This is the very best Veterinary Facility in the Houston without any question or doubt. The Veterinarians who work there are very intelligent and are the best in this line of work. The amount of gratitude and utmost respect I have for them is beyond words because of how they saved my dogs life. My dog of 14 years, at the time, suffered a infected hemorrhoid a year ago that was presenting him a great amount of pain and creating problems with his daily functions. He was unable to eat, walk, and use the restroom correctly due to his infection. I went to numerous veterinaries in Houston and all of them gave me the exact same answer that my dog had no chance of survival with going through an operation to remove his hemorrhoid and the best thing to do was to put him down. But I was not going to settle for that because my dog has been apart of my family since 1999 and putting him down was not an option for me. Then after finding out about this place through a friend gave me hope. Upon my first visit at Gulf Coast I was directed to the veterinarian named Suzanne Hunter. She told me after meeting with her for the first time that she would be able to remove his hemorrhoid without any complications and save his life. I didn't hesitate with that kind of analysis so we went forth with the operation and as promised they saved his life. I cannot believe that so many veterinarians told me my dog had no chance when there was one all along. A year later after his operation I can proudly say I still have my dog who just turned 15 and its all thanks to Gulf Coast because without them my dog would not be alive with me today. I can't thank Dr. Hunter and the staff who work there enough for their tremendous work and service they provided for my dog. They actually want to help and save dogs versus other vets in Houston who showed me they don't by just saying he should be put down when in reality Gulf Coast said putting him down was in no way necessary because it was a very fixable operation. I hope this case regarding my dog will serve as a true testimony for others to see how highly skilled the veterinarians are at Gulf Coast and that they really are the best veterinarians in Houston!

From the moment I walked into this clinic, until I left, my dog and I were treated with professionalism. The staff went above and beyond in helping me with my pitbull baby, as he can be animal aggressive. I would definitely recommend this clinic to my family, friends or anyone who needs help with their fur babies. To the people complaining about price, this isn't an ordinary vet, and yes the prices are high, but by the time you are referred to this clinic your vet has exhausted all of their expertise and you need a specialist. The reason they go over the cost before hand is a precaution on their end, it may seem insincere, but it is a fact of business; they are a business and make profit in animal care. I worked at a radiology facility, try telling someone with cancer and no insurance that the MRI they need costs (and is due up front) $5000 before they get the test, and see how insincere they see you. Everything costs money, and I'd like to think that they keep it to a minimum. Educate yourself about your animals care about what treatment may be life saving and what may be routine.

I have had only the best experience here. Nancy Doyle and the rest of the staff here have been wonderful. They have provided the best rehab for my dog Kali, and in my opinion the best she could possible receive anywhere. My dog hurt her leg while I was living in California, and maybe I am biased because California prices are really high, I didn't find the treatment to be too expensive. I would recommend anyone needing the best care for their animals to bring them here.

My girlfriend's dog had surgery here twice (foreign body removal and torn cruciate) and has recovered perfectly both times. After our experience with GCVS, neither of us would trust anyone else. The building is like a human hospital and has pretty much every department you can think of. Our doctor seemed incredibly knowledgeable and was extremely helpful explaining our options. Highly recommended.

Extremely impressed with professionalism, attention, and care given to my small bird :)

When I discovered my budgie (known as a parakeet in some parts of the US) very listless and quiet first thing one morning, I didn't know where to take him - he'd never been sick before and had never had to see a vet. I am so glad I found this practice, particularly the Avian and Exotics dept! We were able to make an appointment for later the same day; the doctor was very attentive, answering all our questions and taking great care with our pet, and explaining everything she was doing before she did it.

When it came to pricing, we were shown the prices of ALL the options, before anything was done, on a printed out sheet, so that we could make informed choices about the steps we wanted to take. We were not pushed into any particular choices, simply told about them and allowed to make up our own minds.

Best of all, the medications we were prescribed seem to have worked perfectly, and our budgie is (5 days after our visit) almost back to his old self, full of energy, eating normally, and singing happily in his cage even as I type.

I highly recommend this surgery for bird care and would unhesitatingly take my budgie here again.

Our dog had a large lipoma that was growing way too fast (it turned out to be a sarcoma). They did a wonderful job taking it out. Since our dog had a sarcoma taken out before when we were in San Diego, we can compare side-by-side. Gulf Coast was cheaper, faster, better done... I see people complaining about the cost in their reviews. Not only Gulf Coast was half the price than the vet in San Diego, but also the final bill was right on the lower end of the estimate range. We are extremely satisfied, and glad to have our Labrador back home!

WOW!! That is all I can say regarding the service, professionalism and care my dog, Tank, and our family received from the day we walked in until sadly Tank was gone. We were referred to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists from our local vet in Tomball. I understand why they sent us there. The staff was loving and caring to us and our situation. We were given so much of their time to walk us through our choices for caring for Tank. Our doctor talked to us on nights and on weekends to inform us of findings and the next steps. When we were presented with very difficult choices, they helped us so lovingly. I want to thank Gulf Coast and Dr. Hudson for their love and support during this difficult time. I would definitely recommend anyone with a pet with needs to reach out to Gulf Coast.

I went in and told them I was on a strict budget and they did everything to accommodate that. Going to a speciallist, you know it will be a bit more price wise but it was nice feeling like they were understanding of my situation and did everything to meet my standards. everyone here is so nice and they actually care about your pet and not just the bill.

My duck has foot swelling and they have been wonderful about trying to fix the problem. They even called to check on him after our first visit!

Wonderful and loving doctors and staff. My experience is in the exotic pets (chinchilla and bird). Dr. Chen is the best!

I completely disagree with Vlasta's post. My chinchilla needs regular care and yes they are expensive but you have an anesthesiologist and other doctors with your pet in surgery (like a human would have) instead of just one doctor trying to monitor and perform the surgery. Much better chance of survival that way. Plus, my doctor has gotten the hospital to reduce the costs for me since we're regulars :-)

VERY HAPPY!

We have been going to GCVS, for more than 5 years and our experience has been top notch. The doctors and staff are professional, courteous and caring. Jazz (our dog) has been cared for by the orthopedic and internal medicine staffs, and is currently in physical rehab for leg issues. We have, and will continue to recommend GCVS to anyone who cares about their pets. Thanks Gulf Coast!

We are very pleased with the care our Sylvie received, Dr. Irwin is very through and patient. Her assistant Paola has been most helpful and very patient with our many questions. They are working with our local vet to make sure Sylvie gets the best care.
Yes, a little more expensive, but specialist in any field earn more. If money was their motivator they would not be willing to work with our vet.
What a crew... Love them all.

GCVS is certainly more expensive than your regular vet, but I truly believe that you get what you pay for. Having a sick animal is a terrible thing and I am constantly blown away by the kind, compassionate nature of every single person who works there, right down to the security guard in the parking lot.
It seems most of the negative reviews here are based around the cost of treatment, but I've been impressed by how transparent all the charges are and how you get a very detailed breakdown upfront in order to make the decision that is best for you and your fur baby. Quality care is expensive, but there is never any guilt or pressure to perform procedures or treatments that you don't want to do. I hope no one ever has to go to GCVS for treatment, but if you do, you'll know you're making the best of a bad experience.

The best experience imaginable. I've had more than one pet referred to surgery and the knowledge of the staff along with the quality of care is unmatched. From the time I walked in I felt comfortable having my dog in their hands. Thanks GCVS for taking care of Lizzie.

My African Grey parrot, Einstein, had the absolute best care here. The doctors and staff successfully nursed him through a risky surgery and a chronic infection. Sadly, today we said goodbye to our sweet friend of 30 years. He had a stroke last weekend and was not able to recover. He is soaring with the eagles now, and he slipped away surrounded by his loving family and the doctors and technicians at GCVS. They gave him the best care ever and he absolutely considered them his extended family. He always saw the clinic as his "happy place" so he was comfortable and at peace when we set him free.

We definitely have a Stein-shaped hole in our hearts that no pet will ever be able to fill. He brought us so much happiness and love and we are so glad we had as much time with him as we did. Most of all, we are grateful for the wonderful staff at GCVS, who made his final days the best they could be!

My cat recently visited GCVS for a procedure, and I can't say enough positive things about GCVS and it's staff. I am confident in saying that from the moment we walked through the door, straight through to the time that we left, we were provided with the very best care. Dr. Neal and her team went above and beyond to ensure that my cat was well provided for, and that I was well informed.

Gulf Coast Physical Therapy department is outstanding! Our dog had an inoperable spinal cord injury leaving him completely paralyzed in his back end. After 2 months of hydro and laser therapy he is walking superbly, playing with our other dog and running in the yard. He continues to improve with bi weekly treatments. They gave us a lot of homework to do with excellent instructions. Nancy and her team, Kristina and Yanet are extremely knowledgable, obviously experienced and very caring. Do not give up on your dog and go see this group.

Our dog has cancer and is being treated at GCVS. The doctors and staff at Gulf Coast have been delightful to work with and have provided the best customer service of any hospital or vet we have ever been to. I could go on and on about how amazing their staff is, but just know that if for some reason you find yourself needing to take your pet to a specialist, he will be in the best hands at GCVS.

Probably need to remember that you get what you pay for! My dog, age 7, fine one minute and on his death bed the next. Something had attacked his immune system and he became anemic immediately. I had my vet monitor him a few days but his red blood cell count was falling fast. Took him to GCVS where he received a blood transfusion, which was very successful. Before taking Bandit in, I called around to a couple of other places that do transfusions, and although helpful, they needed to get the blood for the transfusion, where GCVS has blood on hand -- all types. No waiting around - Bandit was in at 4 and the transfusion took place shortly after. I requested they not do anything that will cost me without calling me first, and that is exactly what they did. These guys are amazing!!! And yes, expensive, but I wasn't ready to loose my little boy Bandit!!! I now suggest to all my friends and will do in the future -- GET CATASTROPHIC insurance coverage for your pets!! I didn't have it but sure wish I had!

I absolutely loved my experience at GCVS. All of the staff members were very kind and professional, and our internist (Dr. Rebecca Norton) was absolutely fantastic. My beloved pup Sherman, who is usually completely terrified of new places, was very comfortable during the whole process and even fell asleep in the lobby. All of the nurses and Dr. Norton were very gentle with Sherman, and quickly figured out the cause of his chronic cough. We will definitely be back to see Dr. Norton for all of our future internal medicine needs. Thank you again!!
