Black River Tavern

The Black River Tavern is a wonderful restaurant located at the Valley Of The Eagles Golf Club. Prices are good, wide variety of food selections, absolutely stunning atmosphere, and phenomenal staff. They also have a couple of indoor golf simulators within the tavern as well.

Chef Nick and the bartender Dana took perfect care of me. I play at this course every day and could not be more pleased with the consistency that the food and service come with. Best restaurant in Elyria, and the best golf course in Elyria;) come see them!!!

We had an awesome experience at dinner Saturday evening because waitress Sarah made sure of that! And she was very attentive without being annoying. Then the food was so delicious! I had the house made Porcini Mushroom Ravioli that was not only plentiful but was one of the best foods I’ve eaten in a restaurant in a long time, including downtown Cleveland. Then a delicious berry desert that was like I’ve never had topped a perfect meal! This restaurant has it all …atmosphere, excellent service and a first rate chef Nick in the kitchen!

A great cabin feeling of a rustic wood and stone ambiance. Fairly priced location open to the public with bar and grill food that price match competitive prices with your local chain restaurants. Can hold and host large gatherings, including weddings with a golf course right outside it's doors.

The only discrepancy I had was it was COLD inside. the drafts from the doors were awful along with the cold air seeping through single pain windows. (Ohio, due to cold prefers double pain with gas filled inserts.) I ate my noon meal in my winter coat and had to eat fast, in order to enjoy a hot meal before the air flow chilled it. The waitress tried to accommodate with a floor heater but there was nowhere to plug it in, and no offer of any compensation for eating a meal in a heatless location. As much as I so badly want to go back, it definitely won't be in the cold months. I hope this post wakes up the owner. All this money dumped into a beautiful location and the one thing they didn't invest in, was quality windows & door seals and Heating/cooling of said location. A big let down for a new place I wouldn't mind coming back to eat at. If I wanted to eat in the cold in January, I'd light my grill at my own house.

Enjoyed our 2nd anniversary dinner in a place that is so very special to us, kudos to the staff for the fastest service I’ve seen yet, for a group of 12, the service was efficient the staff friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! The steak, the burgers the salad, everything was delicious! A special thank you to Allison for being an awesome waitress and your staff for a wonderful experience we will be back! And thank u Rebecca for setting this reservation for us.very much appreciated!

We went Friday night with a group of 8 and had a fantastic meal. The build your own burger was cooked perfectly and the pretzel sticks were great. My friends and I all had good drinks as well as they all enjoyed their meals specially the valley salmon. Our server Mariah was very attentive and considerate when we asked to to move tables. We had an overall very good experience. Great atmosphere and food.

My wife and I had our first experience here at the black river tavern back in November 2023, it was one of cur Saturday date night destinations while trying to rebuild our marriage. We had a great time, great food and staff. We plan on going back very soon.

Looked this place up on TripAdvisor for a evening meal with colleagues whilst on a business trip. We were fed up of chain restaurants and wanted something local and different. The Black River Tavern didn't disappoint.

The golf course was lit up with holiday season lighting, looked so lovely, the drive up was beautiful. The parking lot was empty though, do not let this out you off! Tucked in the right hand corner, a little darkly lit in comparison to the golf course is the Tavern. When we walked in, I was a little concerned as the place was quiet, but once again do not let that put you off.

The food is to die for! It did not disappoint, we hit the jackpot. The food was pleasantly surprising very high quality, presentation was great, tasty and well balanced plate plus a good sized portions. I had the twin bone in pork chop and there was nothing I didn't like, the cubed potatoes, the veggies, the pork chop and the chutney was all delicious. Clean plate! My colleague had the stockyard sirloin steak and commented exactly the same.

Our server was great, Mariah, she was knowledgeable and even warned us that the cooking time of the pork chop was little longer due to the twin bone. Appreciated that.

After such a great experience, when we enquired at the end why they were so quiet, we were informed that they had a run of bad luck with chefs in the past. Well the current chef is amazing, definitely knows how to prepare a plate of food, and I am sad that Elyria is a 4 hour plane journey away from me, otherwise I would have been back. Therefore next time I'm in Elyria I'm super excited to try the Black River Tavern again, I just hope the word hasn't got out and it is hard to get a reservation there!

Hearts of Patriots held a Donor thank you event Valley of the Eagles Event Center and could not have asked for ,things to go more smoothly from the initial contact to finish. The space was appropriately intimate for the size and tone of our event (35 guests and business casual), the food was excellent as was the staff and service. I would most definitely book Valley of the Eagle again for a similar event.

The New menu is amazing. This is a place you need to try. Pretty good lunch and an updated dinner menu with a touch of everything! I'll be making another dinner reservation soon!

Please, I encourage everyone to check this restaurant out and support your local business! Do not be discouraged by the construction that has been going around that neighborhood near the golf course. My sandwich was juicy, tasty, and very filling. The decor is very nice, and the staff are friendly.

We've hosted two Secret Society Comedy shows at Black River Tavern, and the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating at both. The pizzas are great, and the place is the perfect space to host an event.

Hidden gem. I've not had the pleasure of golfing here, and I was looking for a quiet spot for lunch. This place was perfect. Great view, great food, excellent service. Will absolutely be back

Lovely decor made from trees removed from this famed historic property that the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman has visited on multiple occasions throughout the years. Great nightly specials. Must try: Lobster Bisque, best in the area. Seasonal menu change is a nice touch, great use of local ingredients. Compliments to the chef. Not to mention food and beverage service while indoor golfing on a simulator.

1st time at the restaurant. Food was delicious! Atmosphere I'm sure would be different in warmer seasons but it is winter and was a little chilly inside.

The brussel sprouts were so good followed by the lobster and crab roll. Everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back.

We had our work party there for about 45. They were gracious, kind, accommodating, and the venue was beautiful. We would 100% book again!
