.

Two times in the last three weeks. My wife and I have made our way to Little Fat Gretchen's's in Waupaca Wisconsin just so I could have their biscuits and gravy.

When you walk into the joint, you are immediately reminded of an old school diner. Seats at the counter, as well as booths and tables and they are all full. When my wife and I went the first week, we got in quickly, because we were willing to sit at the counter. Truth be told, if it's only the two of us eating, I would probably almost always eat at the counter. There's just so much going on in this place, and from the counter, you can see the cooks in the kitchen, the waitresses as they scurry behind the counter, and a glance over your shoulder lets you see the rest of the patrons.

Another cool feature of Little Fat Gretchen's's is their case of fresh made bakery. The first weekend we decided to take home a couple pieces of double chocolate cake to celebrate my wife's birthday. They had some fantastic pies this past weekend, but I managed to talk myself out of it.

Back to our breakfast. My freshman year of college was spent in Troy Alabama, where I was introduced to that gastronomic breakfast known as biscuits and gravy. To say I have been disappointed by what is offered as biscuits and gravy in the north, would be putting it far too mildly .

Seeing that they had biscuits and gravy on the menu I set the bar extremely low but ordered anyway. Thank goodness I did.

Our server was incredibly friendly, checked on us often for coffee refills, and brought us our food in a timely manner.

When I looked at the biscuits, my hopes rose because rather than store-bought biscuits, reheated in a steamer microwave, these were homemade biscuits. Too often restaurants will skip putting sausage in the sausage gravy and instead serve you a pasty white concoction. Were they have overcompensated with pepper to make up for the lack of sausage.

Not so at Little Fat Gretchen's. The sausage gravy had sausage in it and just the right amount of pepper to make it interesting. The peace d'resistance of my breakfast that morning was a perfectly cooked over-easy egg. You would think that is not a difficult request, but it far too many restaurants an over easy egg comes back, medium or hard. That morning I was greeted by an egg that went pierced with a fork, sent a wonderful river of warm yoke over my biscuits and gravy.

I think the amount of moaning I did while eating my breakfast that morning might've made the waitresses uncomfortable. I'm guessing they wondered whether or not I had gas I was having a foodgasm. Trust me... It was a foodgasm.

So as to not embarrass my wife, I did not lick my plate clean. Instead, I scraped as much gravy from it as I could with my knife and fork. That's how much I loved that biscuits and gravy. It was the best I have had outside of Troy, Alabama .

So get your butt over to Little Fat Gretchen's and order the biscuits and gravy. If that's your thing, you won't be disappointed.

I highly suggest taking time to view all the art work while enjoying wonderful food! This place has an eclectic atmosphere with Formica tables with steel padded chairs and roomy booths. The art work is amazing and there’s the story of how this restaurant came together.
Our waitress Jenni was so friendly and took time to give us time to view the menu while being set up with coffee. The service was fast & delicious. Jenni kept tabs on how we were doing and other staff were refilling coffee as needed. Jenni & staff are very nice. Jenni has the best smile! Thank you Jenni for making our visit special & enjoyable.
This restaurant is a beautiful place to meet family as a go between Stevens Point & Appleton.
Breakfast of French toast with a side of eggs & sausage links. And what’s awesome is they offer real maple syrup!
When in Waupaca, check this place out!

Nice quant family restaurant, I had the Saturday Veggie omelette (it had Brussel sprouts and Asparagus too) that I added Jalapeños to. It was very good, and i especially liked the addition of the Asparagus and Brussel Sprouts in addition to all the “other” veggies. I also had their home made Rye toast, which was fantastic!! My wife had the Grilled Buffalo Chicken and we shared them. Her sandwich was also extremely tasty. The coffee was good and they stopped often to refresh my cup. If you are in or near Waupaca you need to stop in.

Love this place! The pies are homemade and fabulous. The crust is light and flakey! I ate my pie first so didn't think to grab pictures, but the food is equally fantastic.

Awesome little dinner with AMAZING food and atmosphere. I’ve never had anything but great food and service. The bakery case is always full of sweets and is so pretty to look at too. I normally order pancakes with fruit but today I went for the French toast and bacon which was a hearty thick cut style and oh so good! I always splurge for the up charge on real maple syrup. It’s worth it, and they totally should charge for it. Also in the pic is an omelet, fruit side, and coffee. If you go on a Saturday morning, swing by the farmers market kiddy corner from them!

If you are looking for a place that has the charm of the little mom and pop restaurant, Stop here. The decor is wonderful. There is a sweet story on the wall of the restaurant. Our food was delicious. My husband had his usual when we go out on an adventure. Ham, egg and cheese omlet which he said was delicious with homemade bread. I had the home made black bean veggie burger with fresh avocado, lettuce and tomato. We had cheese curds for an appetizer but ate them all before I could get a picture. Little Fat Gretchens is known for their desserts so we had Godiva Chocolate cheesecake and peach raspberry pie to go.

This unique Niche restaurant provided us great service and exquisite food. Everything was fresh and prepared to our liking. Food was good.
This restaurant is uniquely located near all the downtown shops and restaurants across the street from the farmers market and craft display areas in downtown Waupaca. Handicap access handicap parking
Our server was friendly polite and efficient in her use of time to provide us a meal that was hot and ready.
The owner was interested in how we enjoyed our experience and her and her daughter made us feel welcome. I highly recommend Little Fat Gretchen's restaurant.
They were all busy making sure the restaurant stayed covid-19 clean with a guest coming in. They kept us socially distant and our dining areas clean.
They also make homemade pies and cheesecakes that are decadent delicious flaky light crispy tender flavorful. Don't miss this little Hideaway it's quite the gem.

Splendid experience! Stopped in late on a snowy Saturday evening to an almost empty place. I think we’d drive an hour just to return - cozy interior, good tunes and very good food. Their sweet potato fries are what dreams are made of.

Truly a gem in the heart of waupaca. The atmosphere is very friendly with an artsy appeal, and the service is great. Very busy place on Saturday morning when I ate here but the workers all keep up with the fast pace and get you seated and served as fast as humanly possible with the high volume of guests. But the best part? The food! Home made breads and pies fill the place with such blissful aroma, how I ate all of my big plate of food, I will never know. They most have warlocks in the back cooking because the food is magical and filling!!! Yummy!!

If you’re looking for a classic cafe, you just found it. When i got here it was totally jammed with lovely locals. The decor is cozy-cool clean and comfortable. I was greeted warmly by the busy owner who found a booth for me quickly. This place has an authentic heart and soul. The food was great (i had a half order of biscuits and gravy).
Any review of this place that is less than 5 stars is written by an unhappy lunatic.

When you see a place that has an iconic “EAT” sign, you know it’s going to be good. Small town diner serving up excellent breakfast/lunch fare. I am a sucker for cheddar melts and this particular day it was a special being offered. Perfectly made, flavorful and should be on the menu as an everyday staple. The service here is top notch, other big town restaurants should send their staff here to watch and learn. Our server knew exactly when and what we needed without even asking. Waupaca has a hidden gem indeed, a must stop place if driving through town.
