Battle Creek Hemlocks State Natural Area

This is a jem, truly amazing area! Such a great place to explore, been several times and I still see new things!

The old lodge, the fishing cabins just going back to nature. The forest won, and hopefully will continue its watch over the river for many generations to come.

Just walking through you get the sense of its history.

Not going to tell you where but there are the most amazing old cedar tree clumps, they are massive trees with wicked looking roots! They are hidden but findable if you can tolerate a little mud on your feet. I had no idea cedar could get so big!

Amazing area, massive trees!

Pretty area but make sure after you go past the gate, to follow the trail to the left and do NOT take the large and well marked snow mobile trail as this is the wrong way.
