This is well worth the drive and hike. The road is mostly dirt. We saw minivans and some lower clearance vehicles in the parking lot, but you do drive over larger rocks. Once you arrive in the parking lot. The hike was relatively easy hike. The first part was the steepest section of the trail. You pass two lakes before getting to main lake.

They have a rope swing and a ton of people had paddle boards and kayaks. The lake can be cold as it’s fed from a glacier.

The road to the trail head is a bit rough in spots, wouldn't recommend a car. The hike was absolutely beautiful and only about .6 miles to get to the lake.

This was going to be a fun day trip with a short .5 mile hike to an alpine lake. The month was August, the day was Friday and me, my wife, my youngest daughter and her husband all set off on this new adventure.

The road there is not regularly maintained. There are rocks and ruts that require attention and thoughtful driving experience. No cell service means a long walk if your car breaks down. Make sure your vehicle is reliable and in good repair. I did see a few mini vans. Personally, I would not chance driving one of those. It's about 8 miles of a steady climb to the parking lot of the trailhead.

The hike was on a well groomed trail. There are areas of reasonably steep inclines as well as areas navigating rocks an tree roots. There were restrooms and a few picnic tables at the trailhead. It's always good to be prepared with appropriate hiking attire, complete with water and snacks. Having said that, I did see people walking in and out in swimming suits and various footwear. Again, I would recommend being prepared.

The lake is beautiful and clear. There were people who had carried in inflatable rafts and kayaks. There are some cliffs across the lake that people were jumping off of into the water. There was also a rope swing to the left side as you arrive.

Caution: There was a small line of people taking turns on the rope swing. You do need to have appropriate upper body strength and skill to hang on until you are at the apex of the arch, before you let go. There are large boulders below the surface of the water. Injury is imminent if you release early or slide down the rope and hit the water near the shoreline. Remember, no cell service in an emergency means a moderate hike into the lake becomes an arduous hike out.

This is a beautiful place! Well worth the drive and the hike. As mentioned, it makes for a fun day trip adventure. Children five and older should do fine.

Be prepared, have an adventure, enjoy nature and foster relationships!

Easy hike to the lake. Beautiful views and backdrop. Lots of room to set up chairs and find space even when crowded. Lake was not as cold as expected. Rope swing was solid and functional, with the inherent dangers of a rope swing. This is something i would do again.

Great short family friendly hike. The drive getting to the trail head is a dirt road the is fairly rough and not very wide. When cars are passing someone will have to pull over to allow room for the vehicle to pass. The hike is about a mile. Great views. If you go early enough in the season you can slide down the snow into the Lake. We did the rope swing and it was great.

Highly recommend the rope swing. It swung me far into the bitter cold water

Easy trail for the family and beautiful settings in the mountains. There is usually a rope swing to swing into the lake and the water feels great. We were told the rangers try to take the rope down each summer but somehow a new one is put up. Use caution on the rope swing.

Such a beautiful area, and the hike was a lot shorter than expected. One could do it in flip flops if needed, though I prefer to keep my feet protected. I wanted to do the rope swing, but it was raining and windy, so... next time.

Great short (1/2 mile) hike perfect for kids. There is an outhouse at the trail head. Plenty of parking available. Make sure to bring your swiming suite. There is a supper fun rope swing.

This lake is worth visiting. The views are beautiful and the area is very peaceful. It is about a 30-40 minute drive (mostly on a dirt road) to the trailhead from highway 89 when connecting from bloomington canyon road. The trail itself is well marked and easy to navigate even for beginner, I experienced or "less conditioned" hikers. If you get the opportunity to visit, dont miss out.

Bloomington Lake is one of my favorite places to visit when we're staying in Bear Lake. Quick, easy hike that takes you into an awesome glacier lake. The rope swing is kind of sketchy but it's a ton of fun.

Signage is good, bathrooms are better than most and there is adequate parking. Stay on the trail. We helped a father who had lost his wife and daughters in the back country. Stay on the trail!

Definitely do. Easy hike, though not so easy you want to bring a wagon... Lol. Kid friendly. Beautiful glacial lake. Careful on the rope swing...

Beautiful lake with a moderate hike to get there. Too many people for my tastes buy it was raspberry festival time.
