This is an awesome step into our country's past. Frank is an awesome source of knowledge and delightful to speak to. We weren't able to make the tour time and plan to go back in order to see some upcoming events. The museum is small but full of interesting facts and information. Clean well maintained grounds, perfect setting for a picnic with a few picnic tables. The ladies in the gift shop are very nice, friendly and knowledgeable as well. If you are in the are don't pass this up.

Beautiful place to visit with a lot of history! Recommend to anyone who is looking for place to take pictures. It’s free to visit and we took our photos at after hours. But please give donations, buy something at the gift shop and be respectful to help theses places like this survive.

Fantastic history here. Take the tour, it's 2 bucks! They have a reenactment every year on the anniversary of the original skirmish that draws 3500 people. Plus, they do holiday lighting and other things. A must see! Frank was super knowledgeable and friendly.

What amazing history I never knew existed. The story behind this home is amazing! Did you know the mother of the house hid her children in the chimney to protect them while the house was being fired at? Check out the musket holes around the front door!

Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful historic home that was owned by several influential people over the 200+ years the house has been in existence. It's a drive out but well with it!

I'm related to both parties involved in this skirmish. Col. Alston is my 6th great grandfather and Col. David Fanning is my 1st Cousin 7 X removed. His uncle is my direct 6th great grandfather. I came to Fayetteville NC to work and it was a short 1 hour drive over. The house was in amazing condition for a Colonial era home. Beautiful grounds. Gift shop could use more info and period type gifts. Friendly staff. Glad I came. Highly recommend to see this.

This is a beautiful property and an awesome house from the Revolutionary War. There is a building with a small museum and the house itself to visit. People are welcome to tour the inside of the house. The museum workers are very welcoming and are happy to answer questions.

Awesome place and the best tour. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. She loves her job and it shows. This revolutionary war treasure was a great preserved piece of the history of the USA and how we won our freedom.

My wife and I saw the sign on US HWY 421 and decided on a whim to go see the site. We were very pleasantly surprised to find a gem of history in this part of NC. The house is well-maintained and has a bit of history from the Revolutionary period that we were unaware of. Our visit gave us an insight into the personal lives of people living at the time and what they experienced as a result of the Revolution that was sweeping the country. The young woman who gave us our tour was extremely well versed in the story of Philip and Temperance Alston and their run-in with Col Fanning and the wartime action that resulted. The staff was most helpful, knowledgeable and professional.

This property is a window into the past and a great way to feel what it was like living in rural North Carolina hundreds of years ago.

Seeing the bullet holes still in the walls from the Revolutionary War era is a poignant reminder of what our ancestors went through to earn their freedom.

I have been to the reenactment many times and highly recommend it, but the property is also very interesting and fun to explore in its more quiet times.

A very unique Historical Site with some of the best information on the Revolutionary War in North Carolina. It's off the beaten path about 15 miles outside of the city of Sanford NC. Don't let the location let you miss out on the beautiful location. It also serves as a reminder to the realistic visions as reminders of the fight over 240 years ago. Bullet holes are still in the side of the houses. All of the staff are very friendly and professional.

If you like American history, this is a must see. Holes from musket balls are still visible in the house walls from a revolutionary skirmish. A well maintained site and one of the only sites of it's kind. It's totally free and the tour was very informative. Donations are appreciated.
