On the one side, we have bottomfeeding slumlords profiting from our misfortune living in their shoddy, bug ridden, unmaintained “investment" properties, binding our livelihoods to their lease terms while they don’t pay their dues on those same terms. On the other side, there are realtors/landlords like Grueser Realty, who are the exact same ugly and dishonorable people inside wearing a disguise. It is a more hidden evil – and because it hides, it is even more reprehensible for the fact that it gets away largely undetected. If you are an average person like me, you exist sandwiched in between these two oppressive forces. I have bounced from one end of this scale to the other. Money changes its outward appearance but does nothing to the inside character.

I nearly fell victim to my own desperation, selectively deafening myself to condescending tonal ranges and convincing myself into the delusion that petty passive aggressions were somehow friendliness, if it should afford me to live in a “nice” house comfortably and peacefully. I can tell you, no apparent “niceness”  is worth selling your soul for and chaining your dignity to the entitlement complex of realtors and landlords who are on power trips. They know exactly what spot they fill, they know we need what they have, and they know they don’t have to do anything as human beings to deserve it, while you have to live your life wearing oven mitts to not burn your hands on their inflamed egos. They buy up and monopolize the beautiful places on our earth and repackage them into their false paradises where you have to play by their rules, and for that, they have slowly but surely made our planet a worse and worse place to live. We need to do better as a society and stop living our lives with blinders on to the fact that the realtors and landlords who fill this specific niche aren’t every bit as corrupt and awful as the outright slumlords.

Their character as people is fraudulent. They have no concern for others. It doesn't matter how they do the physical job and the spotless image they give as they are still rotten on the inside.
