Hackley Public Library

Beautiful old world library. Glass floor on the second floor, stained glass windows, and gorgeous wood shelves and bookcases are all magical. A must see!

I love this library, the architecture is like something out of a fairytale. If you've never been inside, it's a must-see in Muskegon. You can feel the history when you walk through the doors. They offer a wide variety of books and other media, even Nintendo Switch games. Plus there is a computer area for those who do not have access to a computer. I always look forward to stopping into the library and joined their summer reading program, which is for all ages and free to join.

If you have never been to this incredible library, I would say run, don't walk. Their are 2 stories to be discovered here. The top story is for kids. And seriously kids of all ages. They have so many book options for any age group and computers and a toy room for all kids. We love their summer reading program as well. They have so many DVDs, and games to rent out as well. The downstairs area is for teens and adults. They have private study rooms to rent out and they have a great selection of books. Take some time to discover this little gem right in the heart of downtown Muskegon.

The most beautiful, peaceful and historically rich environment! The gal that heads the children's department is so helpful and she knows where to find EVERYTHING ☺

Beautiful library, interesting history, friendly and helpful staff.

Needed a place to work from outside of the house. Free and reliable wireless. It's not the fastest but it's enough. About a half dozen small tables with outlets. Small meeting/study room just off the computer room. Air conditioned and comfortable.

Really, really impressed watching the librarians interact with anyone that walked in with the same attention, compassion and service. Super accommodating and incredibly equitable. Heroes work here.

A beautiful space to enjoy some quiet and explore your taste in books! The architecture, artisan crafted aesthetic, and friendly staff make the Hackley Library a nostalgic experience. I’m so grateful Muskegon has such a wonderful place to visit.

This beautiful library was built to high standards and 1888. Amazing architecture, letted windows, beautiful fireplaces, so much history and so much beauty. The attention to the details like the door hardware and the mosaic tile. The stained glass windows are also gorgeous

Hackley Public Library has a really great variety of DVDs and all different kinds of books. My favorite kind of books to read from Hackley Public Library is their Manga Books And chapter books like Herry Potter or the Manga Books called Sailor Moon those are two of my favorite books to read from the Hackley Public Library when I check them out.

The Staff was Extremely helpful from the moment I walked through the door. I had not been to the library in over 30 years...I definitely have missed that beautiful building and the Staff are AMAZING...

I recently brought a family here considering moving to Michigan. Through my company Tours Around Michigan, we spent the day exploring the Muskegon area, including to check out the glass floor at Hackley Library. They are trying to decide whether to move here and I showed them different things that could be part of their new life here. #RecruitingTour

My 6 yr old and I would live there if my husband let us. We have a real house, it just doesn't have endless bookshelves and it doesn't look like a big ol' castle.

Very well kept and clean. Very friendly people working. Will be bringing my girls back as much as they want!

A great place to spend a wintry afternoon. The staffers are exceptional–friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
