Wooden Nickel Sports Bar & Grill

First time at the Wooden Nickel. Dive bar oozing with atmosphere and attitude. Ordered the half pound burger smothered with all the fixins. Flame cooked just right, very tasty. Huge selection of domestic and import beer. Definitely a return food destination!

Definitely a gem of a Sports/Dive bar with a up north cabin feel. Fantastic food grilled on the grill right up front. Really good deal GameDay too. Free popcorn, dart board, touchtunes digital music, ATM, and a couple arcade slot machine. This Lions fan crew of 6 enjoyed it.

I stopped into the Wooden Nickel Bar and Grill on College Avenue in downtown Appleton tonight for dinner. Been there many times and never have had a bad experience. Always had nothing but exceptional service from the staff especially the bartender Kristen and every time I am there the owner Tony makes it a point to stop by my chair and thank me for my business. I have had many burgers around the Valley and there are many good ones, but if you want the “Best of the Best” you need to stop in there and order the Double Play Combo. It is the best burger in Wisconsin 2nd to none.

A random road trip stop turned into a great experience! A cozy neighborhood bar that created a great balance of staying cozy while socially distancing. A recommended stop to let Charlie and Sam take care of you while serving up friendly service and huge portions. Kudos to Wooden Nickel!

Came here for a drink before our painting class, & was pleasantly surprised. Interior is dim & cozy, bartenders were friendly & working hard to serve a large crowd. Appetizer was pretty good too. Would definitely visit again!

It's a great and relaxing place to go to hang out or watch sports. The grilled cheese that Kristin made was fantastic, one of my favorites.

Fairly cheap and delicious! Got the beef burger with brat patty on top. Onions, cheese pickles and bacon. Laid back bar

I walked in and was noticed and assisted by the very nice person making my food. An older guy came over and also noticed me and asked if I needed assistance. It was my first time here and since Groupon had places to try at a great price, this was a good opportunity to try there food. Only one allowed although they were purchased together just so you know. Chicken and fries were delicious, chicken tenders were tender and melt in your mouth. Only thing I would do is soak the wings in whichever flavor sauce you prefer. Nice little place however crowded. May need to expand.

Bar tender was super nice and accommodating. We came there late and tired. Appetizes were half off. What a great idea and a good deal for us as we ordered a lot of food. Loved the music and danced on the patio. Nice that you can smoke out there. Love this place. Haven't been there in 30 years only because I moved to a different state. What a wonderful pleasant surprise to go there again and have such a great experience.

Came in for a last call and had incredible service from the host (Dylan iirc) he served us quickly and even offered to make food for us even though it was quite late and we assumed the kitchen was closed for the evening. Had a great conversation with him and felt very welcome here. Great first experience at the wooden nickel!

Went for lunch on a weekday. Two bartenders were friendly. Lunch food prices were great. I had the elk burger, highly recommend, with fries.

We had such a fun time taking over the juke box playing old school tunes with friends.

Good beer selection, friendly service, a number of TVs , and from what little I've had, good food also.

Food and service is always fun 😀
