Met with Steve concerning the increase in our property taxes. He was efficient and professional while spending time investigating the increased tax situation. Even though he wasn't able to decrease our taxes he was personable and helpful. (I was also impressed with the receptionist who had the creative job title- "Director of First Impressions" )

The property appraiser staff does an excellent job. I've been in the real estate business for many years and their online GIS tools and downloadable tax maps are the best I've seen in Florida. The times I've needed help with research, the staff was able to accommodate me without an appointment. I've had nothing but positive interactions with them. I'm a retired Land Acquisition Coordinator for a major local employer.

I spoke to a Mrs. Sumer and she was very polite and helpful. We need more customers service people like her.

Chris Jones has personally contacted me about helping with a property that I am unable to rent out or live in. Yeah. Post the outcome later. Whenever contacted they are always nice.

I've tried using the website several time to file for homestead exemption to no avail. Anyone else having this issue? I called only to be told they didn't know what was wrong with it .

I called and the receptionist was very nice, but the girl she transferred me to answered the phone very abruptly, "Can I help you?!!!" I asked if I could have my homestead exemption application emailed to me because my bank needed it. She said in a very nasty voice "NO! You have to come in!" then I said "Okay thank you, I'll be in the morning" no response from her and she hung up. It was 4:43. I understand she was trying to go home, but she was still on the clock, and I did not appreciate being treated this way. I never treat anyone this way in a professional environment. This girl is not a professional.

So there are some very nice people that work at this office and I apologize to those individuals for the one star, this is very much a case of one bad apple spoils, the whole bunch. In 2007 I was in an accident shattering the C6 vertebrae and ever since have been diagnosed as a C6 quadriplegic. A spinal cord injury is permanent and so this diagnosis has remained for the last 16 years and will not change going forward. In the last 16 years, I’ve been very fortunate, and have never actually run into anyone that has tried to argue my diagnosis with me. Certainly not someone in the setting of a county tax office. Unfortunately, my last visit to this office, the representative did exactly that and tried to counter the diagnosis of medical doctors, and proceeded to tell me what I was. Not having experienced this before I will admit, I was stunned. The representative certainly didn’t indicate she was any sort of medical professional with the ability to counter 16 years of medical records within five minutes of meeting me. Again, there are some very nice people in this office, they can definitely still help you, however behavior, such as telling somebody who is lived with a disability for 16 years that they are wrong, that doctors are wrong, that everybody for the last 16 years has been wrong because a county employee, not a medical professional, thinks they know better is 1000% unacceptable. I’m sure nothing much happens with these reviews, but I do think that needs to be said. There is absolutely no reason for somebody to do something like this, it is a horrible feeling and quite a nasty thing to do to somebody. Hopefully going forwards that behavior will be stopped.

His office had my address wrong in their system (a typo) and I got stuck with paying non-homestead our first year in the house because their notification never got delivered to me. When I complained I actually got a letter from Mr. Jones himself where he basically said it was my fault. Not impressed.
