We decided to go for a short stroll in the woods, one afternoon, which starts at the end of the camping sites. It was perfect for young kids.
We enjoyed the stream going by the Campground. We saw some people swimming where the water was moving slower. All of the camping areas were taken. There must be a bit of a wait to reserve a spot.

This is a small, very remote campground on the edge of the national park. We were set up to stay here a week, but after a change of plans, ended up at Elkmont instead. As a result, we only stayed here a night, in site A10.

I saw several reviews before we went saying the the sites are small. I don't know that I'd agree with that - our site, at least, was fairly spacious - but the layout was downright weird. Our tent pad was positioned behind the parking spot for the site next to us, and their tent was on the far side of that spot. Perfect for a group that wants both sites, I suppose, but a bit uncomfortable for us, especially since we got in late at night and had trouble finding our spot.

The tent pad was comfortable, but I have my doubts about the size. I could've sworn the reservation said it could fit a 9x12 tent, which is the size of our tent when the sunroom isn't set up, but our tent was too large for the pad. We ended up fudging the set-up so we could get everything to fit.

There's one restroom in the campground and it's a bit of a hike to get to it; there's a paved path between two campsites, and the restroom is the lit building in the woods behind them. It's a long walk in the middle of the night, but not too bad if you have a flashlight. There are flush toilets and running water.

While many of the sites aren't on the river directly, there is access to the water either through empty sites or between some of the sites.

Quiet. Peaceful. A hidden gem!

Husband and I had a great time. Booking was easy, and the campground was clean and the creek beautiful! If you love Quiet, then this place is it! There were a couple families staying further down from us yet at night you could literally hear a pin drop it was so quiet. All that can be heard is the water rushing over the rocks. During the day however, bird songs fill the air and the camp comes to life!
The bathrooms were clean (minus the couple bugs that snuck there way in there but that’s expected) and everyone was friendly. Also during the day you will see several hikers walk passed to gain access to trailheads via the campground, but this place is definitely not a busy spot.
We will definitely be escaping here again soon! There is NO cell service though, but that’s what we want when we go camping anyway! To unplug and admire Gods creation. And here? There’s plenty to look at and love.

Campsite #6 was great. Very calm and peaceful campsite. No showers, but flush toilets. Bathrooms are well kept. Theres trash disposal as well as central water available. Only con is having to drive kind of far to get to the rest of the park. Pros include having access to the Abrams falls trailhead nearby. Enjoy!

I loved this campground! There are hiking trailheads that start in the campground and just outside the ranger station. No cell service no showers. They have a central spigot for clean water. The Foothills Parkway made each trip to Townsend enjoyable. If you don’t mind the drive to get to the rest of the park attractions then this is a great spot. We stayed at campsite #8

The remoteness of this small campground is spectacular. Trails run through Abram's creek and a dawn fire makes this retreat more than sweet. The "s" winding roads makes the adventure more than one hopes for the lost cell service is consumed by natures beauty. Sometimes being disconnected from the internet makes life more profound...the screen in front out our face is a distracting disgrace.

Best tent campground in the park!small compaired to cades cove and cosby only 16 smaller tent sites.1 through 9 are directly on Abrams creek and the middle to end of the row are prime spots.we stayed in 5.there was a reservation on 4 but nobody showed and 6 was empty.7 left our first morning and we were left in one of the most private and quiet of any we have stayed out of 5 or 6 national park trips.highly recomend and its close enough to town that supplys are not a big issue.

Small, scenic, peaceful. The forgotten side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We stayed at campsite 9 which I would highly recommend, it’s the last on the right along abrams creek . Get this site or campsite 8 right before it for what I think are the best sites and parts of the river for recreation. Also here at the campground you have direct access to a couple trailheads, one of which being Abraham’s Falls. This hike is 10.2 miles round trip. I dislike ratings of easy moderate and hard as I don’t think they’re thorough enough... so on a scale of 1-10 of difficulty I’d rate it a strong 7. My partner and I smashed this hike out from 4:15-8pm which was pretty intense but we wanted to be back before dark. Anyways, allow yourself and extra hour than us and DO THIS HIKE, it rules. Reward yourself with a swim and snack at the falls. The nice thing is when you get back... you’ll be right at your site for beer and dinner. On that note , word to the wise. Make sure you’re prepared with everything you need. Amenities are a 25-30 minute drive away.

Remote part of park yet close to Foothills Parkway. No long wait in traffic to get to a trailhead. Nicely sized with 16 campsites, some right on the water. Easy to enjoy Abrams Creek and quite a few trails.

It was as described, nice and quiet. The stream behind our cabin was soothing. The heater was more than adequate, I had to turn it down several times. Thanks so much, we'll be back

Very nice campground. I like that they have sites right on the river. Very well kept up and far enough back into the woods that the only thing you could hear there would be other campers and wildlife.

I've been camping here since I was a kid. Now I take my kids. Great spot for swimming, tubing, hiking, and teaching little ones about the Great Smoky Mountains. Highly recommend. Take firewood (seasoned) as it's hard to find up there.

Quiet area. Sites do stay full even during the week. Creekside campsites. Creek is nice and relaxing. Drive down the mountain for cell service otherwise, enjoy the quiet...
