Colony House Motel

This is a place I have stayed over the years since the 80s. I recently stayed this summer 2016 and it s pleasantly still there. This place is updated some but hasn't been torn down and replaced with a big sterile chain. I love that, it was just right for a casual sightseeing type trip and it has some old school charm and vintage feel and its a great value still. Sure it's not super modern and has some small flaws but it's all part of the adventure of vacationing. I want something real and to remember on my trip. The manager and others staying weren't pretentious people.but hard working mountain or adventure loving down to earth folks.

Stayed here over the weekend.. the manager was awesome, the room was nice and had the good vibe I wanted.. the building itself has been around since the 50s.. its been redone of course, but not to the point its lost that old school feel.. and i love that! The scenery was awesome to wake up too.. over all loved it and will stay again for sure.

I hope it's still open. Some of the happiest moments of my life were spent there.
It is one of the quaintest little places to go for a quiet, mental health break. Beautiful scenery, a nice easy trail in the back with tons of wildflowers and wildlife. Pretty little pond too. If you want to see bears, take a short drive to the dumpsters at 2:00 in the morning. They will be there eating pizza scrapes and wishing for beer. They need to get the pool opened again.
The staff is friendly and there is morning coffee. The rooms are not the greatest, but you can't beat them for the price. Did I mention pizza delivery? Grab a few 6 packs at the local quicky mart and you are all set for a peaceful weekend. The rooms have 'fridges (for the beer and any leftovers).
And yes, this is the place that was written about in one of the weird mountain tales of "high" adventure. Please be open!

We are treated like family. The staff is the best! The rooms are nice and the prices are good. Also, we're appreciative of the beautiful scenic beauty of the Afton Mountain area. Thanks for making our stay very enjoyable.

After coming off the Park Ridge Highway this is the most fitting place to stay. Super friendly and clean . The most comfortable beds and the rooms are cute as a button. I highly recommend this place and we will be back!

Great place, the location is amazing! Literally minutes from Skyline Drive, Swannanoa Castle, and dozens of scenic views. It's the perfect place to stop on your way down the interstate: quick hop back onto the road in the morning and far enough from the city to feel like you're truly in the countryside. Last but not least: the price! No better deal around, worth every penny.

OK, it is an older hotel. But rooms were clean and cozy. Very quaint and bed was super comfortable. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely informative and friendly and answered every question we had

This was stop 3 of a 6 night trip I took on my bike. BY FAR the greatest value for the money! It's clean and safe, the staff is friendly, the town isn't that far away and there are creature comforts line cable and wi-fi. Don't be fooled this isn't a 5 star hotel, but it doesn't claim to be either. Had some minor issues getting my phone to connect to the wi-fi, but I found that everywhere. Seriously, stay a few nights at some other roadside motels and compare for yourself, I would absolutely stay there again!

Went here for Veterans day in 2017 to hike Crabtree Falls. Clean room, comfortable and welcoming environment and customer service. Minor aging to bathroom mirror, which only added to the charm. Will return.

Wow blown away with the hot tub room it is great 2 people can get in it and enjoy the jets AND it is Separate from the main hotel so it is just you like a little house has microwave and fridge nice table and 32 inch tv 80 + tax a night i think

Nice place, price was right, beds were comfortable, only thing I could complain about was that there wasn’t a lot of water pressure but for what I paid it was worth it

New owners are fixing this place up! Looks nice. The housekeeper does an excellent job with a great sense of humor!!! Something everyone needs to go check out!!!

Quaint, clean, quiet and very friendly staff. Ideal location, with easy access to Skyline Dr., Blue Ridge Pkwy, and 64. Will definitely be back!

Though I have been to this place very first time and stayed there and I'm pleased comment that I liked Colony Motel due to its scenic beauty around & friendly management providing top class services in a reasonable price.

Con does good work with his establishment. The building is a little old, but it sits in the mountains and has good energy.

Love this one! Very family friendly! Very clean motel, great view and even has a pool! Can’t go wrong here! Love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really glad I found this place. Super nice staff and close to Skyline Dr. I will be staying g here the next time I ride down.
