Super cute, clean park with an iconic grist mill, a stunning waterfall and plenty of hiking trails. I absolutely recommend. Great place to spend a beautiful day. Took my dogs here and had a blast

As a photographer, this beautiful mill has been on my bucket list to visit in the fall for a long time! The friendly park ranger answered my phone call immediately this morning and patiently informed us of conditions and foliage status. While we drove several hours to reach Babcock State Park, the colorful foliage did not disappoint!! Even on a rainy day this is well worth a long drive. We loved the views and the setting. The roads were good all the way to the park and you can stop at Humpback Covered Bridge in Alleghany County, VA not too far away. Babcock State Park offers cabins though a small vehicle seems best as the access road is narrow. There is a gift shoppe by Glade Creek Grist Mill and areas to walk. We wish we had more time to explore but it was a lovely day trip! There was no crowd at all on this drizzly day despite how famous this spot is for photographers. However the colors were brilliant in the reflective light. Parking was adequate and accessible with a walker or wheelchair to enjoy the paved path. The mill was not open for tours the day we were there but appears to be on certain days.

Island in the Sky trail was awesome. Great photo op at State shaped Almost Heaven sign, and there is a swing! The park is just beautiful. In addition to the mill check out the drive to the scenic overlook, well worth it-plenty of signs to get you there. The gift shop attendant was super sweet and the beauty of the area alone is worth a day trip. Be sure to walk down stream several smaller falls and large boulders. We went super early, fills up quick!

One of the most beautiful nature landscapes that I have visited. We didn't expect to see snow before going there but then snow everywhere and my daughter was very happy.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! My family and I always love seeing what our beautiful state has to offer. I highly recommend it if you need to get away for a day or two. :) Staff is very friendly and they have a lot of great items in the gift shop.

Beautiful park! Well kept, large spots, reasonable rates. Super close to the New River Gorge National Park and has plenty of its own things to do - trails, an old grist mill, camp store/gift shop, and plenty more.

Will be adding this to one of our favorite WV spots!

A great state park to just stroll around look at the wildlife and scenery. They have a stream and a grist mill, which makes for great pictures. They have really set this up nicely for visitors with a large swing built for adults just overlooking the stream. You can picnic right there on the Banks, or take a short hike down to the waters edge and go wading. A must stop if you’re in the area.

Our second time visiting - primarily to see the Glade Creek Grist Mill. This time, we stayed in one of the pet friendly cabins. Late booking only left one of the smaller cabins, but with good internet and full electric, heat & AC, refrigerator, full stove w/oven and microwave, as well as firewood and linens, it was worth the money. However, if you are used to high-end hotel stay, you would be disappointed. It was great to stay in the park and avoid a lot of the people who just come in for pics of the mill. We went to the lake and rented the very reasonably-priced paddle boats. Many hiking trails, swinging bridges, and beautiful scenery. This park is also not far from the New River Gorge Bridge area to take advantage of that national park.

Absolutely stunning grist mill and park with cabins available for rent. Lots of great trails and. A terrific gift shop with adequate rest room facilities. Tons of areas for just relaxing and watching the creek or for picnicking. Five Star Park don't miss it

We stayed a couple nights in cabin 8. Be warned in advance, you must walk to the cabin. The road is approximately 100 feet uphill from the cabin. So all your gear is carried along with food and drink. I did not see this on the website. We did see some that have roads going to them, so absolutely call or check ahead. The cabins we are in are NOT handicap or elderly friendly. The park is beautiful! The people are great!

Location*****
My wife and I chose Babcock SP as our stay location for exploring the region. Park is 20 minutes from New River Gorge Bridge and Fayetteville, very convenient yet out enough you have privacy.

Cabin *****
We chose Cabin 19 for 3 nights in mid October, it has a nice fireplace but more importantly a mini-split HVAC system that kept us warm overnight. Other cabins are far enough away that your in privacy, but if you came with other families close enough for being friendly.

Amenities *****
We brought hamburgers and hotdogs to grill, along with match-light charcoal. I brushed Teriyaki sauce on them and sprinkled them with steak spices, 😋 MMM, Good!

We brought coffee, bourbon cream, and spinach sausage quiche to heat in the microwave for breakfast, with cinnamon bread 🍞 😋 for toast, all needed appliances were in working order.

I use a CPAP unit, there was plenty of electric near the bed for me and charging phones. WiFi works well as I am writing this from the cabin.

Shower was excellent, hot water, good pressure and lasts. The separation is enough not to disturb a sleeping spouse if your an early bird type, and make coffee and read to relax before breakfast.

Helpful Hint*****
We received 3 bundles of Oak firewood for the fireplace, 1 for each night we stayed. I suggest bringing some dry pine wood, (certified) to get the fire 🔥 going. The Oak can be slow to start, but once burning it lasted us several hours, 6 to 11 pm. I bring leather gloves and extra fire starter materials, you will receive 1 duraflame 🔥 starter, just 1, even though we were here 3 nights, keep this in mind.

Overall an excellent CCC Cabin experience in a wild and wonderful environment 😀

We visited for the mill and Island of the Sky trail. The view of the mill was our favorite part. The Island of the Sky trail was a climb, but interesting for sure. We climbed the trail behind the mill, up the hill, and walked down the road to make a loop. If you are tall, watch your head around the rocks. You will go through some narrow and low walkways.

Fall at Babcock State Park is so pretty. It was a little busy when I went on a Saturday but nothing too crazy.

Amazing trails, well marked with a variety of terrain and sights. I especially enjoyed a dusk walk around the lake, where there were rhododendron tunnels and a huge variety of mushrooms to see.

Gorgeous little park! The little waterfalls around are really cool. What's the neatest thing is the mill. Still working and used to this day. Sadly, when we were there, there wasn't enough water to operate the mill. But the staff working in the mill was happy to answer any and all questions! The gift shop has a bunch of small neat rocks and state park branded stuff. When we visited the public bathrooms were open. Not sure if that will change.
