Kaleva Cafe

One of the best place for a brunch in Houghton - Hancock area. We ordered the farmers omlet and chocklate chip pancake. The omlet comes with hashbrown and cheese and two custom add on with a side of a choice of toast.
The omlet was delicious. Toasts were perfect combination of crisp and softness. Choclate chip pancake a good mixture of two tastes, chocolate did not overpower the taste of pancakes.

Great food, great atmosphere, just a fantastic overall experience! Highly recommend it's one of my favorites.

Edit: Just ate here again for the first time in Forever. It was great food was perfect and staff is very friendly.

Great food, good sized portions, reasonably priced. Would recommend somebody looking for a quick good breakfast. I had a specific craving for French toast this morning and it was fully satisfied.

We were visiting family here and was looking for a Finnish restaurant to experience some of our heritage. This place was perfect! Friendly service, cute restaurant, history, and the food was so delicious! It's a definite must stop place if you're near Hancock!

Breakfast was delicious! We were shocked by how generous the portions were. We'll have to come back the next time we visit Tech.

We happened to see this place passing by and decided to give it a try. The wait to get seated was about 20 minutes which was fine. We came during the after church rush so that's to be expected. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food was amazing. Prices were good and the portions were very sizable. We got Hillbilly sausage and eggs, a Pasty, and the little breakfast. The little breakfast might have been little for Hagrid, but for us normal size folks it was pretty big. The pasty was good, and the sausage and biscuits were incredible. The sausage gravy was some of the best I've ever had. I'm still full 5 hours later. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

Hometowny, fresh, great service! The big breakfast is HUGE! Pancakes are amazing! Busicits and gravy were delectable! Such good food! Also a great amount of history in the cafe! Very interesting reading about the start of Houghton!

Great breakfast place and their pasty's are pretty filling!

Melissa treated us right. She told us how to eat a pasty like a local. Pretty good coleslaw too, eh.

Fast, friendly, clean, and very good food (pasties and gravy, in our case). If you hate these things in your lunch stop then best you keep moving. For normal people, though, this is an excellent choice.

Nice place for breakfast. Service was friendly and my coffee cup was always full. I had the breakfast bowl with onion added and it hit the spot. Make sure to try their homemade white bread.

I came here for lunch but I ordered breakfast. This was my first visit and and I was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean and neat, wait staff was quick and friendly and the food was excellent! I ordered the Big Breakfast. The pancakes that came with it were definitely not your average box mix and I chose rye bread for my toast. I'm pretty sure that they are home made and nearly the best restaurant food I have ever had! I definitely will be going back to Kaleva to try other menu items.

Great place for breakfast! I've not tried their lunch/dinner menu but I can only praise their breakfast options. Very nice service as well. Parking could be better other than street parking but doable.

I went to 3 pasty restaraunts while in the U.P. and this was my favorite place for pasties. The others were really good, but this stands out because I like carrots in my pasties. They also had really great cardamom bread and cookies. I can't get back there soon enough.

I'm not a farmer but I enjoyed their omelet. And cinammon toast? Yes, please.

Everything was great! I had Pannukakku the little ones shared pancakes and my husband had the big breakfast. (lots of food with that one). Prices are very reasonable. Place was pretty busy, as gems like this usually are. We'll definitely be back.

The homemade nisu bread was delicious! Fantastic food that was hot & fresh at the end of the day, on a busy holiday weekend.

Service was a little slow but the food was excellent. We also appreciated that we were not required to wear masks to our table. Refreshing to find a place that gives you freedom to decide for yourself instead of being forced.
