This is a really cool place and I'm glad the money has been invested to preserve this piece of history. There's plenty of free parking in the lot in the back. They're only open certain days but I highly suggest checking it out. A very cool piece of Pensacola history. Thank you.

I have not visited yet but am thrilled to read this living memorial exists. I knew General James and his lovely wife Dottie well. He lived across the street from me at Scott AFB as a Lt. Gen. and we corresponded through my college days until his passing. Truly a great American, patriot, and friend. Thanks for establishing this awesome tribute!

My nephews, Nicko & Donte really enjoyed learning about General Daniel "Chappie" James. What a fantastic legacy Gen. James left for young black males to have right in their hometown of Pensacola. My mom and I garnered a lot of new information about Gen. James from our visit as well. Seeing "Chappie's First Steps" reminded me of being a young girl growing up in Pensacola and wondering what the landmark meant. Gen. Chappie James was a true American Hero.

Chappie James is a true American Hero. A Tuskegee Airman. The first black Four Star General. A Pensacola native.
