I tried obtaining a new passport via Vietnamese Consulate in NYC but no one replies. I deducted to apply with the embassy in DC instead. The whole process is via email. They called and confirm with me the reason for obtaining a new passport (when my current passport still has 2 more years). Got the new passport within 2 days. Very quick service!

Very fast, efficient, and everything was done remotely! My passport got damaged so I had to get a new one. I live in NYC, so I first contacted the Vietnam Consulate in NYC trying to get an appointment. Radio silence for weeks. When I emailed the Embassy, they responded to me within an hour. The entire process was done through email, from sending scanned documents to making payments. Within less than 2 days I received my new passport, delivered to my doorstep. 10/10 service.

I called the numbers on their website, it took some attempts but I got someone to help me with my passport renewal process via text message. They were nice, professional, quick to respond and gave me updates thoughout the process. Despite my case being a bit more complicated -- I received my passport within 8 days. Thank you!

Kindly convey my message to the President of Vietnam that grant Clemency to Ms. Troung for $44 Billions scandle...I love your great Country and the way you made Great advances in science n technology and contributions of good n bad individuals but you have see that Texas Governor Bush could not handle $300 millions and sunk it while Ms Troung did handle $44Billions very well and the government have it...she has great potentials for future of Vietnam...Forgiving her will be positive act to Empower women...fine her. I had to shoot over here from Chicago because they do not have a Vietnamese Consulate in Chicago. There was only two windows and a person standing next to me told me that the family at the window was at the window a couple hours the day before. Only one person working at one of the two windows. Thought I had my Visa situation handled before I left Vietnam but immigration stopped me on my way out saying it was a one-time entry or one time exit which I've never heard of warning me that I would not be able to reenter on that visa. Thus making the force trip and unplanned trip to Washington DC for the Vietnam embassy. I had what I needed completed paid the fee and then needed a photo a young kid behind the glass came out to help me take it with his cell phone. That was nice of him. Vietnam is a very backwards country. They use a Gmail account for their email here and that should say enough. Five stars just because of the great customer service when I did get to the window. Both of them were friendly.

Mai is super. She works like a super AI machine. She was receiving, reading, answering all the papers, documents,.. by herself within 2 hours straight no break. She handled like a champ! I wish I can renew my Passport with her help in the future. Thanks Mai.. I hope that I called your name correctly. 24 hours driving was not tired at all!

I don't know what happened with most people here but mine was lighting fast and super easy! I don't really care what number they use, personal or work office as long as I get what I want. Renewal passport and have it a next day via FedEx, $220 total through credit card! Everything through text messages and emails, super convenient and can be done anywhere you are. Yes it is much more easier and faster when you renew the passport in Viet Nam.

The best of Visa servive in Us!! Please dont let those bad comments stop you. I did service with Washington embassy twice and they satisfy me every time. If nobody answers the phone line, simply send them email mentioned in the official website with your contact number they will call you. ( Please consider their huge pile of works and it is actually human answering the phone) Their service is so fast and you DONT NEED TO BOTHER PAY MORE FOR OTHER AGENCY to get the same expedited process as the main embassy does. Just tell them what you need they will help you!
Seriously I wish Us embassy or other country embassy have the same efficient work like Vietnamese embassy!

Had a great experience. Was able to pay over the phone. When they didn’t pick up, they always called back. They were able to get all my documents back in the mail back to me within a few days of my documents arriving. Thank you!!

I applied for my passport renewal 2 days ago. I was worried after seeing overwhelmingly negative reviews on here. The process was surprisingly quick and easy. I had previously emailed them to find out that the passport renewal fee was $170 (no idea why they don't put it on the website). My new passport arrived today in my prepaid UPS envelope.

Admittedly, the service was pricey, and the paperwork was daunting. There was a bibliography to describe what your parents have been doing since 1945, and mine weren't even born until 6 years later. But as far as the Embassy service was concerned, it was efficient. People were nice when I was there. If they were bad in the past, I think they are changing for the better.

Couldn’t be better. I went on a Monday morning for passport renewal, service was quick and easy, people were friendly. Received my new passport in the mail 3 days after.

I emailed them and they emailed back instructions and fees in a couple of hours. I disregarded their instruction to send passport with tracking service. I called 1 week after sending it in and they could not find it in the computer as being processed. I was transferred to a man in charge of paper applications, and he could not find it. About an hour later, he had located it and called me back. As I had explained my flight was scheduled for Tuesday and this was on a Friday he offered to send it Fed Ex overnight. He finished processing my visa and provided me the tracking number through text from what I assume was his personal phone. The processing of the visa and his purchasing the FedEx service all occurred after their posted hours on a Friday. I believe this man stayed an hour late on a Friday to ensure I could go on my trip. I could not be more appreciative! The previous experience I had was I mailed in my passport with tracking and received it back stamped exactly 1 week later.

I would not buy into all the negative reviews and fret about coming in for a service at Vietnam's embassy. I didnt have wait long when I came to renew my passport in person at the consular office in DC. The staff couldn't be more courteous and responsive. When issuing a receipt, they assured me I would receive a new passport on the following Thursday the latest, but I ended up receiving it earlier than expected. The passport renewal process is simple and speedy if you follow the instruction outlined on the website of the embassy and submit all the required documents, cheque/money order and a prepaid mailing label and envelope. The fee required to renew an expired passport is $70, not sure how much it costs to apply for a new passport. You could always call the consular office and ask questions: they'd typically pick up between 9-12 pm and 2-4 pm on business days.

I live in DC area. To come to the embassy, i take metro red line to Dupont Circle then walk 10 minutes about 3 blocks south of Dupont circle I want to renew my old viet visa expired long time ago. In the application, they ask for 2 passport photo taken less than 6 months. Plus they want a photocopy of the picture page of my old expired us passport and also a copy of old Vietnam expired visa stamp in the old passport. I did not know that so I go to the fedex office about 2 blocks away ( on M and 19th street next to USPS office) 5 minutes walk from embassy to photocopy 90 cent a color piece. I submitted visa request paperwork and get back within a week with reasonable price 50 $ for 5 years new unlimited visa stamp paid by credit card . Unlimited means you can get in and out for 6 months each anytime for 5 years. Good deal . One same floor 4th , public rest rooms are very nice next to exit stairs . The office is very busy and multitasking, additional personnel should be welcome .
To get this viet visa form on line, i fill out the form then print it and sign at home . I google vietnam mien thi thuc . It leads you to the form on Vietnam embassy web page to fill out . This form has viet/ english blank to fill out and applicable to those has viet last names, children of viet parents, husband and wife of viet americans and more .

I applied a sticker visa from the Embassy of Vietnam. I communicated with the visa officer via emails. The replies are always timely and helpful. The visa officer answered my questions and deliver helpful information in the emails. I applied visas in Embassies of 7 other countries. They did not reply emails or answer calls. Comparably, the visa officer in Vietnam Embassy did excellent and exceptional work to impress me!

Hands down the best embassy experience I've ever had, for any country. I waited until the last minute, unintentionally, and called to ask about a 1-year multi-entry visa. It was December 24th and my flight was on the 29th. A man answered and told me to email their support email address. I received a response less than 20 minutes later with where to apply online and what to do. With it being Christmas, I waited until the evening of the 25th. The website wouldn't let me upload pictures so I couldn't apply. I emailed in the morning and again, in less than 20 minutes, I had a response with a .doc application and was told to fill it out and email it with my photos back. 10 minutes later they asked for payment ($210 including $20 for express delivery) by credit card. They said I'd have it by the 28th. On the 28th, I didn't see it, so I emailed again. 5 minutes later I had the tracking number and they said it had been delivered. I checked and they were right, it was just hiding under the porch. Their responsiveness amd helpfulness is something neither I (US citizen) nor my partner (South African citizen) have experienced from any embassy for any country in any country in over 2 years of traveling the world. Call them and email them now with whatever you need! :)

Completed VISA application online, printed everything out, and then emailed about VISA fees as directed. Received a detailed email back within only a few hours. Sent all of my info by Certified Mail. They received my info on a Monday and I had my Passport with approved VISA back by Wednesday (two days later)! I actually was worried I goofed on something and they were returning it when I saw the USPS Express envelope waiting for me on the door. Not sure what more you could ask for.
