Lots of trees and shade. The bathrooms are not the best I've seen, but not terrible. The main one in the middle is much better than the ones on the ends. The beach is quite nice too! The sites are nicely sized.

Our favorite spot to camp. The kids have a great time riding bikes and hoverboards on the paved drives and through the wooded trails. Lake Michigan is just a short walk away.

I love this campground. We have been going here my whole life and have spent at least a weekend here every summer. Great beach access and nice wide campsites. I can't wait until next June when we return!

We've camped many times at Pioneer Park through the years. As always, the park is clean, camping sites are nice, the kids love the playground, and access to the beach is awesome.

We brought our youth group to watch the sun set across the water. What a beautiful evening! Although the beach was narrow, it was clean and full of shells and a few sand dollars. It was a peaceful area, and not packed with tourists. It did cost $5 to enter. Above the beach was a large playground and shaded picnic area. We also saw a camping area. We walked down the wooden stairs and pass the wooden lookout point to the beautiful soft sand beach. Definitely worth stopping again for a peaceful evening!!

Went there every year with my family for two weeks on 4th of July weekend. Went there for 20 plus years, and enjoyed every trip. Staff is very friendly, you can walk down to the beach from the campground, campsites are enough space to hold a Winnebago easily, many showers and multiple bathrooms all around the campground. They also have a park for kids, a church, basketball court, tennis court and plenty of area for baseball. 235 various campsites. Lovely place, definitely recommend it if you're looking for a place to camp. (Also much better than the Muskegon State Park in my opinion).

Hands down absolutely my favorite spot for picnicking and going to the beach. I also love camping here, sites are good sized and grassy and best of all include water on site. Plenty for the kiddo to do each year that we've been here. Depending on when you camp, it can be more peaceful and family oriented, or it can be extra busy and noisy (even late into the night).

Stayed over the 4th of July weekday into the weekend. Great place for kids to bring bikes and play. There are some really fun bike trails through the woods that the kids loved. Dogs are allowed and they provide bags to clean up after them all over the park, which was really nice. Some of the lots are small and some are big. All other campers we met were nice. Good place to stay with kids and dogs. No alcohol in the park. We have been staying there every year for the past few years. We like it.

I had so much fun walking and exploring here! The only bathroom is a drive up the road. There is plenty of parking here. There are some cool sand trails to hike all over the place. We spent hours here.

It is not good for strollers or wheel chairs where we parked. We walked the beach up to one of the 3 piers that you can walk out on.

Pretty park and a short walk to beautiful lake Michigan! Not my kind of camping though with water and electricity hookups. Plus the campsites are stacked right on top of each other. Definitely not rustic camping.

I was a bit worried after reading some reviews that our weekend trip would be awful. First impression, there was a mistake with our reservations. They did what they could in an instant to fix the mistake, however, we were told that we would have to change sites on day 2 of our 3 day stay or we could get a partial refund. I was upset but there was nothing that could be done, but I had a carload of kids ready to camp, so I agreed. One of the rangers came to our site a while later to let us know they did some additional organizing and we were able to stay in the same site :) I loved being so close to the beach and all the tree cover. The restrooms and showers needed some attention (cleaning and refilling - there was no hand soap for 3 days in one of the restrooms) but they were useable. I love that kids are free to play and ride bikes, but some parental supervision was needed!!! Its really difficult to drive through when there are kids in the road - PARENTS WATCH YOUR KIDS! And make sure they move to the side of the road when cars are coming. Its not the rangers job to take care of your children.

Great beach access, bike trails, paved roads for rollerblading. Volleyball court beach style, basketball court, baseball field. Playgrounds for kids. Great camping lots. 26 dollars a night for one campsite. And two vehicles per lot. Been going since i was 1 year old and now im 29 always a great experience and get away.

We have stayed at pioneer for years and it's all of you that put these bad reviews on that they need them for.If you don't want to follow their rules stay home or go find a campground that doesn't have them.Next time read the rules first before you write a bad review about rangers enforcing rules . Rules are there for a reason! Maybe this campground is just not for you but don't blame others for your defiance! Thank you rangers for keeping pioneer safe for all of us!

Love this Muskegon county park -
Huge lot sizes - decent shower facilities - on Lake Michigan - and offer water and electric on their sites..

I was hesitant to stay at pioneer park due to bad reviews about the park rangers. Yes, they make their rounds every few hours, but my family of four had a great time and did not feel like we were being watched constantly. Maybe the bad reviews were just the rule breakers getting caught. I would definitely stay here again. Great location on Lake Michigan.

Such a fun campground! This is our second time there this year. Our kids have fun at the beach and playing in the woods. Other campers were friendly and our kids played. Park staff were very nice.

Growing up I would stay here for a couple weeks out of the summer, and those were the weeks I would look forward to more than anything. It's right next to Lake Michigan, but has the forest feel to it and a great trail to either hike or bike on. It's a very relaxing campground and you can't get much better.

This place has been a part of our family vacations for over 10 years and we love the place. I've seen a few complaints on cell service...we've only had problems on the actual beach however, may I just say...it could be divine intervention as why would you want to be online or on the phone surrounded by all that natural beauty?!

My husband and I have been camping at Pioneer for 33 years. We found this little gem whIle we were staying at the statemp park. The state park was so dark and dreary, we went for a drive and just down the road was pioneer. The Ranger let us drive through and we brought our camper down here. We have had a few issues through the years but it's not been with the Rangers . It's other campers that do not obey rules. We.love it here. We stay all summer.
