Whitney Book Corner

The ladies were so friendly, knowledgeable and kind. We will be returning in the future for some more awesome reading. The store is clean and neat! I highly recommend this for obtaining books for you and your kids!

Such a cute gem!!! I love books, libraries, and could generally be called a bibliophile. For my recent wedding, we used old books as center pieces. The volunteer staff here was amazingly helpful in this process and made it even more fun and special.

Wonderful place to visit. The personnel are marvelous. Wonderful selection of books of many different varieties. Reasonably priced.

Not the most extensive book collection I've seen, mostly fiction. Most-all the books are donations, and cost $3-5 a piece. Currently there's no way to look a book to see if it's in their stock. Their staff is put together by volunteer efforts, which is nice, since everyone there has a passion for books.

Best kept secret ever. Ok maybe it isn’t a secret but I love this book store. I was faithful to my Kindle for a long time, but then, I found this cute affordable bookstore and I walk out with great books each time. Movies, music, books, it’s all here. I call each time I go ‘ Bookstore Day’ because it makes me so happy. It’s truly the highlight of when I get paid.

The prices are fantastic, their staff is friendly, and the books are in amazing shape.

The whole organization is volunteer run, ALL of the books are donated to the library/Whitney and all profits go straight to programs at the library, kids events, adult programs, loads of stuff! Better still, they put so much work into sorting everything they receive that all the books you see in the store will be equal in quality to books you would find at a chain store at full price!

Not done yet though! All of the donations that don't make it over to the Whitney are offered at the group's twice yearly massive book sale. These people are wonderful and so dedicated!!

Re: what sort of visit, I have gone many times with many combinations of friends/family! My grandparents visited from TEXAS and I made sure to bring them in! They found enough treasure to fill a huge tote bag and had a loong way to bring it!

Great place for used books... reasonably price.. bright and friendly atmosphere... too!

I have been shopping at this used bookstore since it opened. The volunteers are very friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the selection is quite varied.

The Whitney Book Corner at 600 Union St., Schenectady, NY, has closed. But good news! It will be relocating to 105 Clinton St. just across the street from the library. There will be a grand opening ceremony on April 27, 2022.
If you are looking for used books in the meantime, please visit the Second Look bookstore at Viaport mall in Rotterdam.
Both stores are run by the Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library and proceeds are used to support the library.

Love this little book store - Old literature never dies... I am researching political theory for a book of my own. Amazing what I can find here and see how projections of what was written 5 10 20yrs ago is relevant today.

Love this place. So many books at such a reasonable price. I woupd definitely recommend checking it out.

Good SciFi - fantasy selection. Manager was very knowledgeable and helped me find new author's. But nothing beats there prices. $10 for a stack of new hardcovers. $10! I'll definitely be back.

Amazing. There are lots of new books here at thrift book prices. Because of the low prices, the stock seems to rotate pretty quickly. Also, it helps fund Friends of the Library, so go and support them!
