Wonderful Maine getaway. From the water taxi pickup at the parking area to the rustic but lovely cottages, this is the ideal place to unwind. We’ve been back three times and are planning the next visit. We enjoy reconnecting with nature, finding a since of peace and solitude. The pluses are: all inclusive features—great meals at the lodge (a take away picnic for lunch) and every kind of watercraft to explore the lake. Good hiking options. Nights are dark and silent, sunrise and sunset mark the days. We love having no agenda and making the day up as we go. Families or couples all seem to enjoy the intimacy of the layout and a chance to just sit on the cabin porch or gather in the lodge around a board game. The owners and staff are the best people and set the tone for a laid back time away from it all. Highly recommend!

For the past twenty-five years, my wife and I have had the pleasant opportunity to visit Attean Lake Lodge many times. We have met, three generations of Holden's and have happily watch the Island change and get better with time. My wife and I have guided and led, 12 Adirondack Mountain Club hikers between 2002 and 2007. Just want to make sure that we mention, as good as it has always been--Josie and Barrett have made it better. Consider threating yourself to an experience, where you are transported to a very special Island by boat--far from the parking of your car! Attean Lake Lodge--as inviting, comfortable, and special as it gets. You'll especially feel it as you hear the boat coming to take you away--to this most special place!

This will be the third summer at Attean Lake Lodge for my guiding company guests touring the greater Jackman area. True to the wilderness experience, the Lodge offers spectacular views, activities, atmosphere, and back-to-Earth hospitality. The staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating; maintaining a relaxed approach where guests feel special and at home. The cabins are clean and cozy. The meals are delectable and enticing. I hope to use Attean Lake Lodge services for many years to come.

My entire family came to Attean to celebrate my 70th Birthday. My grandkids ranged from 10 to 2. Even the 4 year old now asks
“When are we going back to the lake?”
The entire family (6 adults and 4 children) lived in 3 cabins and they were all very comfortable.
We had a fabulous trip exploring nearby islands, hiking and fishing.
The food was excellent and even the box lunches were just what anyone would want.
We live in South Carolina so visiting for us is
quite a journey so for now we enjoy our memories of our trip to Attean Lodge.

I have had the pleasure of staying at Attean Lake Lodge for several years now. It is nestled by a picturesque lake in the beautiful state of Maine. This hidden gem provided a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, offering a tranquil setting that rejuvenated both body and mind.

Location:
Situated amidst a pristine natural landscape, the cabin's location was truly remarkable. Surrounded by dense forests and overlooking the calm waters of the lake, it offered breathtaking views and a sense of complete seclusion. The remoteness of the cabin ensured a peaceful and uninterrupted getaway, allowing me to reconnect with nature and find solace in its serene ambiance.

Accommodations:
The cabin itself was cozy and well-appointed, providing all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The rustic charm of the interior, combined with modern conveniences in the lodge, created a harmonious blend.

Scenic Surroundings:
The true highlight of my cabin was its proximity to the lake. Access to a dock allowed for endless hours of relaxation and enjoyment. I spent my days basking in the sun, taking refreshing dips in the crystal-clear waters, and embracing the tranquility of the surroundings. The stunning sunsets and the soothing sounds of nature provided an idyllic backdrop for unwinding and reflection.

Outdoor Activities:
For those seeking adventure, the cabin offered an array of outdoor activities. Exploring the surrounding forests through scenic hiking trails was an absolute delight. Additionally, canoeing and kayaking on the lake provided a sense of exploration and added to the overall experience. The diverse wildlife and the opportunity for fishing added an extra layer of excitement to my stay.

Overall, my experience at this lodge on a Attean lake in Maine was nothing short of magical. The tranquil atmosphere, stunning surroundings, and comfortable accommodations provided the perfect escape from the demands of everyday life. Whether seeking solitude, outdoor adventure, or simply a place to unwind, this remote cabin offers a slice of paradise that will leave you yearning to return.

Can’t beat the serene, beautiful setting of Attean Lake Lodge! From seeing a variety of birds from the pedal kayak and a morning of tubing on the lake, to great food, excellent service from the kind staff, and fishing off the dock and boats…. Fourth visit here - great experience to get away from the frenetic pace that we live in. Things we love on our stay: friendly, super accommodating, great for families, a treasure, wonderful hosts and staff, good fishing, tubing, water skiing, watercraft available, hikes, sunset cruises and awesome views. We stayed here for the first time this year, and quickly understood one of the reviews we saw describing it as a "slice of heaven". The lake is picturesque, the staff removes all stress of meal preparation and serves wonderful food, and there's tons of activities around the island for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. We had decided by day two that we were going to rebook for the next year.

Awesome get away from busy life. Internet is very limited, but that's what makes it special. No electricity in the cabins, just gas powered lanterns and any flashlight you bring with you. Wood burning stove for those chilly evenings, or morning to start your day. Lots to do. There is hiking, boating, exploring or just reading a book from the library. Staff is friendly and helpful. Made friends with many of the other guests.

This place is magical! Food was excellent, accommodations were comfortable and access to nature easy! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We already booked again for next year!

Attean provides the antidote for your plugged in life. Like many folks, you may not even realize you need treatment. It suggests, and in fact insists due to limited connection options, that you go back in time and have real, uninterrupted fun (don't worry, you can connect when you need to). Attean provides all meals which I rate at 8.5 out of 10. They pack a lunch for you every day to encourage exploration off-island. Kayaks and canoes are available for free, but to really explore you'll need one of the skiffs available for small fee. The lake is almost totally free of boat traffic as the surrounding land was purchased years ago, easements were added which precluded the building of lake homes...thus, the only boaters are those that put in in Jackman and a few boats owned by other folks on the island. Our cabin was great, we didn't miss electricity one bit and the plumbing was totally modern. It was rustic but totally efficient, it had everything we needed. Attean offers the best of both worlds: it makes you feel like you rented your own secluded vacation cabin but takes care of all the hard work (cooking, cleaning and cleaning up after cooking). Having all meals provided adds 2-3 hours to your day when you have kids...we realized that between cooking and cleaning up we would lose 45 minutes per meal when we rented a vacation house. The difference is incredible. This place should be on your radar.

Ok, this place is unbelievably awesome. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. If you are looking for glamping, it is impossible to do any better than this. You are remote with no cell signal and electricity. However if you really need it, you can get internet and power during the day at the lodge, but my advice is don't use it. You probably need to disconnect more than you know. The cabins are gorgeous wood cabins have no electricity but have wood stoves, flush toilets and hot and cold running water. It's an all inclusive resort. You go for a nice breakfast and they pack you a picnic lunch and you specify what you want for dinner. You then spend the day kayaking, canoeing, hiking or just lounging around. There are lots of day hikes around the lake and you can take a canoe... or if your lazy a motor boat to a trail head and hike. At the end of the day, you have a delicious dinner and can retire to your cabin or hang out with other guests by a fire. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The food is delicious. Accommodations clean and rustic. Location remote and beyond beautiful. The only downside is you need to reserve early. In fact most guests book for the following year at the end of their stay. They tend to run >50% booked a year in advance.

My family and I went there twice almost 40 years ago. There was no social media. There were no computers! It has not changed. I dream of returning to the simplicity of breakfast in the little dining room, my picnic lunch packed and ready to go, heading out onto the lake in one of the little skiffs and pulling ashore on a little white sandy beach with forest behind us. I remember we were constantly looking behind us for any black bears. We never really knew if there were any or not. Dinner together, and back to the cabin with nothing but oil lamps, moonlight and the call of the loons. Absolutely the closest to heaven on earth I have ever been.

In our 29th year coming here we wouldn't trade this place for anywhere else in the world. Natural beauty, unplugging, excellent company, and wonderful staff.

Rustic but not really, very comfortable. Unbelievable, food views. Awesome. Actually caught some fish.
